  • Finally I guess it's time for some more action in the gt250 R thread. First round query from a Hyosung Dealer a good buddy of mine suggests the the price could be around 2 to 2.25 lakh range.

Only time will tell if these can sell like hot cakes, but will keep posted here for more of the info, as and when it becomes viable!

    Cheers!!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

But even that needs some clarification too............who knows how was that Ninja used.

Generally a bike like Ninja250R is sold only if the owner is broke(financially) or the bike is broke(mechanically) but different stories would mask that fact

        @MACH50
Ripped bike is fine me, but not broken.
Even If I have a ninja, I would do that only.

Thanks a lot for your comments.

I have a query. I have been also looking for a used ninja250R in Bangalore.
          but not found anny.

          What's your say, if I get a well maintained n250R under 2lacs.
          Should I go n250r or GT250R?
Sorry as the query was not for me, but I would suggest you can go for a N250R with eyes, nose or anything open or closed if its under 2lakhs. Its a steal of the century, but you must be 100% confident that the bike didn't have crashed or not even a single nigglings. must be in perfect condition. Otherwise it will burn you into ashes.
FYI... one single mirror costs 2400Rs, one indicator 1200, chain sprocket around 14K, radiator 38K...AFAIK and the list continues(this info is just FYI only if you are not aware of)

mate, i dont think it will sell well at 2.25 even if the price is on road because-

lets compare it with cheapest 250cc here CBR 250r 2012 edition

just had td on 2012 cbr as well as 2011 cbr, both are simply perfect mechanically read-
              1. ultra smooth gear shift, the best in india under 2l inlcusing Duke

              2. slick positive clutch

              3. smooth linear power delivery, excellent and ultra reliable honda engine

              4. very imp- honda;s known reliablility and extensive service network

2012 CBR has superb fit and finish compared to 2011 plus honda has taken control of many ancilleries thus ensuring better quality integaration among varius components.

Anyway all the niggles reported in 2011 were to do with fit, finish, quality of plastic parts, not to do with mechanicals which are pain in .... if they go wrong. now even those plastic bits are improved.

              Negatives
              5. widely publicized Negatives of Honda is single cylinder- still with single cylinder it is prices same as Ninja in USA and is selling well in direct competition to Nnija, although fit and finish i am assuming will be better there as it is being exported from Thailand.

why - because just like ninja has better looks and better top end power, honda has superb low and mid end torque and softer suspension - plus for many , digital dash and cheaper plastic bits thus easy to repair in case of fall, and again even there honda has better name in terms of reliablity then even Kawasaki or for that matter any bike manufacterer alothough Ninja is also a proven, low maintenance bike.

Sorry i forgot that CBR has proven highest mileage among all three.

Hyosung even with cheaper price tag then HONDA CBR in USA sells nowhere in comparision to CBR, it is widely regarded in the USA, Australian forums as well as auto mags as bike with serious quality issues and superb poser value, big bike look and feel, you can google it, as a bike which falls apart in an year or so and as bike which serious needs 650 cc engine what with 650cc chasis and weight housing comparatively puny 250cc engine which ideally should make it lot slower then single cylinder cbr and most probably even KTM DUKE.

Even with CKD or CBU the mechanical niggles will remain as same bikes are being sold in USA, Australia, rightly so many owners there face issue also because of poor parts availability and poorly trained staff, but so is the situation in India what with 12 Service stations for India while our population is bigger then whole of Europe.

I dont mean to berate Hyosung etc, what i mean to say technologically it is a strange affair between 650cc chasis and streched out ergonomics with 250cc aircooled/oil cooled engine and korean technology which still in automotive tech specially so in two wheelers rank too low compared to japanese.

Hence even with poser value and big bike look, and twin cylinder and slightly higher bhp, may be 2 or 3 bhp advantage it can not beat superb mechanicals, power to weight ratio, handling, maintenance cost, Brand name, proven reliability in India, no heating issues, 6 gears thus giving superb milege anf comfort at higher speeds advantages of cbr

I believe if they want 1/10 sales of CBR they should price it at par with CBr 250r non abs on road price of 1,63,000 . ( the price quoted is of Lucknow) So whatever price it has at diff. places.

if it sells for 1,63,000 or even less and they train there staff better and own up to their products not like in Melroyal's case then they will be able to satisfy the urge of indian bikers having a proper superbike kind of looker with proper twin cylinder at decent price thus seriously able to stablish the brand name in India .

Cause in India only looks do not guarantee sales or a superb car like Fiat Punto, having superb engine and technology would have sold like hot cakes , could not because of poor repute of this world known brand in india due to service etc.

If we can acceptt Hyundai, (which in UK is considered cheap and third rung car company and so in USa) because of their superb service, pricing, mileage and good reliability and enabling it to eat in Honda, toyota market share we can do the same for Hyosung if they price it superbly and back it up even if it means making real paper thin margins initially and if the product is successful the owners will speak for the company thus ensuring good sales in long run

              • forgot to mention i didnot put ninja in comparision while it looks lot better then cbr etc, cause it has too high price tag . What i mean to say if there was only ninja at 3.2l then gt 250r whould have sold like hot cake at 2.2 or even 2l onroad, but CBR and now even DUKE has spoiled the party.

ALso superb sales of Cbr 2011 even with fit anf finish issues, parts availibility has shown the trust in Honda brand, which unfortunately Hyosung lacks by a wide margin everywhere in world even in Korea.

if it sell for 1.6 l then i will also consider it after naturally taking a TD and checking quality with respect to CBR

i see here ur emotions speaking rather ur mind, as ur mind also knows this price point is not possible even in dreams ..
as per the comparisons b/w the markets abroad and in India ..its really not practical .. there is one artical recently published in some online edition about how things changes from horns to Tyre of vehicle in India [read as imported models] and how they overcome challenges .. should read that. wt ever suits abroad its not neccessary that it should suit here also.

cbr-1.5L Ninja-3L GT-2L .. shouldn't it look perfect ?? w.r.t features and usability i think price point is perfect for each bike, and moreover can't comment on GT ride till actually ride it.

so hold ur horses and wait till full details emerges .. then we can continue this

                        • man, you are all praise for CBR and i got your point that you love CBR. but love and fact are two different things.
                        • a few things i would like to politely point out- (1) its not that CBR does not have any flaws, it has its own issues, (2) while looks can be subjective and different people may like different looks, but it can be said that most people will agree that ninja250 looks dated and CBR has a more refreshing and in-line with current trend kind of looks. (3) as of now the price of hyosung 250 is not disclosed, and if it is launched in india at a preice of 2Lacs, it will have its own share of business, coz...a lot of people definitely want 2 cylinders in place of one, a lot of ppl do want poser value, and most important is that it is not as bad as some may think.

Maverick, in all honestly I'll have to agree to most of the points you're making, about Ceeber and the Hyosung. But let's give it a wait, will ya, yes you are right about all the niggling issues. I mean, it's Hyosung it's Korean, don't expect much, they still have ways to grow.

Some views are better kept for ourselves rather than letting others know and spoiling someone's cake. We know it's right, everyone knows but it's just difficult to convince everyone, if you know what I mean

@princesirohi, to some extent we, Indians tend to do prefer poser stuff, +1 for that, no questions asked. But there is no way, any bike is without defect, nothing is 100% right, right! It's just you refine, refine, refine until it's gets perfect. But what maverick was is trying to project is, it's not about poser value too, but we as a customer pay those hard earned moolah handsomely, not just for the sake of two cylinders and poser value.

There's something more to it, "reliability and harmony" with the bike., if you know what I mean.

It's not to diss anyone's view, but every bike in it's unique way is unique. And if it's "affordable" and can make people happy, at least for the time being then that's a perfect recipe, so in that way, yes thumbs up for Hyosung

                          Cheers!

if it sells for 1,63,000 or even less and they train there staff better and own up to their products not like in Melroyal's case then they will be able to satisfy the urge of indian bikers having a proper superbike kind of looker with proper twin cylinder at decent price thus seriously able to stablish the brand name in India .
