well..
First real heart pounding moment came after the First 10sec heat cycle.
On second heat cycle , when I touched the starter , it couldn't turn over the
motor.
I put the bike in gear and tried moving the motor by pushing the bike and rear
wheel just locked up not budging at all.
That was the time when I started
having technical shit thoughts of Microwelded rings , Seized up pistons and what
not. ohh god why did I even opened up the Motor of a bike barely an year
old.
I was about to start taking it apart when I saw that blinkers on the
bike are barely glowing.
Damn! the battery is low , got hold of a Big car
battery , jumped the leads and there she goes. Purrs like a Kitten. No dramas
So, Now I have done first 100km on the new motor. It pulls like a Freight train already. everytime I upshift ( specially from 3 to 4th or 4th to 5th) , it gets into that acceleration mode even without throttle. Although I have the Breakin tune loaded , which is quite conservative on Timing and rich on fuel to keep temps down , additional power already took me by surprise a couple of times. Soon will run the Auto tune utility on Power vision and get it to correct the VE throughout the range.
In Breakin miles, taking it very easy and trying to keep it between 2-3k rpm.
NO leaks/ no weird sound. Infact I feel the Motor is very very quite after installation. Stock motor was very noisy on valve train noise , One could hear the push rod lifters hitting rockets every time , all the time. Guess Harley mainatins more clerance between valves and tappets than actually required. They sound like a Singer sweing machine if One has quite mufflers.
But now New cylinders + new packing gaskets etc have Have stacked up so nicely that Motor has no Valve train noise atall (well atleast not presently).
This is Most bang for the Buck upgrade for 883 , and I would strongly reccomend it to 883 owners. and since 883 comes with same crank + clutch + Gearbox + driveline components etc as a factory 1200 , it is pretty reliable as well.
