First Real problem with Sportster has bitten me!.
today at 19346km , I parked my Bike and the Key simply refused to come out of Ignition.
Tried every which way to shake it , turn on / off several time and what not. Did not budge.
Finally had to Park with Key left in Ign lock.

That must be frustrating, risky as well in our parking places. I guess the switch needs a replace unless there is another idea to get out of this situation.

Sham tak dhup mai khade rekhkar sari masti bahar aagayi uski.
In evening , i moved the key in switch on / off a few times and it came out like nothing ever happened.

Wow good to know that. Looks as if Your Sporty was into some patience checking mode . How is your 1250 kit install Project turning up? Meanwhile, I got a call from my Sales consultant 4 days back telling me that if my Sporty is ready by Dec will be a 2014 model but if it is delivered in January 2015 it would in most likeliness be a 2015 model. Not bad I guess considering I booked in Aug'2014.

                Another DIY super Sunday!
This time made myself a Super Stage 1 aircleaner.
Not just any air cleaner , actually measured air flow post installation and it is flowing better than stage 1 from Harley.
Will shortly post Volumetric efficiency table + other data on my AC v/s stage 1 harley k&n
So into the basics- used a esteem oem type 1 air cleaner. Made a custom air box .
                Why spend 15k ??
Intake temp have dropped by 15*c.
Its going to support 1250 pretty well

                    So here it is!
Comparision of Stock Air filter V/S Newly installed Custom Air filter.
Second Pic is of Stock AC , taking a look at 3rd column (IAT= incoming Air temperature)
it clearly indicated that Intake air temps do not change much with vehicle speed and is maintained at Higher value of About 70*c all through out the Run.
Engine temperatures are maintained around 190-199*c throughout.

First Pic is of New Aircleaner system.
IAT falls every time the Bike gains Speed , also even at Stand still it is 10*c lower than Stock AC. And at Comparable speed of around 80kmph , New AC drops the Intake temp to around 40*c . WHich is good 30odd units less than stock. Lower charge temp means low Detonation at Higher timing, Lower Engine temperature and Higher charge density.
I could run 1.5* advance over stock value of Advance 32* at WOT without detonation , due to lower intake temp and higher charge density. Engine temp dropper by 10*c due to lower intake temps and is marked by ET in graphs.

I did this test keeping all the parameters exactly same , including ambient temp during run (32-33*c) , used same stock tune , same timing etc.

3rd pic shows the Volumetric Efficiency comparision between Stock VE and VE after Aircleaner. this VE was calculated by Auto Tune function of Power vision which Involved data collection done during 200+km of riding.
I have distinct gains in region of 2200rpm to 3000rpm and than again from 5000rpm to 6500rpm. At places it is 20% more VE than Stock setup.
I have Loss of VE at low rpms (below 1500) and very low throttle Openings (Throttle below 10%) but that is not the range where one would look for Power from machine.

Stock tune as supplied by HD with the New bike was for STock Mufflers and Stock Ac.
I have my mufflers improved and Air cleaner upgraded.

Just logged one of the WOT runs ,Just for the fun of it.
When i reviewed the Logs it was my first recorded run above 160, and even at 172kph the rate of speed climb was awesome. it went from 160 to 172 in 4 secs , when I had to let go off throttle due to huge Truck Changing Lanes .
The rate it was climbing and looking at the RPM at 172kph (Just 56xx) , I recon it is a Real 190kph bike now.

Did not get to look at the speedo because it was not totally traffic free moments of the road and boy was it hauling A** .
Believe me , sitting just 24inches above the ground and travelling that fast is lot more of a RUSH that may be on a Goldwing or a Car.
in a Few weeks I will be a 1250 with almost double of current Torque and HP.
                      Cant wait!
