  • Congrats once again! Your Blade is roaring nay thundering on the road!
Please can you post more pics and log if possible?
    Thanks!

And what about the Fireblades.org forum? In which thread are you?

    • @Fireblah, Jonak and whomsoever tending to xBhp's first official '09 Blade :
What im getting at is deviating from the 10W40 grade to the 20W40. Surely, Kolkata doesn't see single digit temperatures, hence the 20W40 will serve well.
Hence, im hinting at selling the HMSI guys their own pride and hence using the 'HONDA' badged 20W40 grade oil that is manufactured by Idemitsu.
Im certain that HMSI won't object to this !

      • I feel that it is better to stick to the 10Wx grade.

If u see the image from the manual, they have mentioned to go up the ladder only on the second grading of the multigrade, i.e shift from a 10W30 to a 10W40.

During cold starts , a 10W30/10W40 will definitely be thinner than a 20W40. Which is critical as most of the wear and tear of the engine is during cold starts and the following 5 minutes of riding/idling.

So bottomline, stick to the 10W30/10W40 grade. U can use even 5W40 oils but problem is that u need only a mineral one!

BTW, does the fireblade have a dry clutch or a wet clutch It should be a dry clutch right?
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

        • ^^Wet clutch. Hence all the issue about the which oil to choose and the JASO MA rating

Keep an eye the oil level. Some of the 08 blades burn oil. Check the sticky in the forum.

            Good luck and have fun!
            Nice avatar, ZooZooMan!

@fireblah: The link you are referring to is also a good one. It has most info you would need. The post in the engine oils thread has the same thing explained a bit complex way. At the end of the day, its biking knowledge. To understand what 10W40 actually means, what composition is what, mineral, semi synth, fully synth. etc etc.

Then the next thing would be to ask around in the fireblades forum like most people here suggested. And as Samyaza said, many of the 08 and 09 owners have complained about the oil burning issue in the CBR forums. Do check it out.

Coming to the grade, I'd have to agree with Rossiter here. Even though a SBK machines are much more complex than engines built here, they still are machines. And such a high price for engine oil doesn't make sense in this context.

He meant a trip-log. A write up of your feelings and experiences while on a trip so that other bikers like us can enjoy and share the moments you went through.

One request to all... I want to fix the license plate to the bike, but have no idea what shape/size would go with it, so if any of you have a picture of 2008-09 CBR fireblade with a rear license plate, please share it... thanks

No problem. Just try and be consistent with the oil brands and changes.

As for the number plate, try and go for a small one or it will ruin the clean back end of the bike.

Is it just me.. the Blade, or Sunny's pics that today I actually find the 08 Blade to be attractive. I remember inviting everyone's wrath by ridiculing the machine when it first came out.. I guess the bike has grown on me.
