wat hero honda oil in a superbikeOriginally posted by fireblah View Post@bandhav: thanks mate.. i have not read rossiter's thread. will do.
I dunno which oil brand they have recommended. The oil that came out was the original engine oil that came with the bike, so i dunno what it was either.
Right now the bike has Hero Honda oil... 10w30 jaso MA manufactured by Bharat Petrolium...
@svjhonda: Pump is at camac street, when you enter from park street, its on the right side...

i dont think that oil is designed for a cbr; atleast use shell advance or power1
was 10-30 oil was recommened by honda tech plp ,wat does manual specify,i think that is for cold climateLast edited by anirudh fz1; 05-20-2009, 02:24 PM.sigpic

6000 Rs per liter ! ? . Thats plain day robbery . The bike will require 3-4 liters? , thats 20000 /- Rs just for Oil ? .They are taking you for a ride .
Ask them where is it witten that you should use such expensive oil. Write to honda heads and a get an explaination to this .
PS: learn to use internet and get into some honda forums , that will have every detailed information . No offense .SPEED .....i need more
I cannot do burnouts :(..my bike has traction control...

So the FireBlade requires 10W30 oil is it?Originally posted by fireblah View Postyeah sounds crazy isnt it, but we saw various oils in the market, none of them were of the specifications given in the manual.
The only oil that matched was hero honda oil. But dont worry, we are gonna change that after 300 kms , that is at 1000 km mark. will put oil honda has got from japan.
anyways, we were advised NEVER to use synthetic oil for the bike. I know people use synthetic oils after initial use.. i really wanna know the dynamics of these oils, how they work , what does the rating mean , why do different four stroke engines use different kind of oils.. etc etc ....When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

@fireblah: everything you want to know is present here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universa...gine-oils.html
Congratulations on getting the new CBR. You have a beautiful machine there.
I must admit, great great job by Honda to get their tech men flown to your city and then to your place to diagnose the problem. They have come mighty long way to fix a loose connector.
6000Rs / liter is too much for oil. Exorbitant is a understatement. Outrageous is more like the word. If you do a little more searching, I am sure the oil with the specific grade you are looking for is available.DoN\'t LivE tO DiE, dIe tO LiVe

It is like this because of various duties charged as its imported from japan.Originally posted by nfsnfs View Post6000 Rs per liter ! ? . Thats plain day robbery . The bike will require 3-4 liters? , thats 20000 /- Rs just for Oil ? .They are taking you for a ride .

As for lookin on internet for info, I am always on the look.... And i honestly believe, honda will never take their customers for a ride. They are looking for alternatives and are in talk with their Indian oil supplier for a local source...
@ insanebiker : yup the recommend oil is 10w30Last edited by fireblah; 05-20-2009, 04:36 PM.May the torque be with you..

@fireblah: First of all, congrats on the Blade. You are a proud owner of one of the most well-sorted and rider friendly liter bikes around. Take good care of her.
Good to see Honda India's immediate reactions towards the issue. Maybe this is why they have not launched the bikes in the South, they probably want a slow rollout so that any potential problems can be handled faster. But it's killing their sales at the same time.
Although I've no clue as to how the power dropped suddenly, I'm not quite sure how a loose connector can be the culprit. If it was the loose connector, that injector would not have worked at all and you'd have gotten an error code instantly. I'm sure even the Blade's ECU is designed to throw out error codes, and has a self diag feature as well.
The low voltage theory is also not sitting well with me. A loose connector will not transmit low voltage, it just won't transmit any voltage at all.
Think it over, visit some Blade forums, like nfsnfs suggested, and keep picking the Honda techs brains. I'm not saying distrust them, but don't take any conclusion at face value, just because they have the full official resources at their disposal. Honda India and Yamaha India's service personnel thinking is not so different, and this is my honest observation, looking at how the companies have been handling diagnosis issues over the past year or so.
As for the oil, use any standard mineral oil man. Toss the grade and the ultra special
"6000/litre" oil ideas out the window. If the HH oil works for you, go for it.
Keep the rubber side down, and get some good gear. If you need any info, ask around, there is plenty of help on this forum.
