Looks like TVS are not doing much of a development in 2Ts anymore (for racing that is).
No offence to anyone here, but i am talking hard facts here. Google around for some race results & you will know.
@ Frank Sir, sorry for hijacking your thread. Please continue your good work. Am waiting for more updates from you.
@ Rosh & dafc, as an old timer, back in the day, if i remember correctly, the factory team of Escorts-Yamaha, took part in 50 % of the events (Track & Motocross) and the rest are privateers participating with their own money and a little sponsorship from small companies /individuals. but the Ind/TVS Suzuki's always took part not only at Sholavaram but any other race/motocross/National event through the Factory teams only. imagine a Factory backed team biting dust behind RX-100's in the hands of Privateers
Here i should mention about the twin brothers, the Legends, Rajkumar & Rajendra who used to Rip the RX & RD's both backed by Team TanTex on the Sholavaram track for over 5 years, we are very fortunate to have non other than the legendary Rajkumar here in Xbhp, both the brothers are 2T tuners & racers as well. i had the privilege of racing with them on the same track same year -1989 ( not in Group-B, but i'm racing in the Group-D novice class) on the same day, same track.
This is the link for one of his posts in Feb 2009 and a testimony about how the RX & RD used to perform in their hands.
Here are some pics i saved all these years (first time posting on the internet)

From left:Originally posted by karthikdattag View PostIn the second pic, which bikes are those? And is that a scooter in between?
Competition No. 158 - Lambretta (modified for racing by striping all the bodywork.they even sport bigger Car carburetors! and capable of speeds close to 120 kph in the straights)
Competition No. 151 - i think its an Ind-suzuki
Competition No. 192 - again a Lamby
Competition No. 178 - Ind suzuki
Competition No. 191 - a Bajaj M-50 or M-80
Competition No. 210 - Unknown (but very innovative. he actually drilled holes in his competition numberplate to be more Aerodynamic
)
I'm sure you are wondering how the race went on with multiple branded/ cc bikes?
those days its a common thing at Sholavaram in the Novice class. they used to mix up all the bikes/scooters, but the race results would be taken differently accordingly to its class & cc.

Caught the bug for nostalgia too...my bro used to ride one of these when he was studying in Japan...many years ago. He died there a few months ago while he was riding his classic 1970's Yamaha R5 350.True blue smoke makes the devil's blood run cold

Thanks man.Originally posted by karthikdattag View PostDear, my condolences. Very unfortunate incident. May i know how this happened?
He was working for DENSO in Aichi. One afternoon after a meeting he was going home work from there. His brakes failed, as in the cable just snapped. He tried to stop by wiggling the bike but as you know better than anyone what a Yamaha 350cc's acceleration and power is like. So what stopped him was a barrier. He hit it and was flung over the side of the road. Died on impact.
Here's a pic of the model and color he had. Not his, but similar. I guess he died while doing the thing he loved most

My deep condolences too, liked the pic of Yamaha RX 125 & i'v never seen it before, very similar to our RX-100, but very much classic in design. may be its made in the late 1970's for the Japanese market.Originally posted by Bluesmoke View PostCaught the bug for nostalgia too...my bro used to ride one of these when he was studying in Japan...many years ago. Loved it very much, I actually maintained a record of the things like when it got a new tyre, engine oil, 2T oil, de-carbonized, cables changed/lubricated and lots of other things. All maintenance done by me and at home, in the span of 5 years it didn't have any major problem which should be done at the dealer, in-spite of riding it for 51,234 KM (22,066 to 73,300 kilometers) as logged in this dairy.
Here are the Scans of Maintenance done which i wrote in a Dairy, the FIRST 5 PAGES OF THE DAIRY ARE COPIED FROM ANOTHER BOOK AND NOT ACCORDING TO THE POCKET DAIRY DATES. However, from 05-04 1991 the year is correct and dates written by me. i'm posting the first 4 pages now.(total 20 pages).
