Just curious, in those days which brand/s of 2T oil were you using? I am assuming the fancy stuff (Motul) that we now get weren't available then.

Indian oil, Bharat petroleum, HP has their own products then, i think in the late 80's Gulf oil Co. came to India with a new product called "Smoke less 2T oil" may be synthetic (but less smoke )

started 30+ years ago, and still continuing. very hard to keep-up the 2T Passion alive for such a long time, but it'll stay until death.

Here are the final 6 pages

See the rounded item in red, it may be called as a Primitive Mod & substitute for a free flow air filter, as no K&N or other stuff are available in those days, i started experimenting with the things available. don't remember whether my RX gained /lost power by this mod

                      • Met with an accident in June 1988, when a stupid trucker, all of a sudden pulled his parked truck in reverse into my lane when I am doing above 90 kph. All the doors closed suddenly in 2 seconds; I couldnďż˝t sway the bike or nothing. All options closed, so I braked hard, (both brakes) the rear wheel locked-up and I hit the truck from behind very hard. (in the last second, I turned my head to left, so my right side banged against the truck)

Luckily the Police patrol saw me lying on the road (at around 11 PM) in a pool of blood and took me to a Govt hospital.

                        List of injuries:
                        1. Severe head injury as my head got banged against the truck
                        2. A loading hook on the trucks body pierced in between the jaw bone joint
(before the ear), so had difficulty opening my mouth for some 20 days
                        3. Hairline fracture on my left arm
                        4. Shattered right ear drum (recovered fully after treatment)

Not wearing a Helmet at the time of accident ďż˝ young & reckless . (Helmet is at home)

Discharged from hospital, went to see the bike at the police station, after checking the papers & driving license by the police, brought the bike back home (very surprisingly, it started in that condition after 3 or 4 kicks ! after being kept in the station for over 20 days) Inspected the bike for damages and made a list and went to the local Yamaha dealer, but he is out of stock, so went to another town 100 km away and bought the spares, repaired the bike to stock condition and started riding.

These are the mug shots took by the cops when they took the bike to Police station after the accident.Click image for larger version

                        • I am glad that you've made fully recovery and lived to tell the tale

Have to say, for a tiny bike which banged a truck at 90kph, it did take the impact well. I don't see much damages...or is it the pictures?

Yes, ur right, but i dont think the bike hit the truck at full speed (90 kph), because i braked very hard (both brakes) so the speed at the point of impact should be around 60-70 kph. i hit the truck from behind when the driver reversed it into the road. his intention is to reverse and go forward, as he turned slightly to left and parked with his engine in idle. so he needs to reverse it and then go forward. when he reversed, it just came to my path, and i thought its parked as he is off-road. at such a high speed it takes a blink of time to happen. so the bike's headlight hit the cross-member (rear end, where truck wallas paint it red & write some mindless slogans) of the chassis. the bike took the initial impact at the headlight/speedo, then i took the secondary impact (banged my head & upper body against the truck)

Now the best part comes. after i hit the truck and fell unconscious, the driver who had no assistant, got down the truck to check out the bang sound behind. the truck's engine stopped in the process.(the truck;s battery is already dead) the clueless driver was standing there looking for someone to push-start his truck. then the police arrived and caught him and locked him up. i got the driver's version what actually happen, when we both attended the court several times.

That means you and the bike had gone under the truck Or the trucker didn't bother walking down to the rear end of the truck to check out whats happening? Weird! How can a person not notice somebody lying in a pool of blood!
