I bought a Passion rear rim 5 months ago and it hasn't got Hero Honda written anywhere on it. It came wrapped in hero honda packing and stuff but nothing else except "3.00x18" punched on it. I've been running it with Bullet spokes no probs whatsoever.

        All the best sriram..

good to see u bringing the rx100's glory days back!

On an another note, I have a rx100 which I was planing to restore for the last 3 years but did not happen for lots of reasons.. hopefully will be shifting to chennai soon, and when I plan to restore it will bug you if that is okay
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

@All:- I'm on the cross roads on the rims. HH or Sandhar, which one?
Will get back on the clamps in a day or two Sriram.

            Wheel Confusion Simplified

Hero Honda Rims - Better in Quality & Heavy, Comes only with Size punched now a days, the old ones had HH on the side walls

Sandhar Rims - Better Gloss overall, light in weight & also will have RX 100 Punched in it along with the size. (This is the one I'm using right now)

Mandap Rims - Sourcing New ones will be next to Impossible, although i have old ones with me which needs only a chrome plating, will not suggest you as you're building new everything from scrap & this would be an eyesore later on.

Union Cycle Rims - Bought two of these recently on sizes of 1.4 x 18" for front & 1.6 x 18" for the rear for an other build you know about, amazing glossy finish, very light in weight and will take HH or Yamaha Sopkes directly to my knowledge, i might be wrong though but as Nitin confirmed that he's using HH spokes on Union's atleast one part is clear & as ur not into Union's now, w'll scrap this idea.

Concluding all these, i would suggest you to Try HH Rims for the following reasons:
            • Heavy duty rims than of Yamaha one's
            • Withstands Salty climate better than the Yamaha ones &
            • Finally, it doesn't come with HH Punched in it.
Whenever there is a Rainbow in the sky, I know it's u mastering the art of Cornering. U will always be remembered brother, R.I.P Arun.

I paid some 400-450 for a Mandap 1.8x18 (fits 3.0x18 tyre) rim just a week ago. They're available in plenty in Blore/Mysore.

HH rims are still the best. Just buy them from a HH showroom if you dont want to get more confused. Use splendor spokes with them. MARSHALL makes very good quality aftermarket spokes for all sizes.

HH spokes are thicker and 1mm longer i guess, i recently set my Z rear wheel with HH rim and spokes. always give 2 coats of paint inside the rim, one before fixing spokes and one or two coats after so that water wont leak from the holes

So they are tried and tested. No harm in using them.

Thank you all, I've decided to go for HH rims for this restoration.

Query:- With regards to chain sprocket, I've OE 5 speed (15-38) with me which is 1 teeth less at the rear compared to 100 (15-39). Let me know if 5 speed sprocket kit would hamper the performance.

Another interesting finding on my present RX100, will post the picture and discuss.

It shouldnt make a big difference. Your top speed might be even a bit more!

I was silently following this thread for all these days, this would be my first post in this thread. Sri is your bike 6v or 12v. I have heard that the later RXs which rolled out of the factory came factory fitted with a 12v.
