  • Hello Ray: I have a Deluxe, and it did not come with the Round silencers. It came with the usual Roadking Silencers.
But i managed to get a pair of those round silencers here in chennai for Rs 1800 a pair. New ones, not used and stored, small small scratches, but definately worth if you like the beat of the round silencers.

But i doubt if these had come in the 350's! they had a diff silencers. Maybe due to lack of knowledge ppl just put these as they were available in plenty when compared to the 350 silencers.
Correct me if i am wrong.

Nice set of pipes srini. Very fortunate buy that.

I do think you're wrong about the Deluxe because there is more than one that I've come across where the cut off pipes were factory fitted. Thing is however that on several counts, the Yezdi history seems a bit hazy with no clearcut correlation between year of manufacture and exact parts sported. I've come across single-owner Jawas (owned by friends' parents and suchlike) which actually came from the factory with the Yezdi Type B fittings (square footpegs, square tail light, etc.) and other weird anomalies. I think there were possibly years or periods when the deluxe did come with the cut off silencers and others where perhaps it didn't. Personally I have never come across a Deluxe with the regular Yezdi/RK silencers but its certainly possible.

As for whether its the same as the 350 or not, I have no opinion on it since I haven't owned a 350 and really haven't spent much time with the bike.

Speaking of which, is that now the only one missing from your collection Srini? That and a '61 tank switch Jawa eh?

      Cheers

      • Actually we cannot predict a year with a model. Roadkings used to come from 79 till 96. Lots of changes, improvements, trials. I had seen an Roadking with a clock, where the Key was there, and the key was shifted betweeen both the cups.

That man has a few more pipes of this kind. Anyone interested let me know.

The RD-350 itself came with 3 types of silencers. The first lot ('83-'84 High-End-Torque) came with flat or chopped ends, the second and third types were seen on Low-End-Torque models with proper taper like RX100 and midway taper (between RX and RD HeT types) respectively.

As for Yezdi 350, having owned 2 bikes I can vouch for the fact that the Y-350 and the Deluxe model silencers are the same.

          • Hi Sixspeedtwin,

I have attached a pic of Yezdi 350. The silencers are more rounded towards the end. As you explained that RD itself came with different type of silencers for its HT & LT models, this may be the case with Yezdi 350 as well. You are very senior to me and I respect you for that.

            Cheers!

Pic of my Y-350 from the rear ... the bike is in a bad state, but in stock form ... even has the 200 mm rear drum, which is extremely rare ... check the silencers from the rear. They match the Deluxe

                  Hello Jay,
It would be misleading to say ..." yezdi 350 mufflers look similar to RD 350" , just way decent distance from the stuff ,one can identify the difference, RD 350 muffler is SEAMLESS & shape also entirely different, compared with Yezdi 350 Mufflers .( Inside story is different, I mean the Baffle set up, convergent cone angle, core design etc.,) Me don't want to dig deep into this exhaust muffler matter,.let me stay Basic
@ six speed :You said Yezdi Dlx had same mufflers, Not sure about Clx version, But 'Yezdi MONARCH & Yezdi 350 shared same Mufflers
will post my Bi.....no my Yedi 350 & RD 350 Muffler picstommo

Avoid that mech at all costs my friend!!! He will have made you another of his prized fools.

The conversion should not be a bother if the mech knows his job correctly. I can hook you up with an awesome mech who is a pro at electronic conversion in case you are near Mumbai.

However, mine was converted to TCI not CDI, though the performance has been awesome after that on my D250.

Actually, I'm told by many that there is the slightest difference on the right-hand size case (where the CDI sits) on the inside. And the difference is required in order to fit the CDI. Apparently its not a straight fit. I personally haven't met anyone who's done the conversion though.

                            Could you please explain TCI?

                            Cheers

                              Transistor Controlled Ignition

                              The following links should help:

                              www.jetav8r.com/Vision/IgnitionFAQ.html

                              www.jetav8r.com/Vision/Ignition/CDI.html

However please note that the page is originally more than 10 years old. Most bikes today (not necessarily all Indian) use TCI even though CDI has been suggested to be better in these pages. I'm yet to find out why TCI is preferred nowadays.

In my case I think my module rests in the battery case so please excuse me if I have been wrong about the CDI enclosure.
