Re: My Rx100 restoration
kusmaker, why do you change gearbox oil on climatic condition? Not required at all. Yamaha never recommended and the grade you use got nothing to do with performance. Its 2T oil that either premixed or autolubed that moves the piston. Gearbox oil job ensures the smooth operation if bottom end.
Most of the time picture doesn't do justice, it should be slightly rust brown. The plug color looks OK to me. Try turning clockwise about half turn and see.
FYI...Yamaha recommends 1 1/2-3/4 turns after completely closing the airscrew. However the AFR might differ based on the altitude and season.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

imo buddy to tune the carb is the simplest one method .
i am doing this on my max r and victor gl almost 13 years without problem.
i was never needy to know what is exact procedure for that but i had done it hundreds of time and well satishfied with the result.
turn fuel flow stop screw such that rpm increase a slight and thereafter turn the air flow screw such that should be in sweet rpm spot (max),thereafter adjust fuel flow screw to around idle speed of 1250 , no rpm meter required at all to tune carb.
perform this setting when engine warm up .
if you still confused i think following link might works for you

Not all mechanics use tachometer. And Sriram is right about the number of turns ot takes to tune. Also picture is not clear but. The spark plug does look fine if not a bit on the whiter side. The engine oil only lubricates the piston as Rx is not a rotory valve afair so the crank is still lubricated by gear oil bro. Read the manual and use recomended low grade and high grade oils as required. Also your bike is on 2nd OS normal tuning doesn't apply so you might end up running it lean. Let me ask my mechanic the correct tuning for 2nd OS. Give me till the end of dasera(monday) and I will update you the same. Also if you still have your old carb see if you can use the parts from micarb in it. Mikarb, leak or no leak are soft metal pieces of shit. I am lucky my old carb lasted so long. Scour the threads a bit and try to source an old mikuni if you can if your old carb can't be fixed.

kusmaker , you don't need a mechanic if you are in this forum to know how engine works! Second, do plug chop before you play with airscrew. Remember not all bikes perform the same nor all mechanics can predict. So it is you, will need to set the tuning.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Re: My Rx100 restoration
Originally posted by kusmakerI believe 2t oil lubricates the piston, and gear oil or engine oil lubrictates the clutch and gears, but i got your point bro, in manual of rx-100 the recommended oil for transmission is servo super 30, and i have never seen this servo super 30 oil in market, in Rxg service manual it's clearly mentioned 20w40 oil, so i was using 20w40 from a long while only this season i have changed to Motul's 20w50 oil, though i found this oil quite good in summers but as the temp. in delhi is going down i feel i have to again change the oil to 20w40, which oil do you suggest man,all right man i will wait till you reply, no i haven't got the old carburettor for a long time it was with me but one day my mother sold useless items lying in the house to kabadi and with she also sold that carburettor, there is one more developement i have found another Rx-100 mechanic through a friend, i talked to him on phone and ask him about the crank refitting, what he said is that he usually doesn't changes the connecting rod so early, and try to repair it i asked him how do they repair an old connecting rod, what do they do about the existing play, he explained that new set of connecting rod is available in only standard size, so they use bigger bearing and different pin to correct the existing gap, is this the right way, also he told me that a genuine new unused crank is lying with him though it has caught rust but is fine and will cost me 1200/-rs, i will visit this guy tomorrow or on saturday and then will inform you what i felt after meeting with him, btw iam posting latest snap of plug which i took today after setting idling slightly higher.

Like I said before the size of the con-rod is standard. You cannot up the size or it cannot spin a full cycle its the thickness orrf the bottom end. The diffrence is in microns and you can't see it with the naked eye. Bigger cage bearing is an obvious must as the pin that the con-rod sits on wears out too. So he is right but the con-rod has two O-rings on each side between it and the crank. Make sure these arn't visibly thicker or there aren't more than two in total. If the old crank has no play in it and moves freely you can have it polished. Check it out, there's no harm in seeing it.
Your spark plug is on the whiter side a bit.

Obviously man i know.
So if the rusty crank is in the same condition and rusted then its not worth the trouble for 1200/- if he gives it for take it.

kusmaker , I responded in true sense, I'm noob to ice. But acquired knowledge is only shared by me. I came to this forum with no knowledge and still learning. If you obviously know on tuning thats wonderful. If that cheers meant some other way to you, I don't know what to say.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Re: My Rx100 restoration
Like I said before man............. I am glad to help.Originally posted by kusmakerAllright man when i will go to meet this mechanic i will also see this crank and then take a snap of it and will post the snap for you bro and have your expertise view, meanwhile i will richen the air mixture by half turn and see how the bike behaves after that, and thanks for giving so much of time and expert advise to me, really truly apperciable.

Come on guys. whats with the apologies and hurts. Are we here to talk about our bikes or start arguments? Hey everyone deserves help when needed. and here we get it from like minded experienced people. And as such it is our job to keep the forum from becoming a mess of apologies. so please no arguments.Originally posted by kusmakerSame thing on this side big bro, iam more noob than you and iam only trying to learn from expert guys like you, and trying not to make mistakes which i have made earlier, you are having special place in my mind, if i was aware of tuning than i wouldn't have asked you, i do tune my bike by myself but when iam talking to you then i will go by your advice only, as you know those things which i don't, to be honest that cheers felt to me like some other way, and if in any way i have sounded rude to you, and i have hurted you i apologize seriously and with my heart.
And please don't take things the wrong way or assume that you are being insulted. Here all who are present give their opinions and share their individual experiences and the knowledge acquired as a direct result of it. so just because one already knows things you advice him about doesn't mean he's being smart or he's gotten hurt. right?

Re: My Rx100 restoration
I had to take some action bro. This same situation I was in as well you see. I posted a comment to which another member replied in what felt like a condescending manner. so I took it upon myself to just explain myself. to which he simply felt insulted even though I meant no disrespect. such things create confusion and prevent members from getting the answers they need. Its a forum not a competition to see who is better.Originally posted by kusmakerRoger that bro will keep your words in mind.
Sorry if what I said was out of place man. Keep posting bro, would love to hear about your bike.

Originally posted by kusmakerGolden words bro, yeah man most of the time we ourselves make decisions on others behalf, other person might not have said the words in same manner in which we have felt, that's why i felt sorry and replied it to him, true man it's a forum to learn and help others and not for competition.
Why to be sorry bro you have said according to the need pls don't be sorry as i will feel awkward, i will keep posting bro as iam getting more and more passionate towards bikes and towards learning, infact today i remembered your words more on not to waste any thing which can be repaired, my bikes speedometer's needle starts to flutter as it reaches 50km/h, before that needle is smooth, but once it reaches 50km/h, needle tends to stuck at that speed for a very short while and thens starts to flutter and moves slowly, i went to my mechanic to check the problem, and he replied that speedometer is faulty and i have to replace it with newone, which will cost 570/-rs, i said ok and left the place, i then went to nearby market where a meter repairer has got it's shop but Friday is weekly off of this market, so i will visit him tomorrow and see what he has to say, i believe that meter can be reapired, and this guy repairs all kinds of meters.
Definitely bro i willl keep posting and will love to see your replies, and your expert advises.

Kusmaker.
I too agreed to follow whatever terms and conditions set by my friends for a fair platform.

Thanx Bro. see it is good to have a discussion you get to learn a lot from it rather than trying to one up ourselves.
About your speedo, Hey make sure you see what he is doing to it and what the components inside are, this is a good way to learn so you can DIY it next time. make sure you go with some time in your hand and insist on spot service. If you leave it there he may not do much but just charge you a lot for nothing.

My friend there is but one condition for a fair platform and that is that this is a forum for adults so there is no place for childish fighting and ranting. there are actually dedicated threads in this forum for that. Regarding sticker i dont know exactly about that but it glows sometimes in dark.
