So are you saying that the 710 or the Sprinta 5000 just aren't good enough to protect your bikes engines?Originally posted by torqu3e View Post

I'd agree with that. Good lubing and clean burn can never be an overkill... esp. when you have a bike whose parts aren't easily available. The only problem is 800 is just too expensive. Other issue (for auto lube users) is that its supposed to be used only as a pre-mix.

I dunno how you say that 800 is overkill in our bikes? With my RD revving to 8500 easy and stock RX doing 9500 in every gear, and ported RX doing 11k. I don't bother with anything other than motul.
Also FYI, 2t oil does not only lubricate the block/piston combination. But is the ONLY source of lubrication to your crank main bearings, big end bearings, and top end bearings.
You can avoid seizure by running a lil rich/backing off the timing etc, but you cannot avoid a screwed up top/bottom end bearing or main bearings except by running good oil.
Varies from person to person, but I love my bikes too much take chances with their engines.

710 will again be too expensive. My guess the price will be near about the 800's price. Thats why 510 is a more realistic option, and is now available.

I think the Motul 800 s overkill. We don't have 2T bikes here that really require it. Besides, its just too expensive. The Petronas should be good enough.
If only Motul got the 710 here. It would be ideal.

I'm afraid what you are saying is not correct in this context
To put it very simply, only API group IV and group V basestocks are considered true synthetics, technically. Legally, even group III and up, is synthetic.
Group IV and V are polyalphaolefins and esters. Hence ester based oils are considered true synthetics of the highest grade.
However, given the data you have given, Petronas 5000 with its PIB and ester base seems to be a true synthetic, technically.Last edited by Raccoon; 09-01-2009, 07:34 PM.

But is the VSX2 still available? Both the shell pumps here say there is no stock. One of them said they have ordered it months ago, but there is no more supply from Shell. It seems Shell and Castrol (Jet X) are pulling out of the 2 stroke business??Originally posted by torqu3e View PostShell VSX is a decent semi synthetic oil IIRC.
If you are running anything which ain't fully synthetic, so barring sprinta 5000 and motul 800, you should be running 35~40 ml to a litre.
Btw, Sprinta 5000 may not be a true fully synth product. Unless the company declares the tech details of its composition, the fully synth label could be just a marketing gimmick. Motul on the other hand declares its ester base, and so you can trust that to be a true synthetic.

Just topped up with Sprinta 5000 after using 500 ml of Motomix.

16-18 ml to a litre is too less.
Motul 800 2t you should be running about 25 ml to a litre on an RX. For motors which consistently see 5 digit RPMs, about 27~30 ml to a litre.
My stock 5 speed which does 9500 rpm in 5th runs on 30 ml to a litre of petronas Sprinta 5000 2t.
My ported piped RXZ runs 27~30 ml to a litre of Motul 800 2t.
My RD runs 27~30 ml of pure Motul 800 2t to a litre.
None of my bikes run the oil pump, just don't trust it(don't want a war here on that, I have my reasons.)
Shell VSX is a decent semi synthetic oil IIRC.
If you are running anything which ain't fully synthetic, so barring sprinta 5000 and motul 800, you should be running 35~40 ml to a litre.
You run motul 800 at 35~40 ml to a litre you will be fouling plugs every 15 kms that oil is so thick.

Highest rated 2 stroke oil currently available - Motul 510
Guys, Motul 510 has landed in India from France. It is now available in Pune with the distributor. For other cities, please contact Motul and request for it.
Save the fully synthetic ester based Motul (which is v expensive), this is the next best oil available in India
Advantages:
Its the highest rated oil in India - JASO FD. No other 2t oil of this rating is available
Highest engine cleanliness compared to any other oil in India; hence much lesser need for risky manual decarbing
Semi-synthetic/Technosynthese - ester based
Made in France
Those here who are using the expensive Motul 800 and mixing it with cheaper oils for economy can consider this much better option, as its anyway an ester based semi-synth. Furthermore, Castrol Jet X seems to have been discontinued and Shell VSX2 is also not available anymore (at least in Poona... don't know about other cities), we hardly have any half decent choices.
Guys, please consider trying this out. Future import of this oil will depend on whether there is some minimum demand for it. Price is a bit above Rs. 350/litre.
Those in Pune, can get their requirements right away from the distributor - 9850917992. Guys in other cities, if the product is not available with your local distributor, call/email the Motul guys who can make it available, depending on demand - 9920844428, 9920733582, abalwally at alsl.net, preetamg at alsl.net.
Please do post your reviews after using it.
