Are the sand crystals that hard to abrade the drum surface?

Still haven't recovered from it Sri. It had shattered all my hopes of entering the defense sector. Quite a big sum to pay for my stupidity.
    Anyways, lets keep this offline.

      See, its the brake shoes that has to be rough & not the drum. Cost of brake shoes are about 100+, while the drums is 750+;

I actually don't want to talk about it in a public forum Aargee . And moreover this is not the correct thread to do so.

            • There's lot & good ones too I infact made a big post on last Sunday evening, but just didn't want to update unless I'm 101% sure

              • Update

Clocked about 4158 till now & I changed the carb setting at 4010. Here's the color of spark plug until now. I'm assuming its burning a little lean now.

Guys, pls help me to conclude if its burning little lean & any tips if adjusting the airscrew will help or should I play with any other setting. Though the vehicle is smooth, I lost on the top end as I'm barely touching 100 compared to earlier 110 & I've lost on the pickup too. Pls advice. Tks.

                • Finally got hold of NGK BP7HS. What's more pretty news is that, I got hold of a stock that's 2+ years old. An original NGK, Made in Japan . I hope this will resolve any confusion related to NGK, Rx & the model number.

I need to Thank Sri for getting this to me indirectly.

                    • Welcome back @JD, this thread was almost dead without you

Whether bike is running good or not, I'm beginning to learn on tuning the carbs to an extent, so I'm now getting little confident on that part.

Its running smooth no doubt & the mileage has improved (earlier some moronic mech has set it too rich) & I'm able to top to 110 on speedo. I guess its still running rich & I need to figure out how to make a right mixture. The airscrew is what is troubling me a lot to learn.

                      • Whew!!! What a day today!!!

After changing to new front sprocket, the "tuck tuck" noise was gone, however, I was still not happy with something; so finally I decided to open up & change the chain. Started with opening the rear around 8:30 AM, removed chain cover, rear wheels & front clutch cover. Looking at the clutch hub (this was not changed in the build) I felt it needs to be changed & that too when I have one in stock.

So removed the hub & in between found the bearing went kaput!!! Man so much of noise from the bearing. So I decided to change it & bought a new one; then the oil seal/dust cover went kaput!!!

However I couldn't get the oil seal/dust cover & had to juggad it & put it back. Fixed clutch hub to rear sprocket, fitted the wheel & clutch cover.

Whoa!!! What a finish, absolute noiseless, the power of new chain & bearing are clearly visible. Finally fitted the chain cover & then adjusted the chain.

Took a spin for 2 Kms just now & I'm immensely satisfied; I've never ridden my Rx so smooth ever since I purchased it!!! This is why I do not prefer to change one part at a time & like to change things entirely, or rather the assembly as such.

Sry that I couldn't take pics as my hands were completely greased.

Good that you reminded me; I've changed my plugs also to the NGK (OE one) at 4080 & let me see how it goes. I've one full week to test the outcome.

Your clear diagnosis to the issue and fixing it is commendable! Happy riding.

Oh!!! No Sri, there's one more...change the wheel bearings which I haven't done till now though I've them with me. So what's stopping? The dust cover/oil seal are rare to find these days.

Heard through sources that the Pulsar/Discover motorcycles do not have this concept of dust cover/oil seal & hence are prone to more damages or wear & tear on the parts.
