My neighbour's dad is working here in Bajaj Auto and when he sits and chats with us he tells us many things about the production how what when,he says bajaj makes such vehicles, bikes, scooters where after 2-3yrs theres no life left and customer has to spend from his pocket for maintenance,he says no product quality at all, finally he says time is changing before we used to make legends in bikes, scooters now we make high priced plastic toys

As a boy, I was in love with KB100 very much & I used to cut the pics of KB100 from newspaper/magazines & put up on every notebook & walls. Once I started working, I landed up buying Max100. All my relatives were asking as why I didn't buy KB.
It was such a good motorcycle with a good balance to power, handling & economy, but using too much of plastics on it made the vehicle rattle a lot. It was after this, I was bitten by Rx bug & then remained Rx man till date
To my knowledge, this is the difference between Indian & Western manufacturers in terms of cost cutting...
West
- Company says, do cost cutting guys, so every vehicle manufactured will have few lesser bolt & nuts, but each bolt & nut will be little hardened
India
- Company says, do cost cutting guys, so every vehicle manufactured will have disposable items such as oil seal, dust covers missing; this will not only reduce our cost, but also vehicles will need more maintenance

I was arranging some of the old parts with me. I came across old head which was packed. To my surprise could not find any sign if it genuine one and not even sure if it belongs to RX135 4s. Please advise.
Here are the pictures.

Little difficult to say that Sri; May be some more close up on that 5/5 pic is better, especially during that 99.Originally posted by SriramEfundsI was arranging...RX135 4s. Please advise.

Sharing some experience with installing a 90/100 dynamo
17-Wed being a holiday, I took my 2 comp offs on 18-Thu & 19-Fri & had about 5 days in total
First 3 days spent in total...laziness
& the next 2 days were messed up with grease, oil, sleeplessness, phone calls, starvation & all the more...stinking
Saturday, I went to get a magnet puller for Rx so that I can replace my stock 12V dynamo to 90/100 dynamo. Got the tool & started the work around 2:30 PM. Meanwhile, I was able to grab a pair of disc pads for my disc brakes. I bought them as temporary measure so that I can prolong my R&D with Gladiator disc setup.
So I started the work on disc setup first as the front wheels were being removed & Rx was standing unbalanced. Took about solid 3 hours as this is the first time I'm replacing the pads & had to learn things hard way!!!
After that, I thoroughly understoood how to rewire back & then removed the clutch covers, removed the stock dynamo & then wired back the connection; then fitted the matching RR unit. I also bugged psycho98 & SriramEfunds for their help in fixing this. Guys, Thanks a lot, without which I WOULD've not been able to fix this.
So after fixing for the first time, the bike starts good, no issues, absolutely fine & I'm super excited; what a damn bright headlight & I could literally feel the heat from the headlight from the simple 35/35W. When I call up these guys, they give me another pointer that I've missed!!! Damn me
So remove once again & fit it back with a different position; boom & Rx goes kaput now. It doesn't start. By now its around 7:00 PM & fully dark, raining & I'm working with one hand as I'm holding the torch in the other.
I remove it once again & fix it back on the previous position & this time again Rx doesn't start, instead there's a burst in the exhaust with every 5-6 kicks. I'm feeling very terrible as I know I've messed up something bad & all the more, I played with something that was done right at first time
I call up psycho98 & roasted that poor soul
who was back from office. So again, I remove, fit it in a different position, but again it doesn't start. By now time is around 8:30 & Wifey is giving damn to me & Rx.
Finally I decide to give up & give one more attempt; this time it was successful, however, there was a double beat (sounded like HD; if you're thinking this is insane, but wait...more comedy to be unveiled). So I call it a day & pack up my tools & head to take my first shower for the day (now you know why it stinks) around 10:00 PM; had dinner by 10:30 PM.
Woke up fresh this morning, found there was a small washer slightly chipped at edge. Though it didn't matter, I replaced it, did it slow & meticulously & boom it works fine. Now I'm happy, fixed the cover, gear lever & it starts in 2nd kick. Excellent. I engage the gear & release the clutch and...what the hell
???

This is the one which a street mech conned sometime ago last year. I guess looking at this old head, even the head was replaced. So I'm not sure if it ever belongs to RX135 or not.Originally posted by aargee View PostLittle difficult to say that Sri; May be some more close up on that 5/5 pic is better, especially during that 99.
But why do you think its not genuine?
After joining this forum, learnt a bit about RX heads. They have special denotion with 4TL5 for 4s and 09L for 5s (if I remember correct). However, in this case, there is no such sign. Anyway good that I have kept it aside and using new 4TL5.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

I guess its a 99 Jul/Aug make; I could be wrong though, I'll let some experts comment. Also from the looks only few ppl can comment if its 4S or 5S head. I could make out nothing from it.
BTW, when did you buy your Rx? I know its sometime during 99, but which month?Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

4TL5 is mandatory for 4-speed head, this one is a fake. I will just confirm this again as my 4-speed engine is dismantled & i will go & check and click some pics & update.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostMy bike was bought in September 98 and it was manufactured in the month of July I guess.

I just recall one such incident when i was doing my PG. One of friends had purchased an RX135 4-speed (2004) brand new & he too was more of a addict to 2-Ts (He had a KB100 previously & upon persuation from my end he ended up purchasing RX135). He was against porting & stuff & hence we decided to upgrade to 5-Speed bore (4TL10) & he was quite happy with the performance after run-in period. I was using a ported 4-speed setup & somehow his bike was not able to match the pickup & top-speed of my setup.
So we finally decided to get this 5-speed bore itself ported. So we went to one of the reputed guys in Mysore & asked him if he could help. He said yes & then we came back in the evening to check the bike. We took it out for a spin to ring-road & boy the bike was doing something like 115Kmph on speedo. Then for some reason we stopped the bike & were looking near the engine & i realized at that time, that the bore has been changed. The mech had replaced the entire new 5-speed bore assembly with a ported 4-speed setup. We knew he had played a dirty trick & hence we went back innocently to him.
The moment he saw us, he asked, "Saar hege ide performance?" (Sir, how is the performance?), we said "Sooper" (Super).
Then in a flash my friend asked, "Bore Porting sakkat aagi madidira, but nanna Bore Kit yelli?" (The port job on this bore is very good, but where is my original bore kit?), the expression on that guys face was simply amazing. Without wasting another second, he went in & brought our 3000km old 5-Speed bore kit. We asked him to fit the bore back & left. The mech was speechless. That was my last affair with him.
Just for the knowledge of guys here, 5-speed bore is extensively used for Autocross & Rally racing here in Mysore. So every Mech wanted a piece of it for himself.

You mech might've played.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostBike cannot have a head which has a head with future date embossed!
I couldn't understand; are you saying 4TL5 will be embossed in the cylinder head in addition to cylinder? But, how're you saying this is a fake one?Originally posted by karthikdattag View Post4TL5 is mandatory for 4-speed head, this one is a fake.Last edited by aargee; 11-22-2010, 03:23 PM.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

sad yaar specially mechanic's cheat big time RX lovers as they know a person riding an RX will never go for another bike, its always good to know your own bike inside out atleast the basic this surely helps in alot from getting cheated .
I always do all the basic works almost all the maintenance on my own only carb cleaning, clutch setting, brake shoe change i give it to the mechanic that too i get it done in front of my eyes when he is sitting idle and has no work so that he has no excuse to give me(i have 3-4 bikes for servicing)
