      The mechanic might be right. If the rebore is not done correct i.e clearance, that might lead some audible vibrations emit from the block. When the bike is running it noise might not be audible Again, it is my personal opinion.

          +1;
          What happens here in local lathe is, these guys DO NOT have accurate measuring instruments upto microns. So what they do is, they simply take piston's size as reference & shave the cylinder. This is not good & suggested engineering way. The recommended gap between piston & cylinder walls are 20 microns from factory. Now imagine the shoddy job; these guys say that the clearance will be automatic due to wear & tear between piston & cylinder walls. My question will be, which one will get eroded? Piston or cylinder? Either cases, we're the losers!!!

            The bore can be bored upto 8 oversizes. Only the bore job and the piston should be right. Indian made pistons are available upto 4th over so you have one more life left.
            Regarding piston mods, it depends which piston he has used. Its usually a failure as it requires high precision machines and engineering. Hows your compression?

            • ^^^ Guessed it; are you saying the pistons itself are locally made @Yamdoot? Any specific brand or are they nameless ? Obviously my next question will be, reliability & your experience?

                • You'll need compression meter to carry out the compression test. The one I use looks something like this. I remember posting my tests on this forum somewhere, but unable to get.

                    Yes, with a compression tester like Aargee said.

                      • Previous read - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/thumpers-two-stroke-exotics/11324-rx-rebuild-using-3-yamaha-variants-77.html#post539128

                        I was literally terrified of holing the piston; but then I picked up courage & then was riding. Next Monday I took the Rx to office, but the heat remained as such whether I ride for a 3 Km or 30 Km, which was little convincing.

                        But for sure, I've now understood on how these things work (the fundamentals) after having fixed them all by myself & can confidently open up & put things back again

                        While at the office, my colleague who's a junkie lends his timing gun to check & asks me to follow theory. But when I go home, the damn gun doesn't work. One week passes by fiddling to learn how it works.

                        Next week, I got it working, but it would keep lighting even at a plastic ; damn back to square one. But for sure, the heat atleast remains far better than what it used to be before; no issues with top end or pickup or smoothness. By now, the gear shifts are smooth, excellent idling (trust me its the same old TM28 ) & things started looking good.

                        Coming up...experience with changing 35/35 to 60/55

                            I guess its yet to get approved; anyway, I've seen this overall last week; I'll bring in some tools this weekend & we'll look into it. I'll be there provided it doesn't rain & my fever subsides.

                              Yes, it is yet to be approved by the mods. Thanks for offering help to my issue. Overall, I had always negated the idea of opening the case due to the fact that I did not felt necessary. Hmm... let's see what would resolve this issue.

                                Did you pin point the leakage SRI? I have seen many RXs with hairline cracks in their crankcases.
