5 Speed conversion

If you are planning to convert your 4 speed RX-135 to a 5 speeder, its a very costly affair these days. You will need the following parts for a proper conversion:
- 5 Speed Bore Kit (Cylinder, Piston, Rings etc.)
- 5 Speed Head
- 5 Speed Gearbox (entire or conversion kit depending on the state of your current GB)
- 5 Speed Carb (You can also use your current carb. Experts on the forums suggest the 4 speed carb may be better)
- 5 Speed Sproket kit
Also the finer points if your into getting the looks right as well
- 5 Speed engine casings
- Repaint of tank and panels with 5 speed decals.
All in all, with current rates of spares you are looking at an expenditure of close to 15-20K upwards excluding labour and other small stuff like gaskets etc. (This also depends a great deal on where and whom you source the parts from)Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!

I do have the following parts.
Standard size 5 speed bore kit ( cylinder, piston, ring)
5 speed cylinder head.
RXZ 5 speed carburettor. I think there is a difference in the carbs of 135 4 speed and RXZ. the carb on the Z is bigger. Even the jets. 135 jet size is 115 i guess and on the z its 135. correct me if i am wrong. and even while comparing the side by side the carb of the RXZ is slightly bigger.
Actually my bike was standing in my garage for 8 yrs. its condition has detoriated a lot bcoz i wasnt able to ride it. I have started the restoration process and the bike is complete and its all original and stock except the bore on 2nd size. I want to convert it to 5 speed so am searching for the parts required. i am really in need for the parts.
so according to your suggested parts i require the following
5 speed gear box.
5 speed engine casings.
can any one help me please as to where can i get these parts and yes can u please also let me know about the cost of these parts.
really appreciate your reply PAIN.
regards,
Sohaib

You can use your old RX casings if they are in good shape. A 5sp. gearbox should cost about 5-6k used. There are no new original gears available.Originally posted by sohaibak View PostThanks for your reply

Does it mean that i do not have to change engine casings for converting my gear box to 5-speed? I had been under the impression that i will also have to change the casings also for the conversion. If it is possible that i can keep my stock casings and still covert the gear box to 5 -speed it would be really great. My bike will still look stock but would have an awesome surprise underneathOriginally posted by yamdoot View PostYou can use your old RX casings if they are in good shape. .
Does it mean that i would only require the 5 speed gear box only? please let me know.
And thank you Yamdoot for sharing your knowledge.

Sohaib.
