yup, very difficult to get OE spokes here in india. So got them from there. And new parts for the front hub, like the spacer, dust covers, meter drive etc.Originally posted by bhpistorqintorpm View Postcongrats!! now get on with the build.. can't wait to see the 'completed' bike.
yeah makes sense..
- the disc brakes.. what set up is that?
- carb looks different from the stock.. did you order something specific for the build?
PS: you even got wheel spokes imported !!
The bike has been completed once, i should have some pics with me ( around April last year ). At that time, the engine was rebuilt only with new bearings, and seals, and the rings were changed. The block was first oversize, and the crank was as good as new. ( the bike had done about 30,000 kms with the first owner ).
These parts were the ones that i could not replace ( Having replaced everything else, other than the frame and swing arm, yup everything else, new forks, tank, panels, etc. ).
The disc kit is from what the 5 speed used to come with. The current one is working fine, but then when you are replacing everything, then might as well do these bits as well.
Waiting for the disc, caliper, and the necessary bolts/mountings to arrive. Then everything should be completed.
Incidentally the disc kit is the most expensive that i have seen!!! around 4k for the master cylinder, 4.5k for the caliper, and another 4k for the disc. Nearly 13k with the hose, and bolts etc. But worth it for sure. The build has already crossed the 1L mark, including the bike ( around 16k plus transfer etc )
Thanks man. I was very very happy with the quality, and the finish. Totally worth the wait and the money.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View Post@JD - Congrats! Finally arrived! Wow! OE Yamaha parts all over the floor. The Barrel looks good. I'm able to see rest of the parts are going to make the bike look stunning. Off all, I wish you don't postpone due to lack of time and say 'I got held up!'. Try to get them on the bike soon and flash this forum with the some beautiful pics.
Any specifics?? i can take pics, but im guessing by this weekend or the next one, its all gonna get fitted into the engine. The disc and caliper are still to arrive!Originally posted by yamdoot View PostUFF!! maza aa gaya JD! need to see more close up pics of the pistons and crank and disc set and .. everything!
BTW, can i sell off my old parts?? like the carburettor, crank, block, disc kit etc??? They are in pretty good shape and would really come handy for someone looking at rebuilding on a budget. I ordered the caliper and master cylinder bush/seal kits, to re furbish the existing disc kit.
Thanks for the appreciation guys... makes me wanna get this baby on the road asap!!!
Yeah, one last item was pending. Headlight, Big bore came as a relief on that!!!
one more thing, the imported chain set is 15/37, and the indian one is 15/38... Any suggestions on what to use?? or try both out and see what works well??? I was thinking of running in on 15/38 and then switching to 15/37 for better top end.

Will do. Though the port dimensions, are exactly the same as the 14.5 bhp block. No difference at all. Though the ports are also powder coated black which was kinda confusing, since its running fine on the other block, so dint bother.
This is a 3KA block. not a 4Y.
The piston make is IZUMI. I took a pic of it, its there in the pics.

Yes im aware that this is a 3KA block but is it made by 'YP' which is also Indonesia-Yamaha. What does the box say? By 14.5 bhp, do you mean the earlier black block you had or our 5 speed one? Coz the ports have to be different from our 5 speed block.Originally posted by jd666 View PostWill do. Though the port dimensions, are exactly the same as the 14.5 bhp block. No difference at all. i dont have the spares with me to check what the box says. But ill will check and let you know for sure.Originally posted by yamdoot View PostYes im aware that this is a 3KA block but is it made by 'YP' which is also Indonesia-Yamaha. What does the box say? The earlier bore that i got, and this one both are same. And these blocks are identical to the 4TL10 blocks that were available in india. So all are 14.5 bhp blocks.
You are forgetting that this is the disc brake model of the RXZ. The spokes are longer than the normal one, since the hub is smaller. Someone told me the TVS Fiero spokes work instead also.Originally posted by gabriel_john View PostJd i dnt know whether rxz spokes different but i got spokes OE pack for my rx 135 (4) speed its been a week ...

Looks awesomely beautiful to my eyes. Much more than machine, much more than motorcycle part. You wouldn't believe, if I said, I'd goosebumps looking at them
And few closeup shots on the parts gives me a feeling that, they're build up of highest quality (eg master cylinder).
Good to see them & wish I were atleast in Delhi, to see those parts on Rx

Its a local cylinder kit manufactured in Indonesia. You get these 3KA series cylinder kit in JC road (Bangalore) for a mere Rs.4000/- or even less. And Izumi piston !!!!!!! ART is the best anyday.Originally posted by yamdoot View PostYes im aware that this is a 3KA block but is it made by 'YP' which is also Indonesia-Yamaha. What does the box say? Guys this 3KA series cylinder kit is not anyway related to the Indian RX135 5-Speed (4TL10) cylinder kit. I have had many many guys trying to use this kit & having a bad experience. If the intent is to travel from point A to point B, then go ahead & purchase this stuff, but if the intent is for real RX performance, then stay away from these.
Anybody wanting this 3KA series can get it locally, no need for Importing this kit. The original cylinder kit for RX-K was '4Y2' series, which peaked at 18BHP & is almost impossible to find now.
Will need to look at the con-rod & also the carb in detail. I have a whole damn RX-Z 6-Speed (Malay model) standing in my friend's place, the carb should be the same.
I am not going to comment any further on this whole scenario, i assume guys here are experienced enough to find the difference between Genuine & Fake!!!! DIY will be way to go.
Otherwise good effort in sourcing the parts.

Karthik, yes the King once had the 4Y2 bore but that was on a Japanese King. Once the production started locally, the number changed to 3KA producing 14.5 bhp. However, the later model King, 2004-05 was again made 18.5 bhp with a 26mm carb.
The Indonesian Yamaha is known as YP and so the numbers on the block - YP1, YP2. 3 and 4 . I have seen both the fake and OE 3KA barrels and im sure JD has got the right stuff.
Ofc. the piston is IZUMI which is OE to the King there and has to be replaced with ART.Last edited by yamdoot; 04-16-2011, 02:18 AM.1985 Yamaha RD350 HT
