The catalytic silencer is the original silencer.....When i gave it for porting the engine i tried the rx-100 silencer but the bike started to miss fire so brought it back to the catalytic silencer....Didnt understand the problem....My bike has a very quick acceleration but top is only upto 105 max....after that the engine sounds as if its gonna burst.......and feels like its screaming in full power which i feel is like i am hurting the bike...!!!Originally posted by karthikdattag View PostFirstly, why would anyone use a catalytic silencer (big one) when the bike is modded (Engine mods) ????
If the cylinder is ported & someone uses a heavily restricted exhaust system, you are screwing the cylinder big time. Its like you eat & eat, but can't shit, then you know what happens !!!
Boring the cylinder to 150cc doesn't give any sort of performance (with the ports being untouched). This is FYI only.
Please understand what performance means & go through some threads here & you will have an idea of what real performance means.
Answering to your question, using a Performance Air filter like K&N or Pipercross on your existing setup (with catalytic) will make the bike howl. Acceleration or top-speed will not increase. If you dont believe then buy one, fit it & experience it yourself. If you want to use the battery, then it needs to be removed & connected in other side (Air-Filter box side) with the help of clamps.
I have 2 RX135s, both are stage 3+ ported (This is probably the max you can do when we catagorize it as street legal), i dont use any fancy filters nor any battery. Choice is yours.
please give me some advice what do to....

sorry to quote you bro, but when we are boring a cylinder for bigger piston each and every port gets modified, yes the height will remain same but width will change(and some port angles too).Originally posted by karthikdattag View PostBoring the cylinder to 150cc doesn't give any sort of performance (with the ports being untouched). to make a bigger piston work sometimes we have to narrow down a port also.....
ps. i liked your green machine, looks hot...

I have both formats on each of my bike. The green one you had a look is running a 5-speed bore kit with 2nd O/S ART piston & the black one is running a 4-speed bore kit with 6th O/S Imported racing piston. Boring doesn't alter the ports or the port timing in any way, not that i have heard of. Reboring is different & porting or chamfering is a differnt thing all together.Originally posted by insane_x97 View Postsorry to quote you bro, but when we are boring a cylinder for bigger piston each and every port gets modified, yes the height will remain same but width will change(and some port angles too).

Even if the ports are cleaned & polished during re-bore job, it will not give any noticable gains as far as top speeds are concerned.

The catalytic silencer is the best choice for stop & go traffic, for ex. Bangalore traffic. It aids the low end torque so much, that the front wheel starts popping up everytime the bike enters power band. But then thats the end of it, for top end it starts loosing steam because it is built that way. The idea of using such an exhaust system was to restrict the power output and also control the pollution norms.Originally posted by heavenrider View PostThe catalytic silencer is the original silencer.....When i gave it for porting the engine i tried the rx-100 silencer but the bike started to miss fire so brought it back to the catalytic silencer....Didnt understand the problem....My bike has a very quick acceleration but top is only upto 105 max....after that the engine sounds as if its gonna burst.......and feels like its screaming in full power which i feel is like i am hurting the bike...!!!

Once you start playing around with ports, you must make sure that the exhaust system & the carburetion should be able to keep up to this new demand. Let me explain it in simple way, Let us consider the human body for ex. you, "You are very hungry, real hungry & you need lots of food (The bike needs more petrol when modified, such as portings etc), not only should you be able to digest the food but also do proper excretion. If you are constipated, then there is stomach upset & whole system will collapse."
This is exactly the problem in your bike. Check the jetting, and keep aside the catalytic & use a Expansion Chamber for higest performance, else atleast try the RX135 chrome silencer & do some mods for a free flow atleast. Its very common here in B'lore, we have lots of RXs running on un-restricted pipes.
Please consult some expert 2-T tuner in your area. We can only give tons & tons of advice here, but ultimately its the tuner who will set it up for you.
Best of luck.

Can u pls put some more light on this thng...Originally posted by karthikdattag View PostTry re-winding, with higher turns & then use a 55/60W bulb. This might help & maybe quite cheap. All this because you a student. Once you start earning, go for a 90/100 Kit with associated CDI, Iridium Spark Plug & a 90/100W Halogen bulb.
Any mechanic from delhi NCR who can do this job???

I consulted that electrician in Sector 9. He did a winding job, but no remarkable improvement in light. As he said to visit again, I will go there on Tuesday. It costed me 150 Rs only. Let see if it does work...Originally posted by Maharaj View PostM trying...
