@ Atul
I ride like a maniac when im in the mood boss which is around 40% of the time . whats the point in having a piped 2 strokers , if ur not gonna yenjay it ??!! Yeah its not worth draging with the nut jobs , but get an open stretch - i would go for it . Why not boss ? Wont pull off suicidal moves , have my limits but a lilttle , how u say - gand chilli , im always game for
, good score on the Esteem . If u bump up ur budget a little bit after B school ( check ur inbox on FB ) u could go for an old City VTEC . How cost efficient/ doable / usuable are second hand HM Lancers souped with imported and tricked out EVO engines and suspensions ?

Come ON!!!!!!!!!
Nobody's paying any attention to the fact that it is a thread to discuss 2T bikes
(I have deep respect for both Atul Bhai and Basu Sir, but they are ignoring my question).
I'll repeat it for the general benefit of others as well......somebody may hear it this time (except Aditya.. who very kindly replied)
How can an RX be modified to have an electric start?
Thank you all for your enthusiasm

All I can say is we had tried it once without much success. Although it's a 98cc engine, but getting the appropriate self and assembling it is a complicated process. On top of that you have issues with the electricals. The standard 12v bat that would fit on the RX cannot take a self-starter load. You would need a bigger battery and you have to make arrangements to plonk it in the bike. You also need to make appropriate modifications to charge that battery. Trial/errors/doing/redoing involving lots of time and lots of patience. And even if you are done, the stability and usability issue remains.Originally posted by 1eighty View PostCome ON!!!!!!!!!

On an end note, kick start your RX. It feels nice. You would also be doing some knee exercise in the act.

The emotional attachment I bore with the Esteem,is what I still bear with my Shogun.Shogun was the bike that taught me how to ride a motorcycle.......those younger years,I was in 7th standard.Knew nothing about bikes, simply wanted to ride, make noise and smoke, pose like a macho dude infront of my classmates. All that came at the cost of when I didnt knew how to ride, unusual revs and falls and still carrying me on its shoulders. Some elder boys used to smoke me,but I was a child then. All I knew is to downshift to go faster, but after braking, didnt knew what to do,but I still lingered in their RVMs.
Then came a time, when I was in my first year of college,I had to part ways with it.A rally person took the bike from my Dad to the hilly areas.6-7 years since,I grew up,honed my skills, grew knowledgeable @Xbhp.Bought my own new bike,I realised, that I can now do some serious numbers on the roads and the streets, learnt the art of smoking.......but my dear bike was not there.Hence I tracked it back and found it,though it was lying in a corner of a warehouse in chilling cold with an engine seized for over 3 years.I brought it back.
I feel like I never was quite able to give this bike what its deserves. Now that I have it back,I am gonna beef it up with quality parts, original piston, crankshaft and clutch plates, fibre reeds, free flow air intake system, bigger carb, shorter final drive, irrdium sparker, polished and widened intake and exhaust port, beefier front forks, rectangular box swingarm, michelin tyres, paint job,HID bixenon, big battery and DC electricals.
I really want to make my Shogun the boss.People would eventually learn to respect it.My bike would be stock, just with more quality parts.......lets see how it goes after this.My Shogun would be a bike that would teach some dumb 4Ts respect........and that respect would come from performance and not from the namesake.

Some Wisdom......
MACH50..
I guess whoever has the passion for bikes(Indian Bikes) will definately have some knowledge of SHOGUN otherwise these guys are not worthy enough.
People like my mechanic who still remembers the SHOGUN's ad who now works only on 4strokes can go on and on about shogun like how in its hay day the college kids used to come for advise to make it more powerfull and all.
I wonder if any remembers or know anything about the SHOGUN ad.
So all i want to say is people who know about this bike they still respect it and people who dont they are not worthy or will find it on their own it doesnt have to prove anything.
Some people dont even know what SUZUKI SHAOLIN is, these are the people who are selling TVS spares, the guy even said 'you might have mistaken for shogun' when i started hunting for the spares, i mean the bike was out of production just 10 years ago.
Peace Out.2012 TVS APACHE RTR 180 ABS.
2000 TVS SUZUKI SAMURAI.
1999 TVS SUZUKI SHAOLIN.

not sure about it......but during my college projest we did convert an auto rickshaw engine to self start (dont laugh),we did i by adding a ring gear to the rotor (magnet rotor )and connecting starter motor to it using the bendix ,the starter and ring gear was from a lml supremo(i guess)Originally posted by 1eighty View PostHow can an RX be modified to have an electric start?Kawasaki KB100/enduro/125 substitute parts list http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/508615-post105.html

Wow, i dint know my reply could trigger of so much commotion. Lovely.
But remember guys at the end of the day i too am a 2-stroke lover & thats why in memory of 2-strokes i started this particular thread.
@ Atul, i dint mean to offend anybody. Its just that when something is worng it needs to be pointed out. Maybe my way of doing it, is more aggresive (Just like my RX), but trust me, intent is not evil.
@ Swingarm, no comments dude, you are an ex-rally racer, someone like me cant just match the intellegence level of yours.
Thanks for all the support guys. I am always open to help the fellow 2-strokers.
Thanks.

Back to bike issues, electric start is technically possible for any IC engine. For an RX, there is no space. And as vampire pointed out, for an RX not a very hard kick is required to bring it to life.Originally posted by 1eighty View PostCome ON!!!!!!!!!

How can an RX be modified to have an electric start?

I too had some thought on doing it, but quite frankly it looks really girlish (Sissy to be more precise) pressing the button.
