Have gone through this thread.. Excellent.. I had a plan to buy & restore a KB100 sometime ago. I dropped the idea later. But im sitting on some OE spare parts of KB100. Most of them are being shared among my FB 2-strokers nowadays. Had a new bore kit. gave it away last week. Now have new meter assy, OE pricol speedo inner assy, casings, cables, Tail Light assy [lumax], Escorts Mahle pistons , some Fenner-Pioneer oil seals etc Most of them are already sold out. Just telling you people that you can still source KB100 parts @ old shops & bajaj dealerships.

Does Bajaj offers support for KB100? Spare parts like muffler joint gaskets are available at bajaj dealerships?

most dealerships do not offer any support for kb, if you know somebody personally at the dealership then you can try placing orders through them , or go through the old stocks available at the dealerships if available, also kb 100 did not use joint gaskets , they used silicon/rubber rings for the seal, if that is not available try some sealing rope

            few more from jaysheel[/QUOTE]

I can't help but noticing that the seat is in a bad condition. Seems to be the bane of KB 100. Even my bike's seat goes completely flat after using it for 10 minutes. A good replacement was available in Tirupur but was very expensive Rs 1000 with PU foam I believe.

I must admit that the bike has turned out well and I believe it is being used for daily commute which is great.

I am just back from a short visit to Pune. Being the Bajaj kingdom, Pune still has an assortment of Bajaj autos (I saw quite a few 80s model 2 strokers still in Pune). Also happen to see a healthy collection of Bajaj M 80s and KB 100s. I am sure there are still parts available in Pune.

Yes the seat is definitely a problem with the KB. I got one made last weekend. The metal plate base with the PU foam. Got it made for 700. But the mounting plates is what i dont have. The earlier ones were rusted, Need to find a way out to fix this. Meanwhile, I am scouting for a petrol tank float. at the moment not available in BLR.

Muffler exhaust rubber O rings, are available at Devi Automobiles, parallel to the Commercial street.

Finally, I would be getting my KB ready after a looong wait, next week. will post the pics once done.

Got the bike finally and it looks stunningly beautiful more than I can reminiscence of the stock wine red that it was earlier. The bright RED of the I -10/ Punto looks very flashy in a crowd with lots of chrome dripping. Few attachments though the right hue of the colour isnt well represented as these pictures were shot ona 5 mp camera phone and they are not true representation of the colour and lighting.

The seat clamps were salvaged from the scrapyard.

Now whats left out is a petrol tank float!

a complete makeover of the bike. The engine was untouched. A Few niggles like the speedometer not working, higher idling, brake switch issues... I need to find someone who can make stainless steel letters for the bike tank.

As Venkan mentioned, Pune would be the right place to lay hands on a few parts that are not available here in BLR

Hi subash, congrats on the refurbished bike. Could u refer me to a mechanic in bangalore who still knows his way around kb100. In the past my bike has been screwed up by a few local mechs.

                      Eager to see ur bike.

                        Hi subash

Lovely bike. You must feel proud!!

May I ask where did you source the bent-pipe holder from. This is the ring with 2 screw-holes that connects bent pipe with engine block.
Mine is broken and am unable to get it anywhere.

A couple of pointers for the parts you are missing:
                        - Tank & side panel signs (KBajaj & KB100) are available in Bangalore. Try Balaji Auto on Commercial.
                        - Your taillamp doesnt have side reflectors. Try getting the Lumax one. Same store
                        - Can also get the big chrome screws that hold the side-covers.
                        - I see that you have already put the clear coat. Did you leave out the stickers or couldnt source it?

                        Regards

Oh yes! I am feeling great.

The bent pipe holder was the original. The rubber kit ( 3 pcs)- were bought from DEVI Automobiles 3rd Parallel street to Commercial. Try Prem Motors opp the Shivajinagar Bus stand, there could be a possibility.

As for the painting, no clear coat was applied. But I ensured that after the first coat, it was rubbed down with a 1000 mesh, repainted, then again rubbed down and then repainted. So the base was well done. A good rubbing and it was gleaming.

Tail Lamp is a Lumax, one. Got this from Trichy, DJ Auto before I scouted for them from BLR.

Stickers - Deliberately left out. I am contemplating the "stainless steel" - 1" letters of Kawasaki one either side of the tank and the round stickers ( 4") that come on gearshift side, I need to look out for.

I woudn' suggest the mechanic with whom I worked with because he took a neat 9 months to get the bike into shape and without having to touch the engine department. There was this guy in Vijayanagar who worked on Ymaha and RTZ way back in 90's and he could tune the Carb for Rally performance. I will visit him sometime and see if he is still around. Its been more than 2 decades after I shited out from West Bangalore to the Eastern side.

I have changed the Speedometer cable along with the worm & wormwheel( plastic) but the damn thing doesnt seem to work. Could someone throw some reasoning on this. Do you think the socket where the worm sits would have worn out and is therefore, unable to mesh correctly?

Apparently, the cable outer as well as Inner ( suprajit make) bought fell short in length by about an Inch. This was vouched by 2 mechanics. Therefore, took the cable and ask thevendor to give me a longer one - the result, " Not working".

Will now have to open it up and find out this weekend on the problem. Meanwhile, any inputs on the issue are welcome.
