@psr, kb100, bluesmoke : i am truly humbled by what you think of my endeavour of resurrecting an old bike. were it not for the prompt advice and help from you gentlemen, i wonder how much longer it would have taken.

the post about the carb overflow is my way of expressing my gratitude for the experienced members - psr, powertwin, yamdoot and kb100 - who were always present to offer guidance and pitch in with spares.

i've noticed that i am now a senior member on the forum. at heart, i'm still a rookie lapping up every bit of wisdom about things i don't have a clue about.

      • YES!!!!!! Carb stopped leaking! Changed the float! Yes Yes..Karol Bagh! Thanks Rookie! Shes running like dream btw. Changed the clutch plates as well. She's got this 'tight' 'fresh' feel to her. It's like everything is fixed and not rattling or loose y'know what i mean...

a - the tang is not properly adjusted so inspite of the float rising with the fuel level, the needle valve is not pressed.

b - the float has sprung a leak through which fuel seeps into the float making it heavy and thus it does not rise enough.

c - the needle valve is stuck.

d - the needle valve is worn so in spite of being pressed by the tang, it does not seal the fuel inlet.

f - look for a new carb or an old carb body from the junk market.

          hope this helps
Wow!! that is some piece of info. Great!

Da, I got my RX's carb cleaned, but the small brass pipe (over flow) which comes inside the bottom cup of the carb got break while cleaning and replaced it .Thank god it was in stock at Remya.

As u can see in these images she is in pretty bad state and the list of parts to be replaced is pretty long…to make matters worse original parts are hard to come by thanks to bajaj..
You guys won’t believe the level of abuse that she had undergone in the last 5 years since last rebuild…for starters she ran for 5years without an air filter change…
Order for parts have been placed at the local dealer for parts and have started to trickle down those which are not available will be substituted with similar parts from other models. Tried to hunt for parts some time back in tvm and Chennai… found out that parts are available for everything from Yamaha to yezdi but not the kb..until I stumbled onto a shop selling everthing in my city right under my nose

Finally some thing that I came across in a magazine a few years ago the disc valve technology that Kawasaki uses its 2 stroke bikes was in fact perfected by bridgestone in 60s and wsa transferred to Kawasaki in the 70s as the emission norms were getting tighter and bridge stone wasn’t interested in developing 4strokes….the bikes developed by bridge stone were so superior and ahead of its time not to mention its bullet proof reliability tht they were constantly used in racing models like 350cc gtr and gto developed 40hp and had top speeds of 100-110 mph and 0-60 mph time of 6sec figures that were barely matched by the rd 10-15 years later

P.S sorry for the image quality…it was taken with a phone cam
What a thread! Seeing the pics of what was my very first bike, that too in the self-same "burgundy" colour brought on a huge amount of nostalgia.

I got this bike in 1993. In fact, she was a gift to me from my parents after attaining the rank of Captain. My dad sold her in 1996 when I went to a field area. First, my best friend in my unit and I went to Vaishno Devi with it. Next, my newly wed wife and I toured Shimla, Solan, Kullu, Manali etc on it. Dammit, my kitchen was equipped by doing the rounds of Jalandhar on this bike.

I had chosen her over the RX as I thought she was a clearly superior design. Even today, I remember thinking back then "if she were to have a simple 250 cc 4 stroke engine, she would have been the queen of tourers". Long wheelbase, superb instruments, great big 130mm drums at the front and rear...

Every Sunday was spent in the same manner - me tending to her lovingly with a glass of beer while my wife relaxed in an easychair by my side making small talk and enjoying my interest in bikes. Those were the days with the KB - 100 RTZ.

dont , whatever little power you think you will make by adding a second exhaust will be spent overcoming the weight of the extra silencer, .....if you still want to go down this path then you will have to procure a second exhaust with bend pipe then cut it (butcher) to change the orientation of the mounting brackets reweld it back,re-plate it and then connect it to the existing bend pipe, ...........also there is a fair chance that you might end up loosing power instead of gaining it

its a kb100 all right but not an rtz , what you have is a rare example , its very hard to find kbs that are as old as the one you have, even the tank and side panel badges are the originals , overall you have a very descent machine , a little spit and polish can work wonders on it

                    • This one doesn't have the resonator box...is it possible to source a resonator box and fix it without much drama..?Will it make any improvement in the power delivery, refinement and mileage?? Also whats the diff btw the rtz and my bike?? I guess the seat was recently done it was my uncles bike he gift it to me 3 years ago.. and all the matte black paint job on the exhaust engine chain guard was a DIY job by me to avoid rusting..hope i haven't ruined the classic image of the bike..
