I am not too sure about Sunday evening since I am not much interested in watching TV.

6a.m in the morning meet at Somathne Phata toll gate. We will do the Amby - Mulshi stretch which is generally in bad shape. Should be back to Pune by 10a.m

Regarding the off-roading session...will discuss more about it with you when we meet..

There is only 1 guy coming with me..not 2. He has been to many bike rides(he's not a biker though like us..viz. riding with all-gears..he's more of a trekker) to many places in Maharastra..!! Has a quite a bit of experience in riding in various conditions..!! Once he has been to Rohtang pass too..!!

But, when he would be coming with us for the ride..he would be coming fully geared..no 2nd thoughts about it..!!

Yesterday Mumbai gang had a Pre-Leh g2g after Iron Man 2 g2g followed by Afternoon Pub g2g...

As TWO already Leh'ed guys (Razor & Winzee) were there with everyone from Mumbai gang Soon-to-get-Leh'ed were present, we just randomly decided to discuss things about Leh & the Plan.We discussed from Gears to Tyres & Bikes to Leh, almost Everything including who is riding when, how & with whom.
We also went to AH helmets where we got the first glimpse of Satyen's Tail bag & we also checked on gears/things to buy for the trip. We also decided upon what need to be taken & what not. We also discussed about the probabalities / possibilities on ride with Pune guys as well.
There will be another g2g, where we'll check & get everything possible from the list (only useful things).

Alankar & Satyen are riding together on 28th night / 29th early morning, i.e., 3 AM of 29th.

Motor is not sure, but will probably leave with Satyen n Alankar or will start separately on 29th evening at 5 PM with Inder (if he is riding)
OR with Spider (if he is starting on 29th)

I (Spider) will start either on 29th evening with Motor or solo on 30th evening.

^I still stick to my word of asking MotorB to NOT to ride like a ZomB with SpyD!

Things needing urgent attention:
-Inder please confirm if you are riding or going by Train
-Inder, whats the scene with boots. I guess Winzee and Motor also need them.
-Mumbai group to give me papers and the money for the Permits (Please meet me at Panvel -8 /Fountain Hotel by 7)
-We DONT have a GPS, I tried sourcing for one but not luck... as a stop gap measure I have thrashed my old phone with an ultra light OS and it has a Basic GPS APP on it and a *cough* version of GARMIN navigator.


Me, Winzee and Alankar, would be riding on 28th night. This includes a stop over at Ahmedabad (in noon) and taking rest there, and then proceed to Udaipur at 4-5 in the evening.

The asking price for this one is 3k, I have booked one for myself not just for this trip but otherwise as well. The capacity is more than the colt! plus the metallic D clips ensure you can latch stuff on it with the bungee cords.
PS: With small alterations, it could be used as a tank bag too :P

Hey Satyen, please educate me where did you buy this saddle bag from? Is it 3k for two? Looks like much better stuff than the cramster ones.

Thats not a saddle bag, but a tail bag.
Its 3k for everything that you see as the bag. Its based on a design made by Ketan, but just redone to help it become a touring boon.

Here is the list of changes done to the original bag:
Changes done:
- the Bag now has about 2X of thickness which can be used by a 2 step chain
- The sidepockets are 10 inches in depth and have been made as a pouch so that you can use them to the fullest (like storing tool kit etc) when the bag is in the Shrink mode as well as the full mode.
- The Bag has a small pouch that can hold an iPod or a Phone or GPS or a small map etc AND can be detached and used as a small magnetic tank bag :P
- The D clips have been changed to tougher metallic ones, so that you can tie stuff or use bungee net etc over it!
- The Bag has now been fortified with some fiber padding, which can also double up as a nice back rest...!
- The rain cover now goes under the bag and has been made with a thread based lock (like your helmet covers etc) to avoid the weary elastic
- The back of the bag now has a nylon net which can be rolled out and used to store bottles, wet clothes etc!
- The reflector piping has been re done so that it adds more visibility from behind.

Just an update, a friend 'might' help us with his old trust garmin Legend C with some nice shiny preloaded maps of the route that we intend to take!

1) lol, Trade secret... Infact he told his folks that he is going there to finished the unfinished business and pay the alimony to his wife and kids there!
2) Cancel the booking and wait for a month! That still means you can come to Leh on your SBK!

Looks like we will have two groups of riders from Mumbai, one leaving on 28th night(29th morning), the other on 29th Evening or 30th Morning... and then SpyD...!

PS: If you are coming, please get a hydrpack with redbull in it, dont want you to sleep on the road :P
