I think this can be done in 10 days comfortably but I would strongly suggest you to make it a 16 day tripOriginally posted by ultimodgr8 View PostA ride plan like this:
New Delhi-Chandigarh-Mandi-Tandi-Pang-Karoo-Tangtse-Karoo-Leh-Khardug La-Leh-Khalsi-Kargil-Srinagar-Jammu-Amritsar-Ludhiana-New Delhi
How long should it take on a bike??
New Delhi - Amristsar - Jammu - Srinagar - Kargil - Leh(5 days)
Leh - 2 days
Leh - Pangong Tso - Leh (2 days)
Leh - Khadungla - Dixit - Hundar - Panamik - Khadungla Leh (3 days)
New Delhi to Manali to Leh (3-5 days)
I feel this is the minimum you should do.
Also the places above are just the pointers of route and not night halts.
@Ketan: No idea about Spiti yaar but jab DK bhau hai to no need to worryLast edited by tourer_kashif; 04-07-2011, 11:57 PM.

hi sachinOriginally posted by Sachinnair View PostHello Guys,
We are planning to go to Leh, Spiti from May 28th to June 19th.
Here's the link for the plan for 2011 Leh - Spiti road trip.
2011 Leh - Spiti plan
Confirmed
1) Sachin Nair - sachinnair - ZMR
2) Deepan Devraj - Xstunter - Karizma R
3) Puneet Yashod - N4Speed - Karizma R
Guys please have a look at the Leh - Spiti plan sheet and looking forward to receive valuable feedback and important pointers that we need to keep in my mind.
Apart from Leh is there any other place where we need permit and pass that needs to be arranged.
Looking forward to here from you all
your plan is good, m not sure by this route u choose but as i know all pass of spiti are open in 2nd week of june, but not sure for this year because of recent snow fall on uper hills of manali and lahual so keep touch with weather reports. and regarding permit you need another one when u enters in himachal from j&k boundary.

Yes we need to check in detail for permits. Regarding passes especially Baralach La and for Zozilla lets see what happens.Originally posted by hillsrider View Posthi sachin

@darkKnight
I've got the April issue of the mag and i've read it and if you've also read it you'd know that Sun-stroke is mentioned as a possibility during the trip.
indeed its mentioned that thetemperatures in plains reach upto 45 degC. (pg. no.49)
I just want to avoid monsoons so thats why i am asking if i'd be better to start in May or not?Men who still dream of being a pilot or an astronaut are yet to ride a motorcycle.

Dude by plains it means the area at sea level and not a flat groundOriginally posted by dushyant123 View Post@darkKnight

. When you reach at high altitudes as Leh - Ladakh, the temperature is way too cold even in May. You get sunstrokes at such high altitudes that is because of the UV radiation at such high altitudes.
And by the way DK hasnt read it but wrote it
.
Also guyz one of our team member requires a saddle bag. Any one from Mumbai or Pune clan not touring during 26th May to 19 June please lend us our saddle bag. 2 of us have got the saddle bags and the third guy might not be needing these post the Leh trip and hence not much of a point in buying one.

Deepan
