Nago i dont think Vikram was incorrect with his reply ....
I have been closely following this thread from the time it was started ...
And the most aggressive reply comes from IceMang ...
      Thats not done .

Anyway i dont find him or his trip plan any way great ( both because of his attitude and the plan itself). Best of luck to those who are going with him.

To icemang ... seriously dude grow up.

      And Vikram, nice reply.

On fora like this, its a given that you read more than you type. Anyone who would have skimmed through this thread will know the amount of preparation that has gone into this ride. We have had many riders who have read through the thread and then express interest in joining the group, and such riders have been intimated about the rendezvous time and place.
So, its not completely wrong on icemang's part to show the indignation that comes through in his reply.
Im going with Icemang for the trip, and I dont need a sarcastic "best of luck" to know that I'm going to have a great trip.
While its a given that icemang could have been less curt in his reply, as nagoo said, it might have just been a case of being in a bad mood!

        anyway, chill out folks!
The more you know, the more you know how less you know.
The less you know, the more you think you really know!

What i would like to know is if you can provide any info on Siachen ?
Not many people go on that glacier but the limited info available on net from the people who have been to siachen is encouraging enough to visit those brave souls posted there at the glacier & pay our tribute..

AFAIK, the permission to visit Siachen wouldn't be granted to a normal civilian & hence most people avoid the journey. I would just like to know if i am mis-informed on this part ?
If permissions aren't an issue, i would definitely make it a point to have Siachen on our itinerary..
Try the following link, at the end they say Indian army selected 20 civilians to visit Siachen
Siachen Glacier in Kashmir, Siachen Glacier Tours in Himalayas, Glacier Trekking in India

hope it helps or u can cl subhyatra to see if you can get any info

+1. The tone is totally uncalled for. And if the man is frustrated, ask him not to take it out on Vikram or the forum. Ladakh tests a lot of relationships and patience.

i read in many places that siachen base is only accessible by helicopter
                      Dear Nagoo,

In our group, it is only I who would be allowed to Siachen Base Camp as I am still a serving officer.

The base camp is accessible by road from across Khardung La, it is only the higher areas which need helicopters.

                              Dear Nagoo,

Thanks for your wishes. I do hope that I am allowed to take snaps of the place else I will have to do with the ones I had clicked in 1996. They are old and a bit faded now but still capture the essence of the place.

                                Dear Vikram,
I am surprised that you have elected to post the contents of my private message on the public thread. This means that you have no respect for the unwritten laws of such modes of communication - public is public and private is private and never the twain shall meet. It also means that you have a viciously vengeful attitude. These two traits – the former a minor, behaviour - related one and the latter a more serious personality - related one make you unfit to be on this or any other online forum.

By taking this juvenile step, you have given me tacit permission to treat you like a juvenile delinquent - rebuke you, pull you down a peg or two and reset your attitude by administering the Internet equivalent of a kick in the backside – all in full public view.

You are a lazy, presumptuous, arrogant, ignorant and lobotomised cretin. If you had applied your mind, (which you so obviously don’t use), you would have read the thread right from the start (which obviously you have not as it must have been a Herculean effort for your tender health) and understood (which a person of your cerebral vacuity would have taken some time to but would ultimately have) that most visitors have posted EDUCATED, INFORMED questions in line with the norms of the thread which I am quoting verbatim thus:
A gentle note for all readers of this thread. A successful return journey to Leh is the outcome of detailed planning, elaborate preparation and sensible execution. It should start much before members post to this thread - the content of the replies of members to the thread would reveal the extent to which they have applied themselves to this project. Please do not litter the thread with absolutely novice questions - this is not the place for them; they would, if members take the trouble to research, be answered in plenty by other informative ones like the ones I have mentioned in an earlier post and/or by Googling for answers. Please help me to keep this thread adult. I would also request all posters to adhere to forum rules - absolutely NO SMS language . I shall ignore any query so made and refer the poster to admin for necessary action. If anyone does not like the thread, kindly moderate your language and its tenor.

Ladies and gentlemen, let us be so...
You have absolutely no manners of any kind; a fact that I could glean from the very first PM you had sent me. That PM set the tone for my later responses. There is a way to introduce oneself to a complete stranger – “FYI, I tried to call you yesterday at 9 PM” followed by your number is NOT the way to do it. I have got a large number of emails and PMs about the Leh 2012 Planner on this and other fora and your obnoxiously arrogant PM really took the cake for its complete disdain for established codes of conduct in written communication. If you have an “up yours” take on Life, you risk getting your finger cut off some day.

And I really don’t care a hoot in Hell about people like you who say

“I was calling on the number mentioned on the sheet!! anyways:
I have been planning to go to ladhak past 4 years! I am in THane, would like to join your group alongwith people from Thane. Kindly guide for the same”

without lifting a finger to do some primary research. People like you who write without thinking first and hit the enter button without checking to see if their post is the way it should be. Casual, callous, careless people like you who are blind to the attitude they project in their written communication and who later, become liabilities for the entire group due to their sheer overwhelming hubris.

Despite seeing all these not so admirable deficiencies in you, I pointed you in the right direction by alluding to the three links at my signature block. If you had but read those links, you would have aligned yourself to the required tone of this thread – intelligent, thought-provoking questions which interest readers and elicit reasoned, researched responses so that the knowledge base grows horizontally as well as vertically.

There are readers of this thread who have contributed immensely to its content by posting good tips, links and assorted information. There are readers who have, through hard-found links, made information available about off-roading, viable routes, expenses, time schedules, weather vagaries et al. There even are readers who have acknowledged the inappropriateness (as per their interpretation; for me it was a most correct query – about cycles as a means of touring) of their questions yet have asked them and got favourable responses from members. You obviously wish to discourage such readers as well as members of the present team from associating with me on this journey by projecting me in a bad light. I wish you all the best of luck. If you are successful, your followers are like you – highly avoidable. If you are unsuccessful, they are like me – highly welcome. Either which way, I gain – I make friends with like-minded people and unwanted trash stays away from me.

As it seems that I am dealing with a younger and less worldly-wise member of the forum and who to me, takes the form of a brother biker, and after my ruthless dressing-down, it is my duty to advise you of the errors of your ways. Vikram, just like old pilots and bold pilots but no old AND bold pilots (alive), there are two kinds of people in this world – the good and the successful. There is no living person who can combine these attributes together. That category has a population of one – the Almighty. His ways may be strange, unfair, unreasonable, and even crazy but He is always right. I foresee that, if you persist in espousing your present attitude, you will be neither good nor successful. It is for you to stop, introspect, analyse, deduce, plan and implement your way of looking at Life.

Again, do read the links and inform me via fone or this forum about your Leh plans. The cumulative knowledge of my team may make your preparation easier.

                                God speed and take care.

                                Warmest Regards,

                                Maneesh
