i don;t want to comment on the issue .. but i was really surprised by the words u have framed in your post.. i read the whole reply multiple times and no where i found the tone which is insulting/threatening/angry.. excellent post by the words and its shows the maturity of the person and the topic handled ..truly army style

i have also seen when ever u have addressed person you have used "dear" thanks for that.

and regarding this whole issue, i already conveyed to Vikram the same and leave the whole incident behind. and thankfully all the members are wise enough to forgot this one.

Beautiful ! A great read to end the day with and what a just rebuke to the person concerned. It was good to get the complete picture.
Over the last year or so, i and many others i know, have felt that the cacophony of keyboard warriors and reckless people have made this beautiful forum a huge mess where sense and sensibility is lost to innumerable "lols" and "rossi" wannabes. Infact, for a query on the CBR i surprisingly preferred to contact a fellow member (common to both xbhp and tbhp) on the other forum so that i could get relevant information without members bickering over "CBR /ninja/ktm blah blah". Alas, as has been the case, soon this discourse will be lost to noise, the lols and the +1s, all with a generous dose of smilies. Wish people would ride more, read more and most importantly respect more and post less.

Edit: I have seen snaps of Siachen when my father, a young captain at the time, tried photography with his square pics generating camera . This was before 1985 and the whole ruckus.

I had planned a trip to an old friend - Leh and Siachen Glacier - but it was aborted due to a host of conflicting requirements. I have settled these hassles and now will go to Leh in June 2012.

This thread will serve as the meeting ground for people who wish to join me on the road much traveled. I will go alone if I do not get any company and there is a very good reason for me to do this: I lost an excellent officer and brave men on the snowy heights of Siachen in 1997. I vowed to return one day to pay homage to their memories at the Siachen Memorial at Base Camp. The time has come now to fulfill my vows.

The civilians with me can go to Leh but may not be permitted to turn right from Khalsar/Satti to take the road to Siachen Base Camp. Sorry for that...

Guys please respect the spirit of Vikram ..... He may have miss-spelled the word Ladakh ... but pulling this so much and criticizing him so much is just really very sad.

Any way i just want to say one more thing to every one here : no one is perfect in this world. Try not to criticize , rather help the other person out.

Not only Vikram, but me and others also did find Icemang's reply too harsh. I know he is a very matured person and does not need or may be least bothered about my suggestions, but he could have opted for some other words also .

Its not the rules that matters GUYS but the SPIRIT .... Its the Spirit that keep us going .

Manish Bro I have a question for you, In your trip plan on 20 june you will be staying at nyoma What sort of accomodation is there are you aware of some thing for civilians because I also have same route in my trip .We will be heading to tso moriri after that but not sure about accomodation at nyoma.

i have planned a bike trip to manali - leh - kargil - srinagar June 2012.
i need your advice
On 8th June from mumbai we will take paschim express to kalka & from there we will start riding
i am borrowing my friends bike (Karizma)
will i face any problems during the trip, loading the bike in train or getting army permits etc.. as the bike wont be registered on my name.
i will carry original Registration certificate Smart Card; Insurance Policy & P.U.C. with me

You can either send bike as a parcel or as accompanied luggage. Sending it as parcel will be cheaper, but delivery on time is doubtful. They give preference to luggage, which is costlier. For sending bike is parcel, it is not necessary that the vehicle is in your name.

You can send it as luggage, if the vehicle is in your name. Otherwise railway parcel-babu will create 'problems', which can be solved by distribution of Reserve Bank of India document with picture of Gandhiji. Also a photo-id of the owner of the bike is required.

Remove the fuel pipe going to carb and keep it separately. The loaders in railway stations are known to pilfer petrol from bikes, easy way for them to remove the tube, is cutting them with a knife.

I'm a rookie in driving, initially i had planned to take travel car from delhi / chandigarh for the ladakh tour bt recently i ve bought KTM and is jst in amateur stage of driving, now i m thinking to drive my bike to ladakh, will it be wise to take my bike or should i stick to my initial plan?

Due to family pressure i'll not be able to take kargil route, can you pls let me knw wen does Manali - Leh Highway opens for traffic?
