      Thanks Icemang for the input.
About Panogong Tso, i have also heard that there are some home stays in Merak, that costs a lot less with food.

I also have one more question.
Does the the Petrol pump at Hunder keep petrol with them ??

So, a) Dump your friend and join me and whoever is with me or b) go in July with any team you can form then. There are lots of people going in July.

now will the snow will be there till that time ?

There will be snow in the higher reaches

and also anyone intrested in that time frame.

You will have to lurk around the other Leh planning threads to find out, old chap.

I don't know where you have stayed in tents in the past. In Ladakh, even June, July and August see subzero temperatures at night (-6 to 8 or so.) Plus the issue of water for ablutions, food etc are real issues. It is your choice. I have spent two years there and I am definitely not going to even think of staying in one if other more comfortable options are available.

Spangmik, Man, Merak, Khaltse - all have accommodation in limited quantities.

About the Hundar fuel pump, I really don't know but intend to find out as a confirmed yes or no pretty soon.

I can get Fuel pump at Leh only in between.
Is there any other option to get fuel there in between.
We are going with our Bullets.
There is one petrol pump at Hundar, but does that pump keep Petrol also
Because other wise we will be doing a lot of trekking rather than bikeing
On Day 2, from Sakti, you can come to Karu and tank up. We have filled there a couple of times. Else, you will have to come to Leh, from Sakti, and then ride ahead.

Till last year, I didn't see any operations fuel pump at Upshi. There is one a Karu though.

Sorry, did not understand that. Could you re-write that in plain English, please?

                    • Email to all members of the G Docs

                      Hello friends,

On 18 Feb, I had sent an email to all those who had listed their addresses on the G Docs.

                      These were the contents:
                      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This email is for the Leh 2012 planners from xbhp. If it has reached you erroneously, my apologies. Kindly ignore it and PLEASE don't spam the addresses. Answer ONLY and ONLY if you are not a member of xbhp and yet are interested in riding in Ladakh on a bike in June 2012.
                      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                      Hi guys,

I thought it was time we started contacting each other about our plans for Leh in June 2012. Some news:

                      1. I have updated the Members List on G Docs to include a bike column. This will help us to share essential tools and keep the weight down for individual riders.

                      2. There is also an age column. This will help create a better embodiment of the individual for everybody as also allow members to gauge the general mood of the team. Please update. Don't worry, your girlfriend won't be told and your wives couldn't care less

                      3. Rail bookings will be enabled 120 days before the date of journey wef 01 March. Do kindly book your tickets well in advance as per your individual plans; it would be the height of the holiday season.

                      4. Those of us who are new to enduro riding need some practice in the saddle. Please do some test rides over 400 odd kms, preferably in hilly terrain with some slushy roads/no roads!

                      5. Some of us might not have the requisite gear for the ride. Do get it asap so that it is comfy by the time June dawns.

                      6. Some of us may be out of shape for the journey and the altitude. I am suggesting a small fitness routine here. Even if you cannot make it to Leh, it will at least make you fitter
                      Brisk walk - 3 kms
                      Light jog - 1 km
                      2/3 100m sprints
                      20 push-ups
                      BP and BMI check.

                      Do write back.

I have not received a single coherent reply till date other than from Kaushik, Nagoo and harikeshpk. Two guys who are not members of the forum not only got my cell number from somewhere but also called up and emailed me.

Guys, have the decency to at least reply with whatever it is that you have to say. I am trying to wield a team so that we can all have fun together. If the interest of the other members does not extend beyond adding their names in the list and looking up the forum, I will have to cease my efforts too. As I had emphasized earlier, I will ride solo without a hassle; just that, having company is more fun. Now I am wondering as to whether this is the kind of company I am looking for. Sorry for the harsh words but a mere email reply was definitely expected.

                      Regards

                            • Finally..

I spent the last 3 hours reading through the entire thread (in office)

This has been a dream for quite a while and I'd like to ride with you. The exhaustive discussion on most aspects of the trip is great and most informative. I see that the plan has practically been 'hatched'. I'll add my name to the list in the Google Doc. I'll also book my tickets tomorrow. Hopefully there won't be any ugly surprises along the way (I mean, before the ride starts, or after, for that matter).

See you all. (With butterflies in stomach).. Can't wait.

EDIT: I read through the entire thread and I realized, why don't you put up the tour schedule in the first post, so its easy to catch instead of it being somewhere in the middle which I now can't seem to find for some reason. You could edit it whenever you want and every time you edit it, everyone following the thread will know immediately.

                                Hello efe!

                                Welcome to the team.

High altitude areas are the mother of surprises, both nasty and nice. We need to take both in our stride.

You have a very good point there about the schedule being on the first post, I am doing that immediately.

Meeting place: Jammu Railway Station, MCO office
                                Date: 11 Jun 2012
                                Time: 1200 hours.
