Am from Coimbatore , Need some quick way to port my bike(Three bikes actually) from coimbatore to chandigarh .. we are planning to start the trip at Chandigarh. (trip route : chandigarh->Manali->leh->srinagar->jammu )
People at Rail station say it'll take like 3 days to a month . depending on the availablity of space in the train crossing junction.
How did u guys actually transport your bikes (i know all did y train parcel service only... But this uncertainity in timing is not acceptable , i guess)? Any body did this before , Pls help me out with some pointers.

Hello Sanjay...I have plans to ride from Hyderabad around the same date....but a bit different route and less days on ride....
anyone else with you on this ride from Hyderabad?

no, just me...i would be starting on Aug8th (also, there is a little chang, check the immage for summary). also the link (like has the detailed route) is updated with the changes.

june 2013 planning for leh ladakh tour

hey friends i am Gurtej from Punjab. I am planning to go to leh ladakh in mid june 2013, with my cousin. he has Bullet 350 classic and
i have Honda CBR 250R. last year we went to rohtang Pass and now this year we are planning to go to leh via jammu kashmir.
anybody willing to go with us on their own bike, please let me know, my mail ID is ([email protected]). i have read the whole article of Xbhp about leh tour, its very help full, please read it before planning to go.

Sanjay - You seem to be very near Srinagar on 14th and 15th August. I would advise you to stay away from Kashmir during this time. Political protests are bound to happen (this year specially after the Afzal hanging) and things can go out of control quickly.

there are some trains directly going to Delhi try them,ratheer than looking for a train upto Chandigarh

1.2643 NIZAMUDDIN EXP
2.2645 NIZAMUDDIN EXP
3.2625 KERALA EXPRESS
4.6317 HIMSAGAR EXP
5.6687 NAVYUG EXP
6.2647 KONGU EXPRESS

in any train you book the bikes and you people can board the same train(preferred) or fly down to Delhi.

Bus services between Delhi to Leh has been resumed. For all those who might want to send off luggage by bus along with a friend, who is unable to ride or something.

Also for people interested in cycling, it is easier cycling from Leh to Manali, rather than cycling from Manali to Leh. Load your cycle onto the bus and ride back from Leh!
