Hey Leh Biking Enthusiasts,
We are from Mumbai and planning a ride to Leh. Options open for riding from Jammu or Delhi. Our date to start the ride from Jammu or Delhi would be by the 12th July. Our itinerary is the below... If we plan to to ride from Delhi then we would simply reverse our itinerary.
Looking forward for riders to join us. Our leaves are more or less approved for the below dates so changing the dates may be difficult.

I ride apache rtr 160, 34k kms on the odo..
I'll be riding to Leh this year and wanted some help from guys who have got leh'd on the apache..
Any problems faced due to high altitude?
How was the overall performance?
Any suggestions/ warnings/ information will be appreciated..

well its hardly a month left for getting leh'd as first bunch of enthusiasts would start there ride by mid May.
Seems that 3rd week of June gonna be a real RUSH to LEH.
hope we dont get a traffic jam uphill due to only bikes :P :P :PComment

I have been reading the Leh threads on and off. Here is some help from me:
1. Read the Leh 2012 Planner thread, loads of info there.
2. Read trustvishwas's log, it is superb.
3. Check out the Excel sheet I had prep for MY trip in Jun 2012 here:
4. Check out my travelogue. Warning - it is in great details about EXPERIENCES, not figures and numbers...
5. Ramky's maps are here (I wish I could find this guy and gift him a bottle of Scotch)
After you have read the above, I don't think you need go anywhere. Any doubts/questions/tirades, PM or email me

I am now just looking for some personal experiences from any riders who got leh'd on the apache 160, just in case i need to consider any more specific problems..
I'll be sure to ask you for further doubts.. Thank you..

We had a rider (id : RazorBlades aka Gopi) on an Apache 160 back in 2009. He didnt faced any problem apart from a mere puncture.Originally posted by pranav.k View Post

Atleast in the near future, getting permits for far off areas like Hanle will be difficult it seems. Even last year there was a problem as some people had inadvertently strayed beyond the LAC. Hence, no permits for Hanle were issued for sometime.Originally posted by manas34 View PostComment
