Yes why not. The old fashioned yet reliable way. Use bungee cords!

Folks, went out saddle bag hunting yesterday.. my search was for one that is pillion friendly and compatible with upswept exhaust (CBR250R)

Tried the following but nothing seems satisfactory to me (note again: pillion comfort is my top priority)

      1. Rynox Nomad 2.1 - Good capacity (upwards of 60 L total), which eventually becomes a bane. It hits the pillion's lower legs and foot even when the saddlebag is reversed and without water bottles, really like the zippers though which are lockable.
      2. Viaterra Leh - no adjustable link bridge, felt like the top inner corners of the bag were protruding when sitting on top of it.

      3. Viaterra Rapide - Not even big enough space for luggage of two people for a weekend (20 L * 2 = 40 L), Saggy when loaded, no provision to hold it vertically after mounting,

Bags which I plan to check out -

      NH4 highway 200
Dirtsack Longranger pro (48L) or speedbag pro (40L)

I don't know if the last two options will be any better so need your suggestions. I've even considered a tail luggage rack + tail bag or a pillion backpack but can't seem to find a rack for the CBR in India. (Thailand store: https://bikerzbits.co.th/honda-cbr25...011-model.html)

      Cheers.

Rynox Stacker saddlebags are also an option. For 2750, they are a decent option to look out for.
I dont know how big they are though..

Got Rynox Nomad 2.1 and paid by cash. The shop (6k miles to IoM) was kind enough to let me try and and return if it doesn't suit my pillion rider.

Some thoughts - it is possible to mount it "as recommended" with the bottle holder side facing front and still accommodate pillion's foot on the read pegs. Well, almost.. if you don't have bottles in the holder. Haven't tried reversing it..

Pushing the saddle bag really back might solve the problem, but have to take care of the rear indicators. I'm hoping to keep the Nomad and give it a (1000km) shot. Worst case, I would be breaking the indicator rubber, in which case I would get an excuse to completely remove the stock indicators and install LED tail with integrated blinkers.. haha!

To answer your question, I am a bit off my rocker. [emoji41] [emoji41]
If nobody keeps laptops in saddle bags, then why do some of them come with dedicated laptop pockets?
And what's the best way to travel with a laptop on a bike?

Planning for a long one coming long weekend with wife.. was searching for suitable luggage addons and settled for the Rynox Nomad 2.1.. mind you this bag is so huge that it literally sat on top of the pillion footpegs, so had almost rejected it initially.

I wanted to share my experiences with some pros and cons of this bag so that prospective buyers who will have pillions accompanying can decide..

                    Pros:
                    1. The bags are big. Big enough to have some cons because of the size! But the positive point here is that you'll need the space since you'll be packing stuff for two people for a good long trip.
                    2. Sturdy material, rigid sides which means the bag retains shape even when not fully packed.
                    3. The bag are connected to each other by velcro straps. This is called bridge link by some manufacturers. Advantage of having an adjustable bridge length is that the pillion can comfortably sit on the rear seat with the bags not hindering.
                    4. Velcro straps can go under the seat for added pillion comfort.
                    5. Might not be by design, but the bag can be mounted in reverse (intended front of the saddle bag (bottle side) facing the back). This improves legspace/ footspace for the pillion.

                    Cons:
                    1. Big bags mean pillion discomfort if not mounted properly. On the CBR250R, if the bag is mounted more towards the tail side, it gives some room for pillion's footrest but the back of the bag hits the rear indicators.

My solution: mounted the bag in reverse AND removed the rear indicators (just temporary till I figure out an alternate rear indicator mount method or completely replacing the indicators with smaller ones).

Looking for a saddle bag for Duke 200. Any suggestions except the Viaterra velox and Dirstsack speedbags.

                          1. Easy on the wallet since its going to be used only once (Nomad out)
                          2. Should have enough space to carry stuffs 20 days (Velox out)
                          3. Should battle the elements in Ladakh expedition (Dirtsack skeptical)

                            Hello Buddy,

I have been using the Nomad Saddles bags on my CBR250R since a long time and have done few trips with pillion too even i had the same problem with the pillion footrest being blocked if water bottles are kept. Go for the Nomad if u have got no other option. And i would say that instead of looking for other alternative for indicator setup, I would suggest u to get a hydration pack which will solve the problem ( just a suggestion). In my case i was carrying water bottles inside the bag which left room for the pillion foot rest.

I am not sure for a ladak ride you can go just with a saddle bag. You may require a tailbag and a saddle bag ( depending on your needs ). Or are you planning with just a saddle bag.

I am very light traveler. Planning with Just a saddle bag + Tank Bag and going to use a small duffel bag tied at the tail to carry extra fuel.
