Locking mechanisms for saddle bags...?

I know that the saddle bags available in India don't have any locking mechanisms to secure the bags to the motorcycle...when the rider is on walk about, admiring scenery or taking a pee break. Have any of us tried and perfected a technique to securely lock the bags (and the contents) securely with the bike? I am not talking about overnight safety, but something that keeps off sticky hands. I have a cramster tank bag and hoping to invest in a good set of saddle bags...thought that something with a bit more safety will help.

I can merely think about covering the bags with a dirty tarp and keep the bags hidden away from plain sight. Probably some dirty laundry on top ...to keep the determined ones away....

I ride a Honda CBR250R

Hello guys
Anybody using hard case luggage box like studds SPORTSTER SIDE BOX on a pulsar 200 or 220. I'm planning for a saddle bag but Viaterra and Cramster lacks a security as mentioned. How convenient is these boxes. I like to have in both sides. Is it possible to remove it in daily use. I Ride alone always and security is premium concern.

Sir, what kind of security are you expecting? And for which motorcycle do you own?

I own a pulsar 200. Security like I can park the bike n go for a walk or something like this. I mentioned the below products

As mentioned in this thread, they dont seem to make for both sided. Also I dont want that box hanging all the time. May be removable easly for daily commuting. And yeah seems like I'm asking for too much but its every bikers concern.

Which bike is that ? Kind if permanent fix. It's kind if cool.

You probably might've overlooked; the ones above can be mounted & unmounted easily on both the sides, no need for tools; they've locking mechanism. The one you posted (Studds) can also be mounted & unmounted easily, provided you've toolkit & has lesser luggage capacity

Dude...you'll spend money of half the price of your P200 to buy them!!!

You only need to think straight!! Buy a Crapster, Viaterra Claw or Rynox which are very easy to mount & unmount; if you're so concerned on security, remove them from your bike or very simple use a small lock on both the zippers.

Remember, if a thief is determined, he can break any secured object be it bag or bank!! As owners, we can only delay the theft.

Im not yet decided on purchase. But had it as an option too. Just wanted to check anybody using and +s -ves. Even I too thought of small locks. And u're right if a thief is determined then nothing can save our luggage.

Looking for a tank bag which can accommodate :

1) Dslr with an extra lens and charger
2) 2-3 Tshirts
3) 1 Denim
4) Pair of chappals
5) Boxers & undergarments
6) A Towel
7) HDD
8) Sunglasses
9) Basic Toiletries

I am using rynox optimus-s, its good quality, tank/tail bag. added benefit is it has suction cups, which hold quite well, even on extremely bad roads. you may need to purchase an additional strap to use it as a tail bag. viaterra fly is smaller than rynox optimus.

Compared to the Rynox, ViaTerra bags are different. ViaTerra bags are "soft luggage" and Rynox come under "semi hard" category.

The FLY is the only tank bag in India that has been specifically designed to carry a DSLR.

The FLY is designed keeping Indian Bike Tank/Handlebar sizes.. it was taken care that the handlebars don't touch the bags even turned lock to lock. ViaTerra manufactures its stuff in India, by Indians. Unlike Rynox which is imported.

If you want to carry a lot of stuff, then the FLY might not be the right one for you.

Hello Payeng,
I don't know where you get your information from or how well versed you are with the procurement procedure of Rynox.
We, sincerely request you stop spreading incorrect/false information about Rynox or any other brand for that matter to our fellow riders. This is very unethical and creates confusion amongst Riders than providing clarity about products and brands.

This brings me back to my point. Apart from the Nomad v2 saddlebags, all the other products(Optimus-M/Optimus-S/Navigator Tankbags) fall under the Soft Luggage Category.
Secondly, Rynox Saddlebags and Tankbags are very much made in India with an In-House manufacturing facility.

Coming back to the manufacturing process, I would like to inform you and fellow riders that we have a Global Procurement process for Raw Materials (which includes India as well) to make sure that an Indian Brand- Rynox is at par with other International Brands with respect to quality at an affordable price. The Global Procurement Process is further justified, since not all that we need according to our standards is available in India.

Regards,

hi riders,
i'm in market to invest in pair of saddle bag for my pulsar 220, two name that i came across on google are rynox nomad v2 (bigger. looks better fit of the two, Rs4.5k) and dirtsack speedbag(~3k, smaller, less on features i.e. no rain cover/extra straps etc). if someone can guide me through there personal experience or observation as which one is better in terms perfect fit, stability during high speed and durability or some other product that fits the bill.

thanks and cheers, Palash.
p.s- budget is not a prime concern here, but dont want to go overboard either.

Really? Didn't know about that. I know for sure that Cramster, Dirtsack and ViaTerra are made in India.

By the way where is the manufacturing unit of Rynox located (Address)? Wouldn't mind paying a visit. Would be really interesting to see the manufacturing practices as I kind of have handled the ViaTerra stuff.

Chill guys... Dont know what actually is the technical meaning of "soft" and "semi hard" luggage... But i have a cramster tank bag which i call "soft" coz it does not retain its shape when empty, and i also have a rynox optimus-s which i will call "semi hard" coz althouh its not as hard as a suitcase but still retains its shape coz of lot of padding material used in sidewalls etc...both does the well.
shamin : since you are from rynox, i have a suggestion .... Can you plz provide one more strap with optimus as standard, sometimes a third strap is needed to securely use it as a tail bag.
