@payeng, please note that I said 'It Seems', 'I think' when I mentioned about Viaterra Fly's quality. Please let me know what do you think about Viaterra Fly's quality. Does it have extra padding all around for cushioning effect? Please let me know your experience with it.

I guess semi hard would be better for a DSLR than the soft luggage. Please share your thoughts.

I am the "co-creator" of the ViaTerra Fly. Therefore it's difficult for me to find fault with it

Anyway, we have taken all possible care to make the Fly a good DSLR Tankbag. The padding is ample and all round. Plus the elastic straps and zipped pouches does make it a really good DSLR / Camera Tankbag.

Hard/Semi hard luggage has its own advantages and disadvantages. Same goes for soft luggage.

Be assured you are covered with the ViaTerra Fly

splus - Thanks a ton for those photos, really appreciate it.

Those images makes sure that the Rynox Nomads definitely cannot be used with a pillion on the Duke.

Do you have any issues mounting the Optimus S, specially the front two suction cups? Is it even usable?

Why I like this because...
1. easily removable so that I can remove them during my regular ride to office or even when touring when I don't need them.
2. has large storage space & doesn't really need to be balanced
3. Nothing to lock up & leave it; I can carry my own personal stuff
Hi how much does this cost can you please tell and is it available on line?

The rear suction cups hold really well, no problem. However, the detachable suction base isn't made of very strong material (quite unlike the rest of the bag) and I've already managed to rip it little bit because I pulled the suction cup too strong.

The front suction cups aren't really useful for Duke because of the shape of Duke's tank. But, you're provided with two straps with adjustable length, so you can fix the front part of the bag to each side of crash guard. Or, as in photos, use just one strap to fix the bag to the frame that's connected to cone.
Either way is very easy and works well. So, it's not a problem at all. And probably even safer...

Sorry, this is pretty much useless because, as opposed to the statement in this video where the guy says it's difficult to attach the suction/magnet base to the bag again, in practice it's extremely easy. Takes 1 second.
How difficult can it be to put one part of a zipper into the other and zip it?? It's not.

That's actually one thing I really like about this bag - taking the suction part completely off and putting it inside the pocket where the backpack straps are - is very easy and it takes half the time as shown in this video.
And then you have a very nice backpack...

If you are used to completely unzipping and zipping of the suction/magnet base, its very much fine. But I found it difficult to put the zipper back with the weight of the magnet base hanging. With repeated use, there might be problem with damaging the zipper. Also, you can't get a proper surface all the time to properly mount the zippers in place, especially when the bag has lot of luggage in it. And, where would you keep the suction/magnet base once you remove it? When there is a space constraint, the magnet/suction base is an additional weight.

And you can't just say its 'useless'. I have been using this method since last one year and it proved very much useful to me.

My apologies for stronger words.

Hm, how do you then attach the base to the bag?
I simply turn the bag upside down so the bottom is upwards, and then place the base right on top of it, hook up the zips and zip it all around.
Then turn the bag upside down again and put it onto the tank.
It works VERY easily for me, that's why I was surprised about this video...

I put the base exactly into the pocket it's designed for. That's what that pocket is for...
Just like in the video, but I put it fully inside, not partially. And it fits perfectly.

right now there is no alternative in indian market except rynox optimus-s.

Points noted... but probably ViaTerra won't launch tankbags with Suction option. Especially for a DSLR/Camera based tankbag, no other option (magnetic or suction cups) is as secure as Straps. Therefore for a DSLR Tankbag, I don't think we'll provide anything apart from with Straps.

Reason being, suction cups are not that reliable especially in the longer run. I have got first hand feedback from MG himself who used one.. he too wasn't too happy with the Suction mechanism.

Issues with suction based tankbags: The tank surface has to be clean, the cups sometimes gets attached (even if you don't want) by accident if it comes in contact with the surface.. and also tends to loose effectiveness over time.

Straps with Magnets also tend to leave scratch marks on the tank surface more easily than the other options.

I agree about the suction cups, well, at least partially - even if I could use the front cups on my Duke I really doubt they would have enough suction to keep the loaded bag in place, especially in high speed or when going over potholes.
The rear ones however, seem to hold perfectly. But then, they bear much less pressure than the front ones.

From my positive experience with magnetic Cramster tank bag I'd say a magnetic bag can be made in such a way where the magnets would hold the bag efficiently.
But then, more and more premium bikes come with plastic tanks...

We need some genius to invent a new method instead of suction cups!

well, i can not comment on the reliability of suction mechanism as i have never owned or used one. just ordered a rynox few days ago and keeping the fingers crossed.

regarding magnetic bags, i use cramster one and magnets hold very well, no problem at all, though they tend to scratch the tank if we are not careful, but there is a workaround by using some soft cloth.

my suggestion was not regarding DSLR tank bag.

i want you (since you can) to design a tank bag with around 25 litres capacity and retaining the shape of viaterra fly i.e. make it a bit bigger and give an expandable zipper. provide a transparent map pocket on it. provide removable interchangeable base pads - either suction or magnetic along with tie down option with straps. and thus we will have a universal tank bag which will fit any bike and on tank or rear seat or can be used as a backpack..so it will be wonderful to have such a product. VFM product universal appeal.
