Re: [UT]: Biking backpacks and Luggage Accessories.
Another query about RYNOX...
Does anyone have RYNOX Nomad v2 saddle bags and Optimus-S tank bag on their Duke? Or at least have seen them on a Duke?
Do the bags fit well? Are they appropriate for a ride with pillion?
I have old Cramster saddle bags and tank bag, and while they are OK, the saddle bags are not easy to fit and are too long for comfortable ride with a pillion (front bottom part touching the pillion foot rests), and tank bag needs to be strapped with bungee cords.
RYNOX is little expensive comparing to other bags, 4550 Rs for Nomad v2 saddle bags and 2999 Rs for non-magnetic Optimus-S tank bag, but they offer large storage and supposedly are of very good quality.
It's just that I don't know if they fit Duke well...

Re: [UT]: Biking backpacks and Luggage Accessories.
Buddy, could you please post some detailed pics of the bag? I've been lookin out for a tankbag too. Also would be grateful if you could snap their other stuff too.Originally posted by atuladeupes View PostHave any body tried shark attack tank bag, I am getting it for 2300 Rs from DSG, lots of magnets looks quite good...

Their website has been in the pipeline for ages now and they're dead on the Fb page. Wanted to check their stuff in Bombay but dunno who stocks it here. Let me know if you can get info on their dealers here. Thanks in advance!

He did Leh with it and the only thing is it needs to be weighed down so that the suction can effectively work on the bike tank. Hence you'll have to always stuff it with something…
@splus- the tankbag should be fine on the Duke as most new gear is designed to work with all modern bikes. Check the Rynox Fb page and website…guess they have pics. Am not very sure about the saddle bags though.

Re: [UT]: Biking backpacks and Luggage Accessories.
Thanks. I already saw these on their FB page, but you can't see much from that rear view. I need a side view to see if they obstruct the pillion foot pegs or not.
I sent an email to Rynox a week ago asking about it, but they replied they paid a lot of attention when designing the bags and that they will try to make some photos on a Duke and send it to me. But they didn't send anything so far.
I think I'll just have to blindly order them and then will post here a short review...

splus- No, you dont have to blindly order. Where do you live? You can go to a gear store and check the bags by fitting them on someone's D200. All gear shops will let you try that

I'll go to Bangalore in couple of weeks but I thought to travel WITH the bags.
Anyway, I looked at my Duke little more carefully and looked at the photos of Rynox saddle bags, and it looks like there's no way a pillion would be able to put the feet on rear foot rests if the saddle bags are mounted. The distance between pillion foot rests and rear blinkers (which limit how far behind you can push the bags) is simply very short in a Duke.
So I went ahead and ordered only the tank bag and I just got it. I didn't want to risk and spend 4500 Rs for saddle bags that I might not be able to use with a pillion.
I just had time to look at the tank bag little bit, but it looks really good. The materials are very strong, but zippers look relatively weak, I doubt they'll be able to last long and sustain tough times. That's the only minus in this bag. Good side is the zippers are waterproof.
But the bag itself looks like it'll last 100 years, it's even little too sturdy for my taste. All fantastic quality materials with good thick padding all around.
Rynox say the bag has 19 liters capacity and when it's expanded it goes up to quite spacious 29 liters. You can comfortably put an entire helmet in it when it's expanded. Two side pockets and one bottom one, and the transparent map/phone/gps large pocket on the top.
The bottom of the bag with suction cups can be unzipped, put inside a bag, the shoulder straps can be pulled out, and you suddenly have a proper backpack which even looks like a backpack. Really cool. And REALLY practical. Big plus for that.
Transparent top of the bag, transparent bag cover and additional straps are all very welcome and useful.
Overall, it's waaay better than my old Cramster tank bag! It's more expensive, 3k Rs, but it's definitely worth it.

Re: [UT]: Biking backpacks and Luggage Accessories.
splus- thanks a ton for that summary! I have zeroed in on the Rynox Optimus too and will get it soon.
There's simply nothing that comes close to the flexibility it offers- especially for carrying a lid, converting into a backpack. Also, if I get a plastic tanked bike in the future, I just have to swap the rear base with the suction cup one for 200 bucks extra (though a gearstore salesman also said the suction is not very effective)
I recently saw a Nelson Rigg tankbag at PRS and the quality was as good at the Rynox at best. Oh and it cost 8k!
