    Now there are two options which I have:
    * Viaterra Fly GT
    This one is small and has 16lts capacity. Retails at Rs 1700/-

    * Dirtsack Tail-Bag
    This one is bigger, having 35lts capacity. Retails at Rs 2100/-
    Dirtsack | Products | Tailbags | Tailpack - Standard - KTM

    I don't have any problem with having a smallish capacity.

    From these two, which is better i.e. in terms of quality, durability and ruggedness.
    (No prior experience with riding bags.)

    If anybody has Dirtsack tail-bag, it would be highly helpful if you could post some pics of it.
    Quality and ruggedness both comes with Rynox.
    Via terra has good quality but the build is a bit flimsy when direct comparision with the rynox.

    Now how much of a capacity are you looking for ? There is a product from via terra , called seaty or so, a small pouch like stuff, can be expanded to fit most of the small sized items and when it is empty acts as a seat cover too.
    I'm not sure if it is listed in their website, but surely worth a look if storage capacity is in mind.

    P.S: Items like SLR and stuff wont fit and is not recommended to be stored in this particular one.

      Ya, i know about Rynox and had seen one (optimus-M). Was very impressed with the build quality. Its the price that i am not comfortable with.

      Capacity wise, i would be having 5-6 pieces of cloths (including jeans, shirts and t-shirt) and some eatables (that mum would hand over )

      Have to do a total of 180kms every weekend (90kms one way) of straight highway and had done a couple of times with normal backpack and it caused pain in the shoulder (plus upper-back).

      And I don't have a camera, so no worry about that

      Looks like Fly GT is the only option.

      Ride safe and have fun.

        Ok, then this seaty thing is not good for you, it is extremely small.

        Then i'd suggest Via terra , as rynox can tend to be a bit more costly.

          "Flimsy" is not the right word. ViaTerra bags fall under "soft luggage", which has its own advantages over "hard" or "semi hard" luggage. Just check out the leading international luggage makers for "off road", "dual purpose" bikes.

          Benefits of "soft construction": Light weight, easy to pack and transport, objects won't bounce around in the bag (with the bag tightened with the tightening straps) and soft bags can take, adjust and fit regardless of the shape of the surface.

          ViaTerra products are specifically designed as per the dimensions of our Indian Bikes. The FLY Fits perfectly on any tank of an Indian bike and also on the rear seat as a tail bag.

          The tank on our Indian bikes are not that huge as on imported big bikes.. and therefore the size on the ViaTerra Fly. In fact after putting the Fly on the Tank/Rear Seat one can literally forget that there is something attached on the bike..!!

          Also the FLY converts into a Back Pack easily (the straps are all attached to the bag and need not be carried around)..!!

              Payeng mate, sorry for the wrong word, i did not know the exact words, that why i added "in direct comparison" i guess it still seem right. Sorry about that.

              And yes, i have had first hand problems with hard luggage, and i also understand it is a trade-off, so it's fine with me.

              Also Payeng, just while we are discussing luggage, the branding on the via terra seaty thingy, it could do with a bit of a overhaul, why not the via terra logo on it ?

                Nothing to be apologetic about. Just wanted to clarify that the difference is in the ways the bags are designed..

                No idea about it.. I am no longer involved with the brand.

                The "Claw", "Fly" and "Leh" were products that I was directly involved with. The Claw and Fly were my baby.

                    Hehe super speed.
                    Decided to go with Fly GT. Is a good option and isn't all that costly.

                    I will ask my cousin to buy it for me, he's in Mumbai. Hopefully by late this month, i will get the bag.

                        If there is a ViaTerra logo on the Seaty, the pillion sitting on it, might see a mark on his bu** or atleast might get uncomfortable after a while. hence it was avoided. Moreover being small and mostly strapped on the bike at times, it attracts more attention and figgit'y people must just want to remove it.
