thanks and cheers, Palash.
p.s- budget is not a prime concern here, but dont want to go overboard either.
    Hi
I bought Rynox nomad v2 in september. And than rode on my bike from nagpur to mumbai total of 817 kms in 16 hrs with bags strapped on my pulsar 180. The bags are very good the sapce is anple i had put all my stuff in them and i rode in rains dirt at all kind of stuff the bags are nice and quite useful and looks cool. And the rain covers are easy to put on whenever rain starts and are ver helpful too cuz whatever part of bags these rain covers cover is perfectly shielded from rains. Just wish they could also some how protect the tyre facing side of bags too. You should go for Rynox v2.

Use a simple polythene at the bottom of the bag and cover the undersides from tire splashes.
      Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Saddle bag for apache rtr 180.
I am not regular tourer but would love to keep the saddle bag on the bike when commuting so that I can carry rain gear, documents and may be an extra helmet for pillion.I am not considering tank bags as not much space would be left after I put my rain gear.Is cramster colt the only option?
As Rynox saddlebags are way too big for commuting and dirt sack speed bags cannot be opened from top.
I am only considering pillion friendly ones as else I would have gone for claw eyes closed.

Extra helmet in the saddle bag, don't think that is possible try pinging Adarsh_Bk from the few images I have seen, I think he uses the cramster saddlebags on his RTR, guess he could help you out with your query

None of the saddle bags/tank bags available in India can fit a full face helmet in them. Neither rynox ones would. Havent tried fitting a spare helmet on a claw. You want to buy saddle bag justs to keep your bike documents , rain gear and spare helmet ? :surprise: why not buy a cramster/wildcraft back pack with separate compartment to keep the helmet instead. That will fulfill your requirements.

@albyjose : I do use Cramster colt but I dont think the pillion can comfortable place his legs on the rear foot pegs as the bags almost comes over it. Also arent you concerned about the safety? Anyone can unmount the saddlebags and carry it away. One can try to secure it with chain and locks but it will not fend off someone who is determined to steal it.

@phanikar saar : You sure a helmet wont fit in colt? I never tried it till now.. will try today.. I feel it can be somehow shoved in

Got my new Cramster Turtle Tankbag. Yet to test it in rides. Will put up a short review once it is done. By the way the Via Terra Claw that I have been using is fantastic. It has huge amounts of storage and stays in place when properly mounted. If you are planning long distance tours that require a lot of stuff to be carried, the Claw would be a perfect choice.

                  • New Rynox Navigator and Optimus M

Got to check the improved new Rynox Optimus M (~20 normal and ~30L when expanded) and the new Navigator (~16L) tank bags. A few photos. Will review in full later.

The Navigator and Optimus, side by side.

The new Navigator V2, ~16L space now in two compartments. Very compact and sits on 3 huge magnets.

The new Optimus M on Karizma. Sits better on the tank than previous one.

Touches handlebar in full turn only slightly compared to previous one (This problem not there on other bikes like R15, CBR, or Duke)

That is the Navigator inside the Optimus M.

Navigator on Karizma. No need to remove the tank bag for fuel filling.

                    The Optimus as backpack

The CLAW devours a XL Sized Full Face Helmet and still has enough space to take in a other stuff.

Claw is probably the only one that can take in a Leather Racing Suit as well..!!

@phanikar, Rynox Optimus tank bag would take in the full-face helmet when the bag is expanded. But, you will not be able to put any other luggage, except for some small things.

just back from a ride to pichavaram. I was using the cramster turtle.
Its very good. Stayed in place throughout the ride without any play. Didnt hinder controls/handlebars when turning. You can even do a full crouch with the bag. Absolutely worth the money. Im gonna try and see if it can fit in a full face helmet.

EDIT: phanikar The cramster turtle seems to fit in a full face helmet quite comfortably, but you won't be able to put anything else in it. I would rather put spare helmet in the claw than the turtle. The Claw can take a full face helmet and still has a lot more space to hold many other stuff.
