Which is the best tankbag around for non metal tanks(duke 200) ? I am looking for something which is not too huge but can accept a DSLR and some clothes etc.
Where can I find them in Bombay/Calcutta?

      Hey Doga,

The viaterra fly is a good option. They also have a version with compartments for a DSLR and the lens. Plus you can add few clothes as you need.

The rynox non magnetic tank bag is better if you need more space.

You can check the viaterra fly at Moto101 Mumbai at Khar.

Rynox products are available at many places, here are a few at the back of my mind in Bombay. AH helmets, LS2 store, S9 helmets

Thank you Santosh. The Viaterra is good but the Rynox Optimus S looks to be good option as well especially since the capacity is 30 litres?
My only apprehension is that the suction may not be strong enough when sudden and heavy front brakes are applied. Read somewhere that it does come off in rare cases. Do we have additional straps or something other then the suction caps to secure it to the tank/frame better?
This seems to be out of stock with most online retailers.

Also approximately how much can be squeezed in the Viaterra Fly after a DSLR has already gone in. Can a Jeans/one or two T shirts and some other stuff(Deo etc) can go in as well?

Also what's the view on the Dirtsacs?

There are straps available for optimus tank bag. Also you can remove the base suction cups and replace with magnetic base incase you go for magnetic tank bike in future. The space available is massive. Also the quality is also good. Rynox also provide a transparent rain cover along with the bag. You can remove the base and use it as a back pack as well.

Dirtsack tank bag is also nice. But the space available is really low compared to Optimus S. This also comes with rain cover but not transparent. This also uses straps to hold on to the bike.

Both bags can be used as tail bag as well.
However, if you are plannijg to carry a DSLR, I would say Viatera fly would be the best, as it provide starps inside the bag so the camera would hold on to the bag and wont keep movin inside the bag during the go. I believe it also can be used as back pack ( not 100 % sure ). Also not sure howmuch space is left after keeping the DSLR and lens. Hope this helps.

          Thanks
          Peeths

I used the Rynox Optimus S on a Leh ride earlier this year. While there is ample amount of space I ran into two problems:
            * Suction cups would not hold the bag in place. They keep coming off. What kept the bag in place is the straps (2 on the side and one around the handle)
            * The transparent rain cover became brittle in the hot/cold of Leh and cracked open in several places.

I haven;t used any other tank bag, so can't say whether others are any better.

What about the SIZE of the bag... I get the feel that they might be a bit large for the Tanks of our Indian Motorcycles.

Do the size hamper with the maneuverability of the bike?

The horn gets pressed if you turn the handle all the way to the left. Other than that not much impact on the maneuverability.

                  Hey Doga.

The rynox one would be your best bet if you want more space. One friend had used it on his duke 390 for his ladakh trip. He dint have any problems as such using the straps along with the suction.
Haven't managed to get my hands on either of viaterra and dirtsack. But all of them claim to accommodate a DSLR plus a few clothes.

I am looking for a small <15ltr tank bag for my rc 390. I really liked Viaterra Oxus (not pro) but it doesn't have a non-magnetic mount. Anybody using this tank bag? Does it have provision of strapping it in? Also the same question about Rynox navigator.

I'm looking for saddle bags for my Suzuki Gixxer. I need them to be as large as possible, with space to accommodate a 15.6" laptop and enough luggage for a month.
And they also have to be comfortable for the pillion.

I went to a Rynox store in Pune, but they didn't have the Nomad in stock, and the salesperson told me that it would be some time before they get new supplies.

The Rynox Stacker seemed small to me, though it fit the bike well, and there was no danger of it touching the wheel. But it did touch the pillions foot, and I'm not sure how comfortable that'll be on a long trip.

Will the Nomad fit a laptop?
Are there any alternatives that'll fit my Gixxer?
Does anyone make custom saddle bags, and if so, how much do they cost?

I contacted an ebay seller about Trek n Ride saddle bags, and was told that they'll fit my Gixxer. They hold a total of 68l and seem like a good buy.

                      Are they any good?

I also came across the Triton S1.

Hey, one of my friend owns Rynox navigator tank bag and it does have hooks to the sides which can be used for strapping the tank bag. Hooks or bungees are not provided with the bag so you need to buy them seperately.

I have been using Rynox Optimus M tank bag since past 2 years on my CBR250R and even few of my friends who ride RE borrowed it few times and i have never heard anyone complaining about the SIZE. Am hearing it from you only which feels weird. Optimus M is designed to use as a tank bag and also as tail bag. I have used the Optimus M even on Ninja 650 and also on Honda CB500X i have never faced any issues even at high speeds or which cornering.

Optimus S ( suction cups base ) those suction cups work on suction pressure and at higher altitudes they do not function properly due to less air pressure. That is the reason behind them for coming off

From what i understand, the Optimus tankbag is known for its capacity and size. A friend of mine has the magnet one for his P220 and he was particularly impressed with its capacity. It gulps a fullface helmet and there's enough face to put a few tees, towels, etc. Even after filling it up completely, it doesn't look overfilled. Maybe its the design or the material used.. i am not quote sure on that.. but it looks neat

Regarding the obstruction caused.. it might create a few issues depending on the motorcycle and the handlebar(stock/custom fitted). The bag is available since quiet sometime now and its still considered a top buy. But if it has survived for these many years, then i doubt the problem is that big.

I personally dont like a big tankbag. Rather i am not comfortable with anything that's sitting in front of me. Smaller sized alternatives(cramster/viatera/dirtsack) are also available for someone who is not comfortable with a big size..

If someone likes a good capacity tankbag, optimus is a really good option
