Btw which is the next best bet as far as ventilation goes after SOL?
And also which helmet models are there in the market worth considering in 4-5k price bracket?

Nuvo seems to have good ventilation.. as told to me by Nikhil sood (Niks Devil). He uses one.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostThanks!!

Ventilation, in my humble opition the cheapest of the helmets give some of the best ventilation out there, for 600 to 1000 they offer some of the best ventilation than my expensive helmets.Originally posted by chicane1879 View PostThanks!!

But for the price you've quoted, why don't you try, RJays, LS2 and Vega. Pretty good VFM products.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

But then at that range you have pretty good helmets. Try RJays, Nuvo, LS2 and Sparx, all are of good value and not too heavy on the head.
Do check them all out before trying out it from US. Also sourcing from US is pretty cheap comparatively than purchasing it from India, where you have some cost downside sourcing from overseas.
Cheers!

i want to hear more about SOL helmets(especially when compared to Ls2's)
somehow i feel that airoh, kbc, daijjya and rjays are bit over priced here(india).
i would love to have the sparx s-07 rebel but its not in the stock now!!!
i got HJC rps-10 shipped here from US and it worked cheaper by a huge margin even after paying the customs when compared to the price at PRS
how good are scorpion/speed&strength/bell helmets???
any first hand experience??

Care to explain how. As far as I understand, there are some cheap helmets with vents that does not work. Just there for show. Hope you are not talking about open faced, or those small helmets that are more suitable for bicycles.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostVentilation, in my humble opition the cheapest of the helmets give some of the best ventilation out there, for 600 to 1000 they offer some of the best ventilation than my expensive helmets.

Check SriramEFund's signature on SOL's review; I fully agree with that too. Compared to LS2, SOL is light weighted. So far none of us find any complaints with SOL. Its a pure VFM helmet with GENUINE DOT certification which is available as G-MAX helmets in US.Originally posted by harsha645 View Posti want to hear more about SOL helmets(especially when compared to Ls2's)Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

I have extensively used the following 3 helmets.Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostCare to explain how. As far as I understand, there are some cheap helmets with vents that does not work. Wind Noise : Rs.1700 Vega > Rs.1200 Aaron = Rs.3200 LS2 (lower is better)
Ventilation : Rs.1200 Aaron > Rs.1700 Vega > Rs.3200 LS2 (Higher is better)
All 3 are full face helmets.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I haven't had any first hand experience with Scorpion Speed & Strength and BellOriginally posted by harsha645 View Postsaw that discussion and review before posting here

Now I've read many positive reviews about Bell and Scorpion helmets and mind you all these are used in racing, and Bell and Scorpion have been in the league for well over decades.
HJC is cheaper and comparatively priced than others, if you can try sourcing HJC it's the best cheapest helmet you can source from overseas.
Regarding Speed & Strength I can comment on their jacket and stuffs, but not helmet.
Kaynmantis, you need to understand and antz had explained his review too. I've used the Vega, Studds for well over close to a decade. Studds Ninja was by far the best in both ventilation and comfort.Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostCare to explain how. The Vega was a tad too noisy and starts to wobble left and right when you pick speeds up. Served its purpose well before it gave up.
There are a lot of helmets which have *so called vents* which are completely useless and just for vanity sake. But then, if you're able to discern from which is *cheap and useless* helmet from a good one, you'll know the difference.
Regarding your query about bicycle helmets, I am afraid this thread is supposed to be of motorcycle gear, not bicycle I'm afraid.

@Kaynmantis, I guess antz summed it up pretty good.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostI have extensively used the following 3 helmets.

I need a short review of the HJC helmet from you...I'm considering lids in the 6-8k range here and the PRS guys told me that they'll be stocking HJC soon starting from about 6.5k and I'm waiting to try those.
The other options I have are Airoh Speedfire- Joker, Sparx S-07, KBC (entry-level VR at 8k.)The man who designed the Tower of Pisa was the First Biker ever...
