Get yourself the best that you can afford - that would be my advice. Go through this thread so that the reviews will give you an idea of whats available and then you can decide for yourself. Just ensure you get the proper fit.

What will be the minimum id need to spend to get smthng that has a decent visor that doesnt scratch or fog and not allow air at high speeds?

I see different prices and brands being discussed but Id like to know where to start.. thanks a lot for your reply bro

There is no such thing as a visor that does not scratch or fog - at best it will be resistant to both - this is true even for helmets which cost 50K. How you care for it counts a lot. A helmet that does not vent will be too hot to wear in Chennai climate, so go for something that vents well. That said, most Indian helmets do not seal well at the visor, and allows lots of air in through the gaps in the eye-port and shell. This is due to poor design and build.

Ultimately you can only get what you pay for.

For the Ninja, I'd recommend at least an LS2 and anything above. Should start at about 3k onwards - the sky's the limit. Again, try to get the best you can afford - your life may depend on it.

On a different note, a friend of mine from the 650r FB group in Mumbai met with an accident and is in hospital with head injuries - has been unconscious since the day before. I'm not sure if he was wearing a helmet or not, since he was riding a scooter and not his Ninja at the time ( not that it's an excuse) but I cannot stress more the importance of wearing a helmet at ALL times.

Cannot even imagine the trauma his wife and kids are going through.

Thanks a lot for the info, finally am getting the picture thanks to u...

I understand about scratch resistant and what I meant by "not allow air" is sealing at the visor... so all helmets that we get here do not seal properly, is it?

                  One more question,
Nuvo Unit Helmet : Octane Green - 5,990.00Rs
would this be good? I could stretch myself to 6k. Is this worth the price or should I look into the ls2?

Sorry to hear about your friend, hope her recovers soon!

                  Thanks again for your help

I haven't used or even seen one, so I can't comment. The LS2 is popular because of its affordability. I use a SOL 68s myself.

Any Idea where I can get an LS2 from in chennai? How is the SOL? How much did it cost?

                      • Read a news in ToI few days back about fining bikers without ISI helmets in Mumbai. Also they fined those with DOT, Australian certifications.

You can see a range of helmets at Sree Padham in GP Road. He carries Cross, LS2 and SOL, among others. Contact Prem @ 9884458400.

In Mumbai perhaps, not Chennai. The article also indicates the cops have back-tracked - I've not heard of this issue after that incident.
