Re: Helmets
Before i was like most indians, i used to just wear helmet to save myself from the cops but luckily even for that i bought myself a LS2 with that pumping option as that gave me a snug fit but now my attitude towards helmet has totally changed as its because of my LS2 that i am still alive after my last accident 3 days back, i just cannot believe a good helmet can make so much of a difference i got knocked down by a truck n fell straight on my skull and when i was down i was hit on my head by the car behind me but my helmet took it all and i felt almost nothing. So now i wanna buy a new helmet again as my LS2 is completely damaged, i wud love to go for the same helmet again but that helmet was too heavy and because
of that i used to get a lot of neck pain on long rides, so i want a helmet now that offers protection n fit like LS2 but is also light in weight. My budget is 7K cant acced more than that as i am a student. PLzzzzz reply guys which helmet i can get for 7K n where in mumbai, SOL is not a option as both the authorised SOL dealers in mumbai dont keep helmets below size L and i dont wanna buy helmet online as i wanna try helmet before buying to see its fit as snug fit is very important and all helmets fit in a diiferent way,so buying online is not a option for me. PLzzzzz reply which helmet i should go for and where i can get it in mumbai.Last edited by sanjana k; 08-08-2013, 02:13 AM.

sanjana k.. Good lord that you are safe after such an accident.. Also from now on, try to be even more on the safer side and get other riding gear.. And don't ride into trucks
about the availability in bombay.. The members from that region can give a more clear idea..
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Helmets
If you want really light weight helmets try AIROH from Bachoo Motors or HJC from Performance Racing Store both in Mumbai.Originally posted by sanjana k View PostBefore i was like most indians, i used to just wear helmet to save myself from the cops but luckily even for that i bought myself a LS2 with that pumping option as that gave me a snug fit but now my attitude towards helmet has totally changed as its because of my LS2 that i am still alive after my last accident 3 days back, i just cannot believe a good helmet can make so much of a difference i got knocked down by a truck n fell straight on my skull and when i was down i was hit on my head by the car behind me but my helmet took it all and i felt almost nothing. The AIROH ranges are pretty lightweight and KBC and HJC from PRS too are pretty light weight helmets. Pls check their website for more info.

Re: Helmets
As VJ has suggested do try out the Airoh's. both HJC and KBC sold in that price range have quite large shells, which may not suit you.Originally posted by sanjana k View PostBefore i was like most indians, i used to just wear helmet to save myself from the cops but luckily even for that i bought myself a LS2 with that pumping option as that gave me a snug fit but now my attitude towards helmet has totally changed as its because of my LS2 that i am still alive after my last accident 3 days back, i just cannot believe a good helmet can make so much of a difference i got knocked down by a truck n fell straight on my skull and when i was down i was hit on my head by the car behind me but my helmet took it all and i felt almost nothing. As a matter of curiosity, what size was your LS2?

Re: Helmets
Ok, all learned biker brothers, my query: Helmet for girls (not kid) - size & protection, Budget - not beyond 7K. Give me some names/brand & availability.
It is for my sister who is getting a Honda Dio today & is against full-face helmets (says it looks bikerish
, you know girls) I scolded her and explained the importance of good helmet, educated her on the benefits. After all the gana-bajana, I still feel that she's going to buy a small half-face girly helmet - after all look matters and it is difficult to convince after some point. So I am planning to buy one and give it to her the next time 'am home. I just want her to be safe , considering the fact that she is still in the early part of the learning phase of How to Ride!!

Thanks in advance!BENEATH THE REMAINS.........

Re: Helmets
I appreciate the care you exhibit towards your sister. Honestly, I think the full face helmet will not work for now brother. Let her enjoy the ride. You know fancy helmets are not safe but would you still compel when you see the disappointment and tears ready to flow down? You will give up and loseOriginally posted by chaosaddict View PostOk, all learned biker brothers, my query: Helmet for girls (not kid) - size & protection, Budget - not beyond 7K. . Whew!! The biggest weapon on earth...
Instead, send her text messages everyday or once in 2/3 days on road safety tips. Make it a habit of texting her on basic road rules and what to do in case of road emergencies and all that stuffs. Educate her on RC book, insurance, road tax, etc., related to her bike.
Once she masters all these tips with your involvement, I am sure she will either get a full face helmet herself or ride safe without the need for one.
Good luck !Last edited by petrolhead_chn; 08-08-2013, 12:36 PM.My DIY(s) - Sprocket bearing change | Paint job | Custom speedo dial

Chaos saab, gift her a SOL butterfly. Don't wait for something to happen in order for her to learn.Originally posted by chaosaddict View PostRightly put, bro!! I call her for giving gyan

Show her a few articles where the "so called HALF FACE/OPEN FACE helmets" gave way in an accident.

Re: Helmets
Thanx bro!! I have looked upto SOL but did not check availability as of now - will do it. Worst case, my plans were to buy LS2/Cross plain without graphics in size S (Is it available?, I have hardly seen any!) What did you finally get for her, howz the fit - any picsOriginally posted by TranquilRageGirly looking helmets - 1 is the SOL Butterfly, 2 is Airoh Speedfire Butterfly. Wasn't able to find any other availabe locally when I was looking for my better half. SOL wasn't available immediately while Airoh was. Or you may look for a neutral looking helmet, say a complete white one and add some stickers (after checking that it won't affect the quality or her visibility to other vehicles).

Re: Helmets
FYI - the proper fit of the helmet is ascertained by the circumference of your crown .i.e. the circumference of your skull that is measured just above the eyebrows. This is the primary fit that determines how snug the helmet is for your head, in order to be able to properly absorb the impact forces acting on your brain. The secondary fit is the comfort fit, of your cheekpads, which allow you to upsize or downsize depending on how fat in the jowl you are.Originally posted by sanjana k View PostMy LS2 was size L as i couldnt not find any LS2 of size M-S,but as it had that pumping system it gave me a snug fit
This little known fact is often mis-represented by dealers who prefer to stock only size L in order to control inventory and hoodwink gullible customers with a "snug" fit around the cheeks, as if you were trying to protect your cheeks!
The above is the correct way to size your helmet, the rest is bakwaas ( to borrow a phrase from a friend!
)
SOL is introducing a new full faced model for women in about a month. Priced around Rs.3500/-.Originally posted by chaosaddict View PostThanx bro!! Re: Helmets
If I were in your place, I would buy a women sized white full face helmet with zero graphics, get it sprinkled with pink sprays and then put a few "power-puff girls, mini mouse etc stickers around it" before gifting it to my sisyOriginally posted by chaosaddict View PostOk, all learned biker brothers, my query: Helmet for girls (not kid) - size & protection, Budget - not beyond 7K.
