They had the Optimus in XL, but on inspection it seemed a bit flimsy, plus I was 50% fixed on the Blade after the conversation I had with JRay, the build quality pushed me over the edge and ended up with the Blade. Though I must say they could've skipped the sun visor and NFC and reduced the price. Plus DJ didn't have any other colour in XL, hence meh freakan!

I'm used to using open-face helmets to date, I like the full visibility it provides. But on longer highway rides the full-face comes with it's own issues.
              - Protection at speeds in a open face is highly compromised.
              - wind resistance and wind-blow is a big problem
              - during rainy rides/ on wet roads all the muck & grime from the other vehicles is sprayed right into the mouth - not a very desirable situation.

Hence I'm planning to get a Full face Helmet for the long rides and one parameter is visibility. Anyone you guys can suggest which has unrestricted view?

I tried the Lazer helmets and it felt good but seemed bit over-priced. Also would help if those from Mumbai can help with reliable shops selling genuine products.

This is not a post to suggest which brand/ model to buy. There are many members here who know MORE about what is available in the market.

This is only addressing your belief that an Open face helmet offers better visibility. Please have a look at this study - http://www.msf-usa.org/downloads/imsc2001/McKnight.pdf

Though this study is 20 years old and comparing hearing and vision with no helmet, 3/4 helmet and full face helmet. The results of vision should be of particular interest to you. Of course model of helmet used would play an important role in the study. But in the last two decades helmet technology has come a long way. Most modern day full face helmets would restrict peripheral vision marginally. And even then the difference in vision is more than made up by the head movement. To sum up, it is a myth that full face helmets reduce your vision, and this is not even taking into account the safety advantage that a full face helmet offers over an open helmet.

My sincere request to you is, don't just buy a full face helmet for highway riding, but use it in the city as well. A 60 kmph crash in the city is enough to crush your jawbone. Personal preference is the only reason for going for an open helmet over a full face. There is no scientific, rational reason.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

While I totally agree on the rational of safety using full face even in commutes, but when commute is 99% b2b traffic with hardly even space to go at 15 a full face seems to only increase discomfort with buckets of sweat. my commute is from saki naka to charkop, the most dreadful route in this city. Anyway that aside I'm not discounting on it's safety aspect. But for proper highway riding which I took up only recently open face is a nightmare which I experienced first hand.... basically all the years of just commuting I totally forgot how fast a highway ride can be .

I'm looking up at some posts & i've crossed LS2 out of the probable list, I'm trying on MT, SOL & Bell(tad expensive! but I've used bell cycling helmets so I have assurance).

Can someone point out places in Bombay where I can try atlest both MT & SOL my budget can be extended if I feel the price is right. I'm looking for somewhere in the range of 5-6k, I can go upto 8K if I feel it's worth it. Any suggestions are welcome.

Main difference being that ff384 has different padding, has a chin curtain, air vents are different.

Please check the post from prateek, he has mentioned all the helmets from 1500-12000 rupees.

If there are any specific questions regarding helmet purchase, please put across. Don't just bluntly ask for which helmet will look this.and that. Be specific.
