White ZMR, so something that complements it. Would prefer White, Black, Red, Silver colors.

I ride mostly in city and occasional longish tours. I basically need a full face helmet, but anything like the studds ninja 3g, which becomes open face as well, would be appreciated.

Budget is 2-5K but if I really like the helmet, would not mind it stretching a bit.

    Appreciate your creative suggestions.

    Thanks.

I should have mentioned this in my original post, but it is because of LS2's authenticity issue I find myself with very few options, and hence asked for you guys' opinion.

          Thanks.

            • Re: Helmets

Just a warning to anyone thinking about buying sub-standard brands. I have an LS2 (I'm pretty sure it's not a fake) since 2012, I like the fact that it has got low wind noise. But low wind noise also means no wind inside the helmet! I was bearing it somehow in other cities. But moved to Jodhpur, Rajasthan 2 years back and couldn't use it in summer at all! In march this year, I decided to buy a simple, lightweight & WINDY helmet for city use during summer (while using LS2 during winter). Wasn't sure about size and fitting hence avoided online sellers. Went to a well known retailer who keeps every brand BUT Studds. I was looking for modular Flip-up helmets withing 2000 range. I was inclined towards Vega flip up helmet, but it was too small and there is no size choice in vega helmets (at least that's what the shopkeeper told me).
Ended up buying this piece of junk:
Replay Dream Plain Flip-up Helmet with Dual Clear Visor (Black, M): Amazon.in: Car & Motorbike

The reviews on amazon are positive, I think those guys don't use the flip-up feature at all, that's why they are praising it's quality etc.
It looked nice initially and didn't break while testing the flip-up in the shop, I DID TRY to break it, the shopkeeper knows me pretty well and didn't object! Ended up buying due to lack of options. The very next day, the flip-up mechanism broke! Took it to him and he replaced it with another piece. The second one broke after 2 months. The flip-up latching mechanism is so DELICATE and complicated, that it wasn't possible to restore it. I made a custom latch part with plastic bits and araldite, it still breaks every time I use the flip-up button!

Posting it here to warn other xbhpians not to make the same mistake! Always go for the reputed brands!

              • Studds Shifter Best ISI Mark Made in India Helmet in 2015

Got my second Studds Shifter. Had crashed in my first Studds Shifter, the helmet took a major impact and which I believe saved my life. Therefore I do not have doubts over the ability of this helmet to withstand a crash.

The Shifter is the Flagship model from the Studds lineup. I got this aweseome matt Black & While color combo this time. It cost me just around Rs. 1,890/-

I had previously used a Steelbird (GP One/SB10) & 2 Daijya helmets (one of them a carbon fibre).

Studds Shifter (2015) PROS: The Helmet has got all the Basics Right
+ Nice design and graphic options

+ Sturdy shell and overall built quality. Touch and feel of the helmet is quite good

+ Relatively light in weight (for someone used to good quality imported helmets)

+ Removable and washable interiors. The cheek pads are of decent thickness (not very snug by high quality imported helmet standards, but it is sort of ok)

+ Sun Visor: I find it very helpful while riding in the sunlight (the mechanism to operate the Sun visor is simple i.e one has to lift up and down it by hand/fingers, unlike the ones that I have seen on other helmets that come with lever mechanisms attached outside the helmet)

+ Optical Quality of the Visors: Clear and distortion free

+ ISI Mark: "Bikers" might scoff at the absence of DOT and ECE certification marks, but one can ride peacefully with the ISI mark knowing that the "Cops" now can't find a reason to "challan" because of the use of a "non-ISI-marked" helmet

+ PRICE: At 1,700-1,900 (if one can buy it from helmet re-sellers at Karol Bagh, New Delhi) it's a very good value for money. MRP mentioned on the studds website is Rs. 2,030/- & Rs. 2,165

                Studds Shifter (2015) CONS:
                - The helmet becomes noisy after 60 KMPH. But that is NOT a con for me as I prefer riding with ear plugs.

On the flip side one gets good amount of air inside the helmet that keeps the face/head cool even in hot summers. In very cold winters I guess one would have to wear a balaclava.

                - The vents opening and closing mechanism at the top of the helmet feels a bit flimsy in operation

                - Although the Studds helmet mentions that presence of Size M and XL, re-sellers keep only Size L

Summary: Its a good helmet especially at this price. Happy to see a Decent Quality Made in India helmet.

I have checked the Vega Axor and used the Steelbird GP One, both of which are the respective Flagships helmets of Made in India, ISI marked brands. The Studds Shifter is according to me the Best ISI Marked Made in India helmet that I have seen till date.

For the state of current helmet, I would say it is your fault as you kept the helmet near the branches of tree. Why can't you take the helmet along, is it very heavy

Studds Ninja 3g chrome editon. Was bought by my bro 2 yrs back and hardly used before he left overseas. Took it out to see if I can use it instead of buying a new one. Turns out it is size L 580mm, and doesnt fit me. (I've a big head)

Chrome edition was it seems a limited editon, so cant get the same with a larger size now.
