  • Low beams is FANTASTIC!!!! You can increase the height a bit more though, but thats upto you.

Highbeam definitely needs to look up a higher!

Plus the light is really white, need to see how it does on a pitch dark highway in rains and fog!

Yup. Highbeam needs to go higher. Actually since the light is white, it is outstanding in pitch dark. Rains + Fogs, yet to test. Nandi Hills after a rainy night?

Low beam is actually enough for speeds upto 70 kmph. You can check it out for yourself sometime. Best thing is it doesn't glare the oncoming drivers at all. It's adjusted in such a way that if you are just behind a car diagonally, the beam throw is just below the RVMs of the car.

It is actually the penetration that I was worried about. When oncoming beams hit you, you tend to see less of the road. Now, problem solved.

        • A small word of Caution

          Hi Guys,
On May 2nd, i went to fit a K&N on my bike. I went to Hardeep Automibiles on GP road in Chennai. While the fitting was going on, the owners brother came running and started saying " hide all the HID kits and stop selling HID's immediately. It seems the Times of India had an article mentioning that cops in TamilNadu, Chennai esp. are out in search of automobiles with bright headlamps and that too with immediate effect. So only stock headlights allowed.
There was this guy who came to buy Philips 600kHID for his ZMA. But the owner never sold it to him.
Here, I managed to find the Epaper on TOI.

          and Article Window

I badly wanna get some bright headlamps because i ride frequently between Chennai and Bangalore. But I'm kinda scared. I'm already riding my bike in Bangalore without paying roadtax.

Just thought of bringing this into the scene.

Bright headlamps should not glare the oncoming drivers. Otherwise, it is okay.

I see a lot of cop activity nowadays, even at noon, in Bangalore. You will have to be a bit careful.

I have mastered the art of hiding and camouflaging myself in Bangalore...
But still I want brighter headlamps. Currently I use the milk white stock bulbs of the Pulsar 200 on my 180UGIII.
Any suggestions as to what I could fit without harming others eyes a lot??
What about the electricals??? should i do something to it???

If you are looking at something around 1000Rs, you could put a higher wattage bulb 55W with an avenger coil mod. There are many people who have done that to achieve a higher light output from P180s and P200s. Otherwise if you are looking at Rs 3000 range then you could get an HID bulb.

                • just wanted to ask. i've a zma-r with stock headlamp setup. I find the road brilliantly lit up when I hold the pass light switch on low beam (both low and hi beam filaments glowing).

Can it be converted into a permanent feature if i don't require the pass feature? will it in any way harm the bulb or reflector or both?

                  • Help!

Guys, I have been using HID on my ZMA. A portion of the reflector that is directly exposed to the bulb has faded instead of being reflective. Has anyone using HID ever experienced this? Is this due to melting of the reflector?

are you sure both the filaments glow? only one should glow at a time.

yes... in the unicorn both the filaments glow... i guess the second starts running from the battery when the flasher is pressed...

                            • ohho, there're 2 filaments, one for hi and one for lo beam.

when u switch on the headlights at lo beam, and then press the pass/flasher switch, BOTH filaments light up.

But when we switch to Hi beam, only the hi beam filament is glowing, lo beam one is off.

I want both filaments to glow all the time whn I use hi beam. Any disadvantages of doing this?
In fact, how to do this?

                              • both the filaments glowing reduces the bulb life seriously and hence they don't generally connect them both at the same time.

If you mange to glow them both, it means that the power supplied is 35+35 = 70W. Now, will the coil be able to supply so much power? if yes, then why don't you just go for a Osram Silverstar 55/60W?

there's a thread running on DC wiring and stuff for Unicorn. That'd be of use oif you plan to do it.
