    • hey guys,i need a litle help here.
im planning on a DIY HID-projector mod on my FZ...

1.are there specific projectors for LOW and HIGH beam?i know abt bi-xenons but what if i want a projector for ONLY LOW or ONLY HIGH?

2.will it be possible to fit 2 projectors in my FZ?i mean do you get that small projectors?(frm Skodas etc.)
3.Halogens and HIDs have specific projectors right?
4.frm where do you guys get these used SKODA projectors?how much do you pay for it?....and what kind of projectors do SKODA have?...HIGH beam/LOW Beam/bi Xenon?and what kind of HID bulb to they hold?

      thank you

Dude, there are dedicated projectors for H/L but sourcing one is pain. U can use a bixenon projector for both as a 9AH batt wont support 2 projectors at a time, else, u need to upgrade the batt without tampering the beauty of the bike is another mess. Or one at a time system but u need to have enough space within the dome which I dont think as FZ dont have a fairing to hide the projector body if u wanna fit 2 lenses in one. One is advisable in my opinion.

U can get HID projectors from Ebay or any other similar sites, but the end price tag will be huge as in all sites prices quoted are excluding shipping, normal shipping chgs for a 500gm is around 30-40 USD. And u may be required to do the customs clearing depends on the shipping co u opt, reputed shippers like DHL, UPS wont take much time for shipping hardly 3-5 days to ur doorstep including clearing but the charges will be the above plus. Pls keep in mind that an HID projector will weigh a min of 1.8- 2 Kgs as the std. and varies from model to model, which u can clarify with the supplier.

HID and halogen projectors are entirely different as the bulb holder and the focus issues as both bulbs have different size and length. Even a normal HID conversion kit wont give u a proper beam spread as the length of the bulb and glowing part of the both bulbs are diff so just imagine what could be the focus and beam spread. Still you think an HID conversion kit is giving you the desired output, its wrong, you can just compare with the beam spread with a halogen into the same dome, take some snap shots of the beams, and try with the HID beam spreads.

Getting the lens from junk yard is not a big issue, u r from Cochin? Go to the North overbridge south end beneath there are scrap merchants with lens, very few though, u can trade, I found one Laura 3" lens with the whole assy, with ballast, and even the high beam bulb was there, minor scrathes were on the outer glass, nothing to do for us. When I asked'm directly he demanded 5K and when I contacted thru another fellow from that side, he came down to 3.5K . He said many bikers've taken the lens but not even one is seen on road, reason is simple its not that easy to fix. U can try that but fixing it to your dome will be another pain as these lense are not coming with shrouds to cover the lens assy, or u may need to build one with SS sheet. If u keep the assy outside the dome, dust, water will get in and with no time its useless untill u clean it.

Seems its too lengthy narration, but I just shared what I gathered from all around, hope it'll be helpful for u.

        • oh yes really helpful, thank you sajjt!
what im planing is to keep a HID-projector and a halogen....now if i am able to mount the HID-projector successfully, ill obliviously wont have space for halogen...so what should i do...get a fog lamp for it?
and im planning to use the HIDs only while touring/highways,so only one will be used at a time.

and can you also tell me what kind of a projector does the SKODA have?and what kind of a bulb can they hold?

i went to all the shops under the bridge today, but none had any! even P220's!
and are you using Lauras projector still?if not,is it for sale?

          thank you

Am not using Laura projector so no idea about the bulb types, but its a single beam projector as its got a high beam along with the side. You've seen my projector setup and made a comment too. Forgot? Its here

We can not make sure that scrap items will be available all the time, it must've gone. Check the south eastern side shop close to the rails, guy is not that friendly to communicate, and dont ask for the bike, as they expect car owners to get more fortune, anyway u need to buy the whole unit he started with 3.5K but I dropped the idea for going in as I thought its not that easy to mount.

              • Hey everybody,

Has anyone tried the R15 fairing on a stock Pulsar stator/coil setup? Is the dimming induced by running two 35w/35 bulbs running off a 35w/35 stator/coil, too much? I've seen a some pulsars fitted (Vidit Kalra etc) with the R15 fairing, but I think almost everyone's used the Avenger's stator plates (55w/60) with it.

                Any suggestions?

                • Yeah, it is a must! Else, you can use 25/25W bulbs and no pilots and see.

                    Hi,
I'm sorry to disappoint you but unfortunately, a HS1 Halogen lamp cannot be directly fit into the old Activa models.
Hard to believe, but when I tried installing the bulb, I couldn't because the stock ones were of a bayonet mount- similar to the ones used for domestic household lighting. I was shocked to see this.
All I could do was close the headlight bay back in place and take home the now useless HS1 bulb.

                    Regards,
                    Vignesh

                    • ^^^ that is true. And you can still use a Halogen in Activa. I saw both Mico (using it now) and Osram (people say it is better. If I have to replace the Mico I will try this next time) halogens for that holder at about Rs 60.

I will definitely try and get a halogen bulb for this mount.

                              Hey, Navnish,

These are the pics of the bike with the new HID bulbs.

Couldn't get a better picture, the darn point and shoot digicam kept reseting itself because of the headlight's intensity.
