With the upcoming rule making ABS mandatory in bikes, should we wait for an ABS version of thunderbird?
Though there has not been any announcement from the company

BSIV availability not intimated earlier, we got confirmation only by March I hope.
If they give us the availability of ABS version earlier then people will wait for ABS bikes, so their business gets affected until ABS bikes launched. I believe it's business tricks[emoji23] .(all it's my assumption).

Let's believe govt rules on Bikes with ABS come into sale by 2018.

Nope every 3000, and oil is supposed to be changed every alternate service. Means oil would be changed every 6000 kms. Though first service would be at 500 kms and I recommend to replace the oil on every service.

Thanks ..I had a Pulsar 180 ..like 10 years back..and then Glamour..now I am riding Aviator to office (30 kms both ways)..My ht 6 feet, wt 95 kg ..I have heard RE has

                1. Vibration problems over 80 speed
                2. Poor Brakes if suddenly applied
                3. No tubeless tyres
                4. High maintainence

How will be RE for me in busy gurgaon traffic..I felt very good when taken a test ride .

Yeah vibes are there but big engines do vibe.

Brakes are not like you mentioned they are really good.

Yeah no tubeless tires but they can be installed aftermarket by upgrading to the alloy wheels.

I don't think my classic 500 is high maintenance considering this much big engine.

Only problems I am facing with my bull are minor ones.

Like frequent clutch wires breaks, fuel leaking it topped to the brim. No major issues though.

                  BTW that's my bull

                    Hello RE Owners

I am a bit confused over Thunderbird. I have been born and brought up in Arunachal Pradesh. Have seen Army guys thumping over bullets, those Green ones, I have always loved to have one of them.

I am a govt teacher by profession, I have to drive 70kms(both sides) daily to reach my school, all on State highways! Currently I own Bajaj Discover 125T. Now I want to upgrade myself and live to my dream. About myself as a rider, I am not a fast rider (60kmph is sufficient for me).

After having read over xbhp and going over youtube reviews about Thunderbirds, I have some concerns. It would be an honor to get clarifications from you guys:

                    1) Can I handle Thunderbird? I am 5'8" and weigh 60kgs.
                    2) Some youtubers and previous readings on xbhp, owners have complained about oil leakage. Is it really there?
                    3) I don't have any problem on cost on service, but would love to know how often does RE needs to be serviced? Since I drive about 1800-2000kms per month
                    4) Why do people recommend Classics over Thunderbirds?

Looking forward for valuable inputs from RE Owners!!

                    Raj K. Singh

Sure , you can handle a thunderbird, its a great bike , if you ride at normal speed. Comfortable stance.
If you take care of it , it will take care of you. Do keep in mind that enfield bikes do need a bit more care than normal Bikes like Honda , bajaj etc.

I change oil every 3000 km. on my Bullet. but you can do it after 4000.
Not more than that in case of enfield.
There is no issue of leakage . (Dripping)
Choice between classic & thunder bird is a personal choice. I like thunderbirds

                          Hi everyone!
I need some help making a decision to buy the latest Classic Stealth Black model (500CC)
I currently own a Suzuki GS150R (2011 Model) and am planning to upgrade my bike now. I commute to my office daily (6-7 km on side) and generally roam around the city on weekends and plan to explore the Himalayas on my bike (that's why the I am inclined towards the classic).
I really love the new color and after taking a test ride, I fell in love with the thump and the torque. I almost booked the bike that day.
                          Now here comes the problem
After researching a lot on the internet, I have been feeling that RE bikes are very maintenance heavy and that would require you to visit your mechanic frequently. Plus, there are a lot of vibrations at lowers speeds (~30 KMPH) and higher (after 80-90 KMPH).
                          So, I have these questions:
                          1. What has your experience been with the classic 500 maintenance? I am talking about the eFI model. Are there any tips to ensure that problems do not occur?
                          2. What about the vibrations? I generally commute at around 60 - 80 currently. Will that be a problem on these speeds?
                          3. What about the new BSIV models? On talking to the service center guy, he told me that you cannot fill the tank above 10L otherwise the charcoal cannister would go bad. Also, reading on the internet suggests me that for eFI models, try keep fuel level above 5L. Is this info correct and am I to maintain fuel between 5-10L always?
                          4. Also, I took test drive of an older 500 and not the BSIV model. I've heard there is a lot of difference in the feel of these versions. Is that true?

Pl. note that I do not mind fiddling with my bike and learning about it (being an engineer).

It would be great if you guys could help me with these issues.

                          Thanks a lot!

Hi brother, Yes vibrations are there on RE since ages and every RE owner finds his own reasons to justify them. They should accept the cold hard truth. Someone said it vibrates because of a bigger engine. God if a 350cc or 500cc bike vibrates that to when not even pushed to its limits. You are doing it wrong RE. The new continental gt is coming out with a 750cc engine. Ill pray to god that it dosent explode. As you are coming from Japanese bike you will be annoyed with vibes no doubts about that. But after spending 1.5lkhs on a motorcycle everyone will adjust or they have to adjust. About the himalaya ride you are planning. People have done ladakh trips on bajaj platina and splendor. So dont buy RE for the sole purpose of ladakh trips and its 2017 and RE is still stuck with baba ajam ke jamne ka technology. No fuel gauge, no trip meter, no tacho, no abs nothing at all. Whats the premium amount is all about then??? Legacy?? Feel?? sorry bro if i sound like a hater but one should not spend lakhs on these things. Think practical man. Ill strongly recommend you to test ride Bajaj Dominar 400. Thats the best bet in this 2lkh segment.

You mean the military green right?? I think it should be around 1.7 to 1.8lkhs on road.
