The twins don't make sense in the city (unless someone here can prove otherwise. If so, what about the Interceptor?).

My logical upgrade seems to be the Bullet 500 but I am in two minds. I keep reading about engine problems here.

Thanks in advance for your inputs!

The bike is great but I need consider pillion comfort as well. This looks the least comfortable for the pillion rider.

You should buy thunderbird 500x , because it has tubeless tyres .

            Hey there,
As per what i have read in like 10-15 threads of Himalayan experience or ownership in here, i am clear that the pillion seat is good and the most comfortable seat a bike has in RE line ups.

You can go for ThunderbirdX or classic 350 ABS, I heard 500 may be discontinued henceforth.

Had wanted the Himalayan, unexpected expenses meant however that I could not get that. Have had to settle for a basic Bullet 350 standrd ABS. Brought it home two days ago and have done 70 km. Generally happy with the bike, just one big concern, about the rear suspension, its quite hard on me. Can I change the rear shockers to a more gentle and pliant set up. Will the electra's gas chargers fit, or should I perhaps consider something more expensive. Willing to spend up to to 10k or a even a little bit more for a better ride. Please do note that I am 62 years old, with a little bit of a back issue, although otherwise in reaobably good shape. My desire is to ride across the Deccan plateau, along small roads and maybe even kutcha tracks and explore the countryside. Moderators, if there is a discussion on the bullet suspension somewhere please do direct me over. Thank

I was eagerly waiting for the BS6 version of the Bullet 500 but I have just now read that RE is discontinuing the 500s in favour of the 650s. I am feeling so crushed right now

I know. I saw it on the website. Not only does it look ugly, it is also a BSIV. I'd much rather buy the Interceptor.

                          Hey Guys,

Need help in selecting a bike for myself.
I am still pretty much new to motorbike touring. Used to drive activa 4g before from past 2 years for commute(in Bangalore) and since past 3 months have been driving pulsar NS200 which I borrowed from one of my friend for sometime.
I have always been a fan of Royal Enfield and am planning to buy one for myself (a bit confused though).Right now I am too much tempted to buy the interceptor 650 but have too many questions bothering me and so I am not sure if its the right choice considering my overall riding experience . i would be using the bike both for touring as well as for daily commute .

                          Any suggestions for me?

BTW, I am 5ft 8 so height should not be a problem for me i guess but not sure if the Interceptor is suitable for Bangalore traffic particularly due to it's weight. Also I know its not a beginner bike as such so wondering if its the best fit for me.

                          Thanks,
                          Vishal

I think i am bit qualified here.. I am too a Bangalorean and have recently purchased Interceptor 650 primary for daily commute (read fun) with optional city exploring & touring in mind. Before that, I was 4 wheeler person (had clocked over 120k on my current i20 alone). Due to deteriorating traffic conditions, I had started using my wife's activa 5g for office commute from last 6-7 months which helped me in gaining road sense from 2 wheeler rider prospective and revived my interest in motorcycles.
Before that i had driven Harleys 4-5 times (fat bob, 883, 750 etc) on short journeys, 2 times bullet and 3-4 times my brother's RTR 180... and thats it!

I read a lot about what segment should i start with and with what budget.. Indian bloggers/youtubers stressed on starting from 150-200cc and then move to 300-400cc ... and so on... while foreign youtubers refer 600-750cc bikes as smallers ones and good starting points.. so i shortlisted on z650, Benelli leocini 500, Ninja 400, CB300R, RR 310, Duke Adventure 390, BMW GS 310 & Int 650...
I was able to test ride most of these .... with z650 & Int 650 being fav.. .. so i took decision to go ahead with Int 650 as it was value for money..

so, i suggest font worry about bike size, cc number, weight, power etc.. take test ride, align your budget (including maintenance) and then decide on your ride.

i am 6 feet, medium built, have done over 300+kms so far, mainly in traffic, there is bit of heat from engine but nothing scary (wear full pants / jeans with proper shoes), brakes are very good, power delivery is excellent.. bike doesn't feel heavy while riding..
For your height, foot pegs (touching your shins while moving bike manually) may be of some issue but you can get used to it...

I would not suggest to go with Interceptor as first bike, better stick to single cylinder for now, you can pick any of the 200-250CC bikes out there and they will serve you well. You can upgrade after a couple of years once you get the riding confidence and highway riding skills. Interceptor is a very good bike but it not really suitable for daily urban commute, it is heavy and you can feel that in slow speeds, it will get heated up in the traffic which makes it not enjoyable but it is a pleasure to ride on highways.

hello everyone, i'm looking to buy Interceptor 650, but a bit concerned about weight of the bike.
can you suggest ways to possibly reduce the weight of bike and seat height (approx 1 inch)

                                Thank you
