New ZMA or P220 DTS-i?

Pulsar 220, hands down.
Hey bro i was in the same dilemma some time ago, (even thinking of the RTR 180 and the R15) but i booked a P220 after months of inquiries, loads of rides and discussions for many reasons.
I'll copy and paste what i said in the ZMR thread so it'll be easier for you.
Doesn't make the cut IMHO
The way i see it, HH has done a good job by expanding within the premium segment of biking in India, but IMHO they should have done something new with the engine. Adding clip ons, rear disk, full fairing and a digital console is fine, but the bread and butter of performance biking is the engine. Any biker would agree that even today a bike like the RD350 is arguably respected more than the newer bikes and this is for one reason and one reason only. Not the looks, neither any of the so called 'goodies' that the ZMR packs.. It's sheer performance. Don't get me wrong the ZMR does it's job well, but one would expect something more after having the Karizma around for how many.. 6 maybe 7 years? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and some may be dazzled by it's looks (which i don't fancy much. the fairing looks a bit funny and the rear portion disappoints me) and some may not. The R15 is respected even though some people argue about its looks from the rear, specially the tyre etc (and they don't understand that it's not about the thickness, it's about the grip). In outright performance and reliability, nothing can compare to it. I also agree that fit and finish, after sales are better than the P220, but honestly if they had given the bike maybe 20 horses and priced it a wee bit higher this would have been a much, much better buy. I reckon there isn't much new as the back is inspired from cbz extreme, and gs150r, so is the headlight. The fairing looks out of proportion according to me. Overall, the bike seems okay, but it just doesn't make the cut for me.
I agree with people who say build quality of the zmr is better than the P220, but as some of the members pointed out, the advantages in the P220 are way way wayyyyy more than the disadvantages.
Trust me when i say the 220 is a bitter bike overall. The rest is upto you, but never regret whatever you choose. Ride safe. Ride fast.
See you when i see you

@Topic Starter, i say go for the 220, it is a far better bike to ride plus great VFM, and in my opinion, more of a looker than the oddly shaped ZM-R .
The ZMR, is underpowered, lacks grunt, lacks torque, is bulky, and looks obnoxious.Last edited by MG; 03-02-2010, 03:10 PM.

To all, i apologize if i've been disrespectful to you or your bikes. I wasn't trying to put you down. Just stating that overall, P220 is better than the Karizma
. @ Jithu thanks for pointing it out, but i was only trying to help him out in his decision. Ultimately, it's everyone to his own choice. Also i know about this community and i do respect every machine whether it's a 100cc or a supersport. Please don't take my comment so offensively. I'll avoid demeaning posts in the future.
But just so you know it's not that i'm trying to prove my ride is better or that i'm brand loyal. In fact i owned a HH Cbz till now. And bro, age is just a number, you should know that with the experience you seem to have. Just because i'm a teenager doesn't mean i'm arrogant.

don't you think a member who is active on xBhp since '04 shall have an idea whether SS or BB has been done and been successful?on which motorcycles and what the avg. speed is?
the avg speed was ~75kmph
Back to topic--
Ripping and doing 130kmph is pretty much possible on a P-220, no one argued that, what me and ravi were probably saying that on Indian motorcycles maintaining an avg speed of more than 100kmph for extended periods is not safe, citing the way Indian motorcycles are kitted and the deplorable condition in which the traffic moves,
as far as choosing motorcycles, go, i myself would chose a P-220 over a ZMR
i am proud to say that i have emerged myself as a more cautious, more sensible and more mature rider since my orkut days only cause of xbhp..reading every members incidents, their mottos and diligence inspired me to be a safe rider with a full knowledge of riding(still learning)...if you can see,i am just loggin orkut just to upload my pics and as a mod for the largest fz community...however,orkut is silly and immature who just provacate and shout at others "my bike is best my bike is best".....am just a tourer now...forget about the importance of which bike am touring,i just wanna conquer all places by marking my territory on any bike...
and yes,as i have said to ravi before...certain people have their own idea of perception regarding the "safe" speed zone....i have my own...we cannot predict that riding at 10 or 50 or 100 may or may not lead to a disastrous incident which i may have to regret for the remaining of my life...but i love to live in my limits and explore newer ones...in short as i said before,a bull rider thinks 60kmph is the best and safest, another thinks its 100kmph,at the end of it,depends on the tactics, skills and sensibility of the rider...
i did not do any SS or BB..and i really dont see any sense in noting the average speed in this..all one has to see is the time limit, number of kilometers...the speed part plays its own(IMO)....and yes, what you have said about engine or parts life getting minimized is true, hence that rubber part incident on my 220...but the thrill or excitement can never be replaced dude..
i have seen enough accidents, deaths, lost of loved ones and friends in road accidents so rest assured that you can only see me below 60kmph with my ipod swaying gently to the road curves...the only playing area is a highway and also rest assured for that is i had been capable in knowing my limits all these years and kilometers(touchwood)
regarding the member from old years: i respect the older members...but that doesnt mean i have to follow blindly cause i respect myself first.when i said i have done so and so kms in so and so time,it mean si am just sharing my happiness and info(if any)..old members, new members...doesnt hurt anyone to regain knowledge when its presented correctly.you have directly offended me and my personal accomplishment(for me its a happy accomplishment) by saying i am faking it and i couldnt have done it.hence the outburst..and for this i apologize from my side....
and if you see my profile in Xbhp, you will see that i prefer zma than 220 cause we all know the reason.i am just being fair to whatever fairness deserves..peaceLast edited by satan69in; 03-02-2010, 01:57 PM.I RuLe Da HeAvEn, I RuLe Da heLL,I RuLe Da UnIvErSe, As HuMaNiTy FeLL

ZMA, pulsar, fazer, how does it matter?? 17bhp v/s 20bhp?? Are you even gonna use that extra 3 bhp ever?
Frankly I dont see the whole point of these "which bike should I buy" discussions. If you like a bike, test ride it and buy it. Any bike will serve the purpose unless you really want to compete in some rally or track events in which case you should be asking some professional "which bike to buy".

But one thing here I would like to know from ZMR owners and experts
isnt it true that honda is planning to discontinue the ZMR and it has some serious issues with the FI unit. Last time when I met an Xbhpiaan who had a yellow ZMR, he said that the bike becomes really hot and sometimes smoke comes out from the fairing and also when I test rode it the vibrations were very high.
I really respect and love the ZMR but after the experience and the test ride am scared that you are buying it, am not telling you to change your decision but please please make sure that everything is fine from hero hondas end and then only spend 1 lac + plus!!!!!!!

What is really puzzling is, Hero Honda is still delivering the ZMR at many places, though very very few. If there are any issues with FI and Oil cooler, they would have stopped the deliveries to rectify the problems.
Also, the engine is developed by Honda, and failing of FI unit is highly, highly unlikely. Though the bike is from Hero HOnda, the engine is from Honda and failure of the same definitely dents the Honda's reputation.
What I suspect is, as the HH is supplying very very few ZMRs, there are many rumors flying around, that are created. May be there are some genuine problems, but most of the bikes who bough on xbhp are running fine. One person experienced vibrations only after he fell at 50 kmph and damaged the fairing.
Whatever, better not buy ZMR as of now, to be cautious, as things are highly suspicious.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

Uh Oh! I really thought that the ZMR is a really good bike, backed by Honda's legendary reliabilty and quality build...Hmmm!Last edited by yamahatrooper; 04-02-2010, 05:53 AM."I set out running but I take my time, a friend of the devil is a friend of mine. @DKGBOND: hey bros.... for me engine stability would be less noise and more smoothness on any kind of ride (city or highways)...
@Hypergamer: hey man.... can you confirm me the news of the FI issue that you have mentioned, because i don't want to regret later... i haven't heard any issues for ZMR till now (Except that it looks really bulky, but that fine i would prefer a bulky one for me)..
To be on a serious note, please confirm me the issues in the engine (if any) so that i should think over it once again... i know i have thought about it since the past 6 months but still i need to be sure of what i'm going to buy.....
Please let me know the same....
