heard ZMR is a gud bike...seems bit bulky.
i need a bike mainly for city riding conditions.....
i might plan for some roadtrips..but that wud be very later..say a year later!!
a decent mileage is also in my list....i am short...5'6".
wat shud i go in for?? ZMA, ZMR or R15??

i love ZMA but it might get phased out soon...that thought is hindering my decision...if that is so, then i must go in for some othr better machine...either R15 or ZMR...
please tell me, which is the best value for money????

The R15 though not a value for money product still suits your height...go for it...ZMA & ZMR are better for tall riders..

my question is nearly the same....
shud i go in for Karizma R or P 220F....i have been using pulsar 150 Dtsi UG2 since well over 5 years now.....i knw the extreme reliable engine of karizma R, but as of now..As the bike is in the market for nearly 8 years, is there a possibility
of the bike being phased out?? say in a couple of years??

m spending well around 83 grands So wanna make sure that with the machine i buy, i shudnt feel in two years that its old now,(as in old model)
          or its production being stopped....

I want a bike thats hassle free and problem free for 5-6 years or more.....
a decent mileage is as usual, everybody's demand
had been to book karizma R, but bookings r closed all over aurangabad side (maharashtra) and then wen i had been to Bajaj Pro Biking showroom,
found the fully loaded pulsar 220F very very tempting....!
havent slept since three days, still thinking wat shud i go for...

all pulsar owners, please clear my doubts whether P220 is Absolutely worth investing or not....some say abt engine reliability and stuf....please wanna hear about the bike from a pulsar 220 owner....!!!

guys please help me get some sleep!!!
Bro,i own a p220f for last 5 months and i can say that it is fun filled machine, absolutely value for money. There were some niggles in the intial batches but in 2010 edition it is fully rectified , keep an eye on the ownership thread of p220,almost 99% of owners are happy with their machines and u can ask for help there.

            • hey guys i m also in same dilemma...
              p220 vs zmr
my main concern is maintainence and mileage as i'll take the bike to college
i heard both are good tourers and thats y i m comparing them both and have ruled out r15
i basically want a bike which will give optimum performance even after 3 years and is a decent chick magnet as well
Men who still dream of being a pilot or an astronaut are yet to ride a motorcycle.

                ZMR :
                1. Lags in performance when compared to 220
                2. ZMA is tried and tested long term bike. Doesn't give much issues. Hopefully this does the same
                3. Mileage is almost equal to the 220DTSi
                4. Parts are EXPENSIVE. One big crash and it will make a big hole in your pocket
                5. Breeze to tour on.
                6. Looks are subjective.

                P220
                1. Best indian bike in straight-line Performance. Beats ZMA in this department hands down.
                2. Long term reliability has been an issue with the 220FIs. 220DTSi is relatively new so much cant be commented on that.
                3. Mileage hovers around early 40s ir late 30s.
                4. Parts are cheaper than ZMA.
                5. Decent to tour on but ZMA scores in this department.
                6. Again the looks vary from eye-to-eye.

having said that, all boils down to how you maintain your bike. I have seen well maintained 1st Gen stock P150s giving nightmares to the RTRs and P200s in city.

is their mileage really almost same?
                    p220 gives only 30-35kmpl
whereas ZMR is said to give 40-45 kmpl....
pls can u give me conclusive figures as i think mileage is gonna be the deal buster for me

Their FE is more or less same if ridden sanely. Although the p220 will have a slightly better mileage.

Mileage figures of both bikes hover at 35-40kmpl figures if ridden in limits.

If I were you, then I would choose ZMR over P220.

                          raw power+compromise in comfort+value for money=P220

Never rode a ZMR but they says it delivers more mileage as it's got FI and offers as much comfort as ZMA and okay with 90-100kmph cruising speed but I've to say...definitely overpriced.

dunno exact figure of P220 but ZMR will surely return you mileage in between the range of 40-45km/l under sane conditions..

I have a 220DTSi in my room. And it returns ~40. The owner rides at an avg of 65-75

Was 500bucks in bang when I last checked. BTW the guy is considering 220 and ZMR( not ZMA). Diff is a whopping 20k...lol

Dint read that properly. In kochi the ZMA is 4.5k lower than that of P220. Source:- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/522569-post49.html

                                @dushyant
Anyways since its a competition between ZMR & p220. I would say go according to your heart.
Regarding mileage the ZMR will have better figures (due to FI). If you are ready to sacrifice a bit on mileage then the p220 is the best bet. Afterall you are saving 20k on it & its power will leave ZMR miles behind. BTW the ZMR would be more reliable of the both & the p220 would be a better tourer since it has less fairing & hence will stay more stable to the cross winds.
