A progression of carburettors from Amal, to villiers, Bing & Mikarb.....

Cheers to you POWERTWIN & the machine in pic. Its one of Meteors or Constellation? This makes one more reason to wonder how you unearth such super rare ones; so much that i infact was hoping your own home-built-twin

We'll wait for the story but assure us that it'll be detailed one with much photos, videos of engine internals, assembly and ride as well. All this may sound too much of a demand but you know its just nothing infront of the respect this machine commands.

It is a factory produced machine.Royal Enfied used to make 700cc motorbikes viz,Meteor and constallation in England and also for the US market.
There was also a 750cc twin (736cc is what i suppose to be exact) named Interceptor during the last years of the Redditch factory.
There was also a smaller 500cc twin named meteor minor.

During the 50s, Royal Enfield used to market their 500cc and 700cc twins under the "Indian" banner.Once the agreement was over, they started exporting under their own name.

Yes it was me who went off the topic, by posting a RE 700 Twin power train picture to please dr.cr. instead of discussing about Enfield India produced or marketed machines since 1955 till now..
Sorry , now the topic has moved to RE twins like Meteor Minor, Super Meteor, Consetallation , Interceptor etc.,
Any way we will come back to G's, G2's, B series, AVL etc.,. sometime later ( hope Visnurag would have ample of infos regarding all these, he is just want to confirm things)
The pic of the RE twin posted by me & currently worked on is a " 700cc Constellation" Engine , as rightly said by Visnurag, it is a "INDIAN" engine, sourced from USA in bits & pieces, now re-built with complete new parts ( few parts like valve guide, Push rod was home made)
Just waiting for a original inlet manifold, even a SR2 magneto was just imported few days before...
almost completed....will get back with more pics of complete bike soon

Well guess all from coffee Table book ( Celebrating 50 years in India),
Just elongating a bit of Visnurags post about Re twins:-
Royal Enfeild in association with Indian motorcycle company, Springfield, USA @ early '50s sold RE 150cc ensign & 700cc Meteor at Us market, that to 700cc Meteor in INDIAN banner,
At 1954 Indian motorcycles signed a contract with RE Redittch , started importing range of Royal Enfeilds, however these models will be slightly modified to suit the American market with INDIAN badge..
from 1955 RE 's machines with Indian badge & their Mods came in...like>>>
                * Fire Arrow ( 250 Clipper + Indian mods)
                ** Woodsman (RE s 500cc scrambler)
*** Tomahawk ( 500 twin with up swept exhausts)
                **** TrailBlazer (700 cc meteor+..)
All the above were painted Red !!!
Though the contract was for 5 years, few other RE's was also included (imported to U S) till '1960s
By then Royal Enfeild name has become known @ US , hence royal Enfeilds was sold directly by UK based RE itself...@ 1960, on based on their 1958 consetallation 700c, a new model Interceptor with bigger engine ( 736cc) was exclusively made for U S market only....
More about 700cc twin to follow in my future posts...
                cheers!!!

I'm honoured PowerTwin Sire. Well a pic of the bike in here is never OT.
Eager to see the finished looks. Since Constellation had a newer frame & you'll be using an indian made, i hope it'll be dressed like first gen Meteor.

Happy that you have started your project in a singing note!!
regarding these " Dual lead HT coils", please don't try with those SO CALLED " Nippon denso coils", b'coz most of them available in the market (i mean abroad) are fakes, they seldom works, even if you source some used O.E stuff, the chance of performance is clueless, better try some new gen substitutes like this>>>>

Replicating a 700 s crank case for what??
Any way, it is no big deal to replicate one, even you are not a TR engineer, provided if you are not bothered about the money spent, at present advanced Metallurgy & Machining set up .
Only producing in big quantities is big deal ( financial input wise)
But replicating one or two will also drain your wealth!!! & there are few Technical constraints...which has to be either neutralized or compromised in the final function of the machine.
( need plenty of things to be discussed.regarding this....let's see whether I can post some pics of a WANKEL ENGINE prototype development for a Overseas Customer. a couple of years before....can explain the pros & cons, challenges faced, compromises done etc..)
This guy dr.cr seems to be mind reader or rather mind digger ....slowly digs out the mind... few weeks before about 700 twin.....& now WANKEL engine by me
