  • Dear Muthu Anna,

I remember seeing my grandfather riding a Hero Panther & Kelvinator's Avanti (Autogear) moped when I was young..

The Avanti had a gear system similar to Bajaj Autorickshaws.. Kindly share your knowledge on those bikes pls...

Might be the MIGHTY RE5 , no idea..as I din't concentrate on these(bike & Car WE's) aspects while working on the project, b'coz there is a chance of hijacking the WE project itself...diverging in to various tangents....."one can't be Jack of all trades"

Yaeh!! It is must to have 2 inlets...Shall discuss why after...
        I termed as " Auxilary Inlet" -{ the one in the END}
Though the thickness on the Main body is 90mm { inside width}, I prefered 2 spark Plugs in same line ...why??

                • PEUGEOT Sportif contd.....

ps: some problem with my photo sharing site...will be continued tomorrow[/QUOTE]

Before knowing the Machine...here is the pic, which will shed some light, who brought(manufactured & marketed this wonderful thing to India)...

And my license plate will reveals a hint also....

Though Bajaj Service center guys had nothing to do with this machine, she went for minor paint touche up job to the Shock abs, fork outer etc.

                  Steering & controls this way>>>

Fuel tank safe inside, with a outer latch and a key lock provision also>>

Note the vehicle maintenance instruction stickers inside the fuel tank outer cover>>

Sheet Metal spokes Wheels, repainted and outer Chrome thing just hand polished..

Here one can see the Kick Start Lever and the Kicker shaft is protruded an inch beyond the lever, there lies the knurled shaft portion covered by a plastic dummy to protect the Knurling, where Pedal can just pushed in and pedaled in case the rider want to switch to Bi-cycle mode, apart from Self start & Kick start, but not to forget >"Using the ignition key, turn the Button beneath the shaft anti-clock wise..and go for BI_CYCLE mode

                  Some controls..>>

Before going to Tech spec of this Bike....Can any one guess what is that plastic tube at the Sportif Fuel Tank, it runs from top to bottom....a simple ,but innovative French Engineering must say

edit: Though i'm yet to develop a soft spot towards mopeds, this one for sure tickles the right bones- a nicely (over) engineered machine, more of a luxury moped. Wonder if there was any moped which had features like the aptly named 'Sportif'.

Judging from the markings alongside the clear pipe, I think it is a fuel gauge.
The level of fuel in the pipe indicates the total fuel left.

                              Is correct?

Oh!! Shelly, think you are joking, As the fuel tank lid top diameter is more than the lid mouth and there is flip on lock to...so there is no chance of water & stuff, moreover you can see the top end of the tube runs into the tank itself
Well tried " Off shore Engineer", expecting you to join with us for this kind of kindergarten engineering quiz in future (hey joke buddy)

guess you never saw the graduations on the Tank outer...i expected our guys to spit out the right answer ,by the way the TUBE is mounted from bottom to top along the tank profile and not by the marks on the tank surface.( than that is Observation talent..not engineering!!)
BTW, Do you think Electric start is a Luxury affair, by what standards??

As you have judged by the graduated markings like 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 etc and the fuel left in the tube.....this answer doesn't deserve full marks....a little less than dr.cr
