I am an outstation member based in Rajkot. When I come on leave every 3 months or so, I try to make it a point to attend as many G2Gs as I can. I have refrained from penning my thoughts about the ongoing verbal duel between Eeshan and Shrinath as I do not wish to appear to be presumptuous in legislating about an event which I myself cannot attend owing to my absence from Pune for 10 months of the year. Before writing these lines, I had a word with Eeshan (Sorry, Shrinath, I don’t have your cell number else would have spoken to you too) and he urged me to write.

My impression of the G2G is an event where enthusiasts who share a common love of bikes and biking come together to chit-chat about bikes in particular and Life in general. They agree to meet at a predetermined venue which is compatible with the majority of attendees.

About the tech discussion. At times, some member brings up a tech issue about some subject and everybody chips in with his views so as to add to the knowledge bank of all those present. All this is done most informally. At other times, members discuss everything under the Sun (unfortunately, The Best Sexual Position was not discussed when I attended the meets, though) including career choices for their kids. There is no fixed agenda for the G2G, it just goes with the flow, so to say.

About the dinner. It should be entirely an individual member’s choice if she/he wishes to have dinner by himself or with other members. Those who wish to do so can head out together if the meeting place is not suitably equipped.

Now, I tend to agree both schools of thought here. There should be a forum-related discussion at each and every g2G so that the formal nature of the meeting, under the aegis of Xbhp is maintained (we are, after all, having a formal Pune Xbhp Chapter meeting). On the other hand, there should be informal gup-shup too so that the mood is relaxed and friendly without becoming too pedagogical and pedantic.

I have a small suggestion here. We could think of having a formal structure to the meet as given below. This is normally the format followed at such events. The timings are given as examples and can be varied by attendees most freely.

730 PM – Assembly of members.

745 PM – Meeting called to order by the Secretary. Agenda Points as under on a need-to basis:

(a) Recap of the last meeting, any feedback from members about any pending issues of the last meeting.

(b) Formal farewell to members posted out of the Pune Chapter. A few words about these members by the Secy or by their close friends to wish them safe riding in the days ahead. A small speech by each member about her/his experiences in the chapter.

(c) Formal welcome to new members A brief intro speech by each member to acquaint himself to the chapter. All attendees toast the new members with available beverages (alcoholic/non-alcoholic/dairy etc as per choice and availability) and assure her/him of support whilst reminding her/him about safe riding.


(d) Discussion on any tech issue either pre-decided on the thread in the past week/fortnight/month or introduced by any member on the spot. Presentations, documents etc to be exchanged/shared at this time. Guest speakers to speak during this slot.

(e) Discussion/analysis of rides Talk about those done in the past week and planning for the ones in the week/fortnight/month ahead. Responsibilities of members towards these proposed rides done now. Info exchange about accommodation/routes/road conditions/contacts/special features etc etc.

(f) Discussion on any FORUM-related issue to which any member wishes to draw the attention of the chapter.

900 PM – Closure of the meeting by the Secy. Recap of the Minutes of the meeting by the Secy (he will post the Minutes on the thread asap for the benefit of those who could not attend)

900 PM onwards – informal chilling-out. Those wanting to dine out to do so, the others to head home/places and/or people where/with whom they wish to spend the night.

Some work will need to be done if this format is to succeed. A Secretary of the chapter would need to be appointed/ any member to volunteer for the job, for every meeting who would have the following duties:

- Schedule each meeting at a time and place most compatible with the majority of members.

- Bring the meeting to order

- Do a head count of attendees

- Moderate the discussions to keep the meeting within decent timings.

- Maintain minutes of the meeting and publish them online after the meet.

One important suggested ground rule is that there should be absolutely NO non-forum talk after the meeting is called to order by the Secy and till the closure of the meeting. This will maintain the dignity of the event. Members can raise merry Hell after the meeting is closed but during the meeting, all must endeavour to be dead- serious about the discussion at hand.

Please do post your views as freely as possible. It is OUR Pune chapter and it is we who will make it or break it.

A lot of thought has been put behind the lines above and rightly so because I personally find myself at the same frame of time which was there months back when I attended my first G2G. To remind you all, that G2G was about the mud muddling and sledging going on over the Pune Chapter at that time. The meeting was chaired by Rohit. I wasnt aware of this till this brought to notice. And I saw all those, now hibernated, senior members, and their talk made sense to me and I felt that I am at the right place, but not for long. Nothing has changed since that time. and We are still the same.

Any way.. for the above suggestion, could some thing be included for the members who cannot attend the G2G because of the being away or else. I would vey much like to keep myself updated about any discussion that happened over some G2G. May be that was something that we, who are away, could also contribute or have doubts for.
I am not sure, how cumbersome this practice could be but this is just keeping this in mind that we can keep everyone on the same page as far as our G2Gs are related. Because, most of the time what I find when I surf through the forum is issues being raised and people involved in not much pleasing manner.
Please feel free to support/question this idea so that it could be improved or removed, if found not necessary.

I could suggest a topic to start with.. as I am also seeking some help on this. Helmets..?? How good, what needs to be the characteristics, helpful hints to choose and maintenance. This might be an individuals choice, but I am more suggesting it for people who are noobs like me... as my choice of helmets is majorly driven by the way it looks... ... but now I need to need some serious suggestions to go for a proper worthy buy. Any suggestions or discussions could be helpful.

My apologies i forgot to put the date. Yes it is today like every Wednesday. Just got back from a long travel. I was surprised to see no message for weekly G2G , so thought i will put it up. Last time to meet everyone before diwali and convey your wishes.

G2G is open to all kind of discussions. Technical, non technical ,formal , informal etc. Basic idea is to meet up and share view on our common passion : biking.

Please tell me how is it related to biking? can we please have some technical posts up here. I mean common, this is a biker forum, people should not talk such things here... What is this biological waste (sandas) and all you talking? Butter chicken, phadpada and all, not a eatery forum. Ill complain to senior members next time if I see such posts...

Try MRF tyres at Aundh road near IT Park, or there is a bikers tyres shop near the CME signal on the left side of pimple nilekh fly over if you are coming from sanghvi.
