I don't think you need to pay all of that. You just bid for a low amount and pay 12% VAT. The excise dept. will issue you a certificate mentioning it to a be a legal purchase which should help you register the bike in your name. Registration fees will be extra. It would definitely turn out cheaper.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Because new bikes are costly and these are cheap. Almost 40-50% less. Buy them, learn to ride them, if possible thrash them, scrap them or resell them and then buy a new bike!*handle with care then*

12.0) STATUTORY PAYMENTS: The rate of Excise Duty, Sales Tax/VAT Income Tax, Education Cess or any other statutory Duty / Tax / Levy / Charge etc. will be applicable and payable by the Buyer as prevailing on the date of actual physical delivery of materials. The rates of Duties and Taxes displayed on the e-Auction Website are only indicative

This clause clearly mentions that you need to pay taxes as applicable.

Hmmm... But it will definitely turn out to be cheaper then a new bike. Or could be other way round too..

Btw, there is a catch here. We do not know the service history of the bikes nor do we know how they were maintained by the previous owner. Plus, they have been lying at the DRI office for more than a year now(I believe they were seized in 2009). So be careful in trading for those bikes

@Niks, Vrathor: Could you guys get pictures of the bike so that all of us here can get to see the actual condition of the bikes. Thanks in advance

it is going to be bid price + 12.5%vat +1% income tax(TCS) + 0% custom duties+0 % excise +3% education cess (on vat).

Since bikes are already registered , the transfer of ownership for imported 2 wheelers is 300Rs. Since its bought in auction , it is half of that (150rs)

            Insurance will be extra.

If there is a delay in taking the material(bikes) then rent is also charged.

                        • How about a newbie induction ride on 26th January? A ride where we can have participation from the 'NON CSS Attending' CSS members (Are there any still remaining?) who could teach us the basics of group riding, formation riding, hand signalling, code of coduct etc. Apparently even I am very bad at half of the aforementioned so I consider myself a newbie. And since it is National Holiday, senior people will also be free. This can be a learning session for everyone. Also, we have to keep it short so that the newbies are not burdened with a 500km ride as their first group ride. Everyone pour in your comments so that we can discuss this further. (Niks can also come if he wants since this will be a half-day ride).

Location has to be decided so that majority of the participants can make it and enjoy the ride.

                              How about ride to Jejuri?

Jejuri is one of the famous temples in Maharashtra. Popularly known as ' Khandobachi Jejuri ' - it is one of the major Gods in Maharashtra. The God of Jejuri - Mhalsakant or Malhari Martand - is popular amongst the Dhangars. Dhangar is one of the oldest tribes in Maharashtra. Khandoba is known to be their god. Jejuri is to the South - East of Pune towards Phaltan. But the temples of Khandoba is situated on a small hill , so can be seen from the approaching road.
