no offence here bro..but tell me where do you stay...? Come to our locality near karunamoyee after tolly metro and u'll see what the traffic conditions are...... Earlier it was not there...it was much better before... They are doing nothing except beating up the cycle walas and the local people.... Do you know one cop got beaten up by the public near karunamoyee...? This tuesday i had an accident at ranikuthi, tollygunge just because of their stupidity...

People will teach them a good lesson after the pujas...

The signal was green from my side but a car came from the wrong side and hit me...i had a bad injury...and the car owner was trying to beat me for no fault of mine... Even i was riding at 30-35 in 4th gear... Then the on duty sergeant came and took away my keys and slapped me..and guess what....he was just chilling with his colleages and nt controlling traffic... What was my fault... Since i ride a bike and he was driving a car, the fault was mine....? I have seen this many times...if anything goes wrong, its all the bike wala's fault...why is it so...? And even mre when the riders are young guys.., bt thank god, the local people came in to rescue me...as everyone saw that i was neighther speeding, nor did i break the signal... They came and offered me help and then some senior people went to the cop and threatened him well...and they caught the car owner... Fearing public beating the cop then charged the car for negligence driving, breaking the signal, wrong side entry and some other stuffs... And you know what..? He was still hesitent...coz the car had a govt. of india badge and advocate written on it... After then the local people forced the cop to apologise to me..and he did... I was planning to sue him there only bt i was in pain.... Then 2 senior people took me to bangur hospital, where i was given first aid, and then they even dropped me home in one of their own personal vehicle.. And another man rode my bike and brought it home... Me and my father were really thankfull for what they did.... And if you want to experience hell then come to our locality...from tollygunge metro till chowrasta...specially karunamoyee to chowrasta... Traffic cndition is just horrible.... And they are charging bike wallas only evn on small galli...where only two cars can run side by side...its that narrow... They are simply horrible... Earlier it took me max 10 mins to reach home from golf green, and now it takes half n hour.... I hope you wont praise them after this... They are just beating up whoever they are getting.... And no offence to anyone in my above posts...and not only me...each and every people here are complaining..... People will teach them a good lesson after the pujas...

Well, this was an accident...It might happen anywhere. I had a visit to IIMC, Joka via Behala & Taratala and I was amazed to see the traffic flow so smooth unlike earlier. And yes you're right, ppl/cops will blame a bike wala everytime a bike is involved in a crash.
Couple of days before, when me and my brother were riding normally through Bara Bazar, and the cops were stopping only bikers and one of them in civil dress says "Pollution certificate dikhao" They never stop/charge/take any action against taxis/buses emitting tons of smoke which is actually responsible for environmental pollution "700 ka case hoga, warna 400 do to jaane denge". I was very angry that time, and I just had a strong thought and decided that I'll go through legal procedures but seldom pay this bastard few hundreds of bribe...We rushed to senior inspectors there and had a chat with them explaining everything and they said "jaane do inko" and that bastard was like "Sir kuch toh fine lene do, sab xerox papers hain" blah blah
Its not like every policeman is the same, many are nice also.

Hope you get well soon and from the next time try to avoid such accidents by paying more attention....and if anything happens and its not your fault, never hesitate to beat the culprit black and blue, forget the consequences.

We can start a protest, the first step might be: Join Kolkata Traffic Police page on facebook and click lots of images/videos of traffic violation or excessive pollution etc and upload there. They will be forced to take action. (You can watch few examples there)

You guys must gather up start a rally with all banners & everything to create awareness. You can sincerely try to contact the KP traffic Com. & show them your plan to create awareness. I guess it will help a lot. I have see LOT many young boys riding bikes without helmet/ tripling/racing. Kolkata has very narrow roads. Even Diamond Harbour road, which few years back was good has now become too pathetic. I remember taking the Rail Line road which runs parallel to the DH road till Taratala, I guess so as to avoid rush on DH road. That too these days have become pathetic!! So much traffic! But I must say one thing that people do fear the Sargent, if he is present there. In subuurbs it's managed by WB police & main Kolkata is managed by KP. It seems KP is more efficient.
Kolkata has put many restrictions on parkings but the room for development is really less. Pity. Imagine a wide road running parallel to Ganga & you riding on it

i am not talking about the accident bro. I am talking bout the way i got harrassed... One more update... 4-5 days back a cop got beaten by local people once again and this time in azad garh, tollygunge... News about cops getting beaten are coming from everywhere... But yeah the cops are helpless too... Earlier their monthly quota was to give 36 cases, and now it is 72..double... Life is harder for them also... Bt there is no point giving a case in narrow gallis where even a bus cant get it. There is just about space for 2 cars... And 1 more thing i want to ask..i dont know this... Is riding with a learner's licence illegal...? I am fined for this... I was riding solo in the morning...

Yes you are wright... Some cops are really good.... But some are like so rude, they dont evn speak properly, keep on abusing... Wish we could start a protest.... By the way some cops are funny too.. once my friend was caught for riding his r15 with the projectors off..only the angel eyes were on.... They said 100 takar lagbe... Bt then he started looking at the lights, switched on the projectors and he was kind of impressed... He said...'bah bah khub bhalo lagche light ta, amar chelero ei bike ache'.... And then let him go without a fine.... The helmets the cops wear are not isi certified...wish i could fine them....

It is legal to ride with Learner's license but make sure the vehicle you are riding should have a white board with letter L written on it in Red..
